I finished these chaps a couple of days ago, and was quite proud of them, so thought you might like to see.
Victorian explorer Sir Vivian Rawlinson, resplendant in hunting pink ("Foxes or lions, it's all huntin', what?")
Francis "Frenchie" LaBelge
(http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb155/GrunterPulpit/FrenchieLaBelge.jpg)
And a few of the loyal bearers that Sir Vivian's drunken roarings haven't managed to chase away yet.

Comments and crits all welcome as usual. :)

I love 'em. You're pullin the off-white off quite nicely :)
Did you use Foundry Shady Flesh for the porters?
-
Thanks! :)
The African flesh is my own recipe (all GW paints):
Black undercoat
Bestial Brown
Brown Ink
Bestial Brown highlight
4:1 mix Bestial Brown and Bronzed Flesh final highlight.
I think it gives a nice warm tone, although sometimes the final highlight looks a little too light until you varnish the fig and it brings it all together like magic.
Slightly less Bronzed Flesh for darker skin, like on these Pygmies:

Blimey Jolly Bob you have been a bit prolific recently, dinos, hunters etc, all splendid stuff :)
-
Aye, I was feeling most underproductive in the "minis what you have done this month" threads, so I really pulled the stops out this time.
There's a couple more things I haven't posted yet, and a few days left to finish the rest.
Also, we got Sky+ recently, so there is now no chance at all of me being distracted by the tv as I can never get near it. Every cloud, what? 8)

Those Pygmies are incredibly non-PC, but awesome. And that hunting party - yum! Excellent work.
-
Yes, I really don't know how Kallistra still get away with selling them. But they are fun little things and I have tons, so I'm glad they do.
Thanks for your comments on the painting too Chris, much appreciated.

Redde caesari quae sunt caesaris ! I really like that red coat, but my favourite is that touch of gold on the leftmost African musketeer. Makes for a beautiful touch of colour.

Very good work!

PS: I think Francis Lebelge is more suitable than Labelge ;)

I like them alot JollyBob! Great stuff.

Ah. You spotted my deliberate mistake then? Ahem.
Yes, you're quite right. My schoolboy French is not that good these days. Wasn't up to much then, as I recall.

Those look very very nice. Just the right fellas to support our troops in todays Darkest Africa game that Grimm, Doomhippie and me finnished 2 hrs ago.
Would like to see more of your African Adventurers
Cheers

Eureka have some similar ones too. To be honest if you look at kids TV cartoons etc they have some equally disturbing portrayals of characters.
They are great JollyBob, I can see I need to get back on track to keep up :D

Yeah, I have a few Eureka pygmies too (I started building an army. To take on the Halfling army I haven't finished yet either. ). I love em to bits, I just meant I'm surprised some killjoy hasn't had them pulled for being funny, which is of course a crime these days.

Awesome! I'm going to steal your recipe for the flesh.
