Rather than post various threads I though I would post all my 7TV related stuff in one place:
Firstly a re-post of some of 'The Darke' cast:
-
The Defenders was a cast I used at the Enfield 7TV day. I got no further than selecting suitable miniatures, basing and under-coating them, and so used other miniatures I already had on the day. Now (18 months later!) I have finally got around to painting them:
The 'not Robert Vaughn' miniature on the right is a fantastic sculpt, one of my favourite Copplestone KKBB miniatures.

Spiffing 8)
Looking forward to seeing more :)
cheers
James
-
Brilliant! I can almost hear a John Barry twangy guitar tune 8)
-
Superb Paul. Love the Mod dress :)
Is that St Tropez in the background? Or Skegness? ;)
-
Geneva isn't it? as seen in the Champions...
who does that Lost in Space robot?
-
who does that Lost in Space robot?
I think it's black cat bases.
-
Lovely to see them all again. A game is in order I think :)
-
Lovely!
:-*
Superb Paul. Love the Mod dress :)
The dress is great.
Not sure about the bloke wearing it....quite a jawline on that 'lass'!
-
Thanks chaps. :) Replies to the questions were correct: Geneva and Black Cat Bases:

Afraid I can't claim any originality though:

She is from the Foundry Street Violence range which is rather a mixed bag sculpting-wise. She's more 80's hooker than 60's mod, but there wasn't alot of choice for suitable miniatures. The dress came out well, but the boots should be below the knee for the 60's.

I was not passing comment on the painting, which is superb, just the sculpt of the face.
She reminded me of a fella who I used to work with who showed me a picture of himself at a 'tarts and vicars' fancy dress party.
An uncanny resemblance!
And I still shudder at the thought of that picture.
:o :o :o
I love the theme of this thread.
What is next in the pipeline?

I never took its as such, hence my comment on the sculpting. Its passable, but she is no Alexandra Bastedo ;)
I love the theme of this thread.

There isn't a real theme to it, other than I have a load of miniatures collected for 7TV (and similar) prepped for painting. I've already finished more miniatures this month than I managed in the whole of last year!
The latest additions are some of the Generic Apes form Ainsty, kindly sent to me by Andy:

Excellent stuff, that Robert Vaughn figure actually looks like Robert Vaughn with your paint job. Wonderful. :)

I think he looks more like William Gaunt ;)
I didn't half fancy Alexandra Bastedo when I was twelve ;D
-
Dam, dirty Apes!!
Sorry couldn't resist! Great work Paul!
-
Great stuff!
:-*
Those apes are rather good arent they?
-
Excellent.
I keep looking at those Ainsty apes - no idea what I'd do with them, it's just... Perhaps I'll give in when I see them at Crusade this weekend. :D
-
Lovely :-* look forward to more :)
-
Thanks for all the comments. ;)
The apes painted up quickly (for me!) being crisp casts with well defined details. There is a cast in the 7TV fluff that has apes led by a (presumably mad) villain; Andros, that I may end up using them for.

Its the sculpt rather than my painting. Absolutely spot-on. 8)

I'll have some more to add to that cast for you in a few days...

Here you go...

Next up are some Federation Troopers and a Section Leader for Blakes 7TV:
Added to a previously painted Servalan, Travis and more troopers (CP Models):

