Almost a year ago I bought a set of Asgard's Barbarian Personalities, now manufactured and sold by Alternative Miniatures (http://www.alternative-armies.com/28mm_Barbarians.htm). Great models, sculpted by Jes Goodwin prior to him joining Citadel. They are very similar in style to his early LOTR urukhai, for instance. Or the hobgoblin Regiment of Renown he did for Citadel. Great value too!
I liked them a lot, but feared I'd never get round to painting them as they're not proper Citadel (even if Asgard is pretty close). Thus I shipped them off to Paul v2 for painting, and what a lovely job he have done on them! I included a C23 ogre too, in order to give the gang some extra muscle.

Please note, once again - I did NOT paint these. I only finished the bases.
I have close ups of each and every one of the guys over on my blog, I figured it'd be a bit much posting them here. Also, some more ranting - as always:

So, here are (some rather crappy) close-ups of each and every one of the guys:

So there you go... hope you enjoyed them! I hope to be able to work out the settings on my "new" camera soon or it's back to my old compact.

Very nice miniatures in it self but also a great paint job.
-
Nice work on some of my earliest miniature memories.
:-*
These were indeed amongst my first ever fantasy figures alongside the Asgard Dwarfs. Gonna have to get my hands on them sooner or later.
Thanks for the memories phreedh.

You picked the right Guy to do your minis...BEAUTIFULLY DONE!
The minis are really cool. Though I'm familiar with some of the Asgard pieces, those are new to moi.

I just love those old school sculpts. And some very nice paintjob on those to. :D

I would love to take credit for these...but they are all Phreedh's lovely work!
They look amazing mate...I've not been aware of these figures.
Cheers,

That's what you get with low levels of blood sugar. I read a "v" in the text and mentally just assumed it was you!
Great paint job, Paul v2!

Not at all, painted by Paul "v2" Sanderson. See, I'm a lazy so-and-so and like to have something done on commission once or twice a year. =)

Nice PJ, that's quite a nice band! I like the overall look, even though i'm not a fan of "retro" minis! :)

Hi phreedh, these are fantastic paint jobs, Paul did an amazing job, especially the subtle skin tones. I really need to buy some of these; dammit but they are great sculpts!
Cheers
Damien
PS. Nice basing, oh and what is up with those round bases? :D
-
Nice!! I've had my eye on these for a while, but never bought them. Nice that they are available from both Alternative Armies and from Viking Forge!
Any idea on how they compare size-wise to other fantasy figs?
-
The figures look tight! And those round bases work just fine for some Brink of Battle..... lol

They're perfectly compatible with late 80s Citadel. I can take a pic for you if you wish...
fine for some Brink of Battle..... lol
I know :( So far BoB have been "too much new game" to get through, as we don't play often (a few times a year). I really liked it for shooty games though! If (when) ever I get 'round to do something less fantasy it'll be my first stop for rules.
what is up with those round bases? :D
Yeah, they're outrageous! ;)

Don't worry Phreed, the Fantasy rules are right around the corner!