Ready to take on some future freedom fighters, once they escape from (the) London [@Salute]. ;)
-
Excellenty!
-
I didn't half fancy Alexandra Bastedo when I was twelve Grin
...and me. :'(
-
Lovely stuff.
Great work on the blacks.
:-*
Nice idea with the clear bases, too.
-
Love what you did with the Iron Giant.... :D
-
Ooooooooooooooooh! Loving the Blake's 7 Federation troopers :-* :-* :-*
-
what is wrong with you lot? only fancying her when you were 12... ;D
-
Ready to take on some future freedom fighters, once they escape from (the) London [@Salute]. ;)
don't think you're slipping that one past us...
-
Lovely painting Paul. :-*
-
don't think you're slipping that one past us...
If you knew the future in detail you could change it, and so it wouldn't be the future.
It wasn't a total secret previously ;), but it has been formally revealed now by Crooked Dice in their upcoming releases:
--------------
March - MadameDroid, 3x Scuba Diver Frogmen
April - Future Freedom Fighters II (4 models + box), 7th Voyage Rulebook, cards and tokens, Heroes Programme Guide
May - United Radionics - Lancelot Cray, Lionel and the Man in the Lead Lined Suit
June - Saurian Swordswoman and Turkish Manservant
--------------
@Mason: The bases are from our very own Jimbibblywibbly: 0.5mm thick perspex, circular 25mm diameter.
I was slightly worried the miniatures would keep breaking off the base as they cannot be pinned, but the only repair I have had to make so far was after dropping a based trooper in my mug of tea!
-
I finally got some of my extras painted up.
First a group of (disco-dancing) Technicians:
Scientists (Black Cat Bases):
A bit shorter than the CD scientists, but bought before the CD ones were produced....
CD Scientists with standard heads:
CD Scientists with headswaps:
Scientist on the left uses the Dr Russell body, but looks OK with a male head, despite the Cuban heels (Arm helpfully obscurring the chest)
Far right is the lab-coated version of Lazarus Darke
More scientists than I'm ever likely to field in a game....
Next should be a bunch of Copplestone security guard minions. :)
-
Very nice Paul :-*
Sounds daft but I really like your painting style for the trousers 8)
cheers
James
-
Nice painting :-*
-
Excellent paintwork! :-*
-
Oh, this is working out lovely! :-*
-
Great additions!
:-*
One can never have too many scientists!
Or Mad Doctors come to think of it...
Looking forward to the next batch.
:D
-
Many thanks for the feedback. :)

I sort of paint in a Dali(more)-esque manner, but with less talent! ::)
I lack the consistency of painting that he seems able to acheive. Some miniatures turn out well while others are a bit of a dogs dinner. If you look at the trousers on the far left miniature in the bottom 2 photos, the first is subtle whilst the other is much more pronounced.
It definately something that rewards practice, which I desperately need to do, given that I only managed to finish 5 miniatures in the whole of last year (This year has been spent mostly finishing off what I had started previously).
-
A few more Ainsty buggies now painted up:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Buggies05_zpsf15c8e92.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Buggies05_zpsf15c8e92.jpg.html)

Of course I had to paint up 3 droids to go with them:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Droids01_zpsdcce5f5b.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Droids01_zpsdcce5f5b.jpg.html)

Lovely!
:-*
"And it's Schumacher for Ferrari!"
Whacky races, here we come!
8)
You are doing a fine job marketing these babies for Ainsty, as I feel a few of those will go down well in future as spaceport conveyances in the Space Opera project.
When I get around to it, that is.
-
Great stuff. Not much wrong with the painting on these either :)
-
Those droids are lovely Paul :)
-
Those droids are lovely Paul :)
Ditto.
-
Many thanks all. The droids came out as well as I could have expected. The numbers were fiddly but worth it. I chickened out of painting 01, 02, and 03 in red on the front grilles.
-
That's a great collection with plenty of opportunities and scenarios.
But, I have to be honest... I prefer the Crooked Dice Apes.
-
"No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"
The Club AGM and painting contest was last night. I barely finished my entry for the diorama category in time:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/DSC04448640x523_zps58e35ccb.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/DSC04448640x523_zps58e35ccb.jpg.html)
The table, wall and control desk are all from Ainsty. The rest was scratch-built for the diorama.
The victim is Ainsty (optional table). The guard is a CD minion with SMG and alternate Military Men head.
The master villain is from Copplestone (KKBB109 - Rogue Agents)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Diorama02594x640_zps913a6dde.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Diorama02594x640_zps913a6dde.jpg.html)

The table can be swapped around for use with/without victim (using magnabase/steel paper):
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/DSC04458640x579_zps7932b959.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/DSC04458640x579_zps7932b959.jpg.html)
The Ainsty wall, table and control desk can be removed for use separately:

James Bond will return.....in small neatly cut pieces..... :D
-
Bloody brilliant, sir.
Love it!
:-*
That should fit in really well with your scenery.
Which we need to see more of, I reckon... :D
The Club AGM and painting contest was last night. I barely finished my entry for the diorama category in time:
How did you get on with your entry....?

That's spectacular! Did you win?

Fantastic work Paul :-* :-*

James
-
Oh, that's just fantastic! :-*
-
Absolutely brilliant Paul :-* :-* :-*
-
That's superb
-
Excellent! :o
-
Excellent eye-candy. Looking forward to more James Bond stuff.
-
Very cool :)
-
Fantastic sir ;)
-
Excellent diorama! Couple of questions...What did you use for the laser? Is the Not Bond figure on the Ainsty site?
-
Thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated. :)
What did you use for the laser?
I made it from plastic rod & tube that fits one inside the other. The "energy" loops are copper wire wound around the tubing.
Is the Not Bond figure on the Ainsty site?
It would appear not. The victim version was added after I built the original master. I know Andy (Ainsty) has been selling it at shows, so drop him an email and I'm sure he will be able to sort you out.
That should fit in really well with your scenery.
Which we need to see more of, I reckon... :D
I keep telling myself the same thing! Just too many projects on the go at any one time (plus real life).
How did you get on with your entry....?
I was fortunate enough to win.
-
A well deserved win!
-
I keep telling myself the same thing! Just too many projects on the go at any one time (plus real life).
Tell me about it, there is never enough time to get everything done, is there?
I was fortunate enough to win.
Well done, sir!
A great piece.

Wonderful stuff. ;D

Karl (uti long smile) at Crooked Dice has asked me to build a few pieces for him for future 7TV supplements:
Firstly a large hoarding:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Hoarding04_zpsd16e85cb.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Hoarding04_zpsd16e85cb.jpg.html) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Hoarding03_zps52d5e7c3.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Hoarding03_zps52d5e7c3.jpg.html)
All plastic card/tube with a foamed PVC base.
Next is a Security Post/Gatehouse:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security03_zps2122cace.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security03_zps2122cace.jpg.html)
All foamed PVC construction.
Roof, bollards & detail added:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security05_zps948d3d15.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security05_zps948d3d15.jpg.html)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security06_zpse3d7bffa.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security06_zpse3d7bffa.jpg.html)
I've made a few optional signs for the roof or to use free-standing:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security08a_zps0399c3df.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security08a_zps0399c3df.jpg.html) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security07_zps3ce9898d.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security07_zps3ce9898d.jpg.html)
Build completed:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security09_zpsb114873c.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security09_zpsb114873c.jpg.html)
Painting next. :)
-
Nice work, Paul.
Simple yet very effective.
Love the detailing on the hoarding!
:-*
-
Ooo, I like them 8)
cheers
James
-
Stonking work! Are they being cast Paul?
-
Great work Paul :-* :-* :-*
-
Ignorant American question here. Is a 'hoarding' what we would call a billboard, or is it something else? I love the guard shack.
-
Thanks chaps.
Yes, hoarding=billboard. Two peoples divided by one language! :D
@Andym: Not for casting up, just a one-off for Karl (Although I will probably build another for myself)
-
Loving the security checkpoint building. :-*
Simple, but very effective and instantly recogniseable. :)
-
Fine work on the new scenery, the extra detail on the guard post are spot on.
-
Superb Paul. Love the bells! :)
-
Some photos of the finished items:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Hoarding05_zpscc26b735.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Hoarding05_zpscc26b735.jpg.html)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Hoarding06_zpse3d96a6c.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Hoarding06_zpse3d96a6c.jpg.html)
The front face is relatively un-weathered as various temporary signage will be added as required.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Odds/Security11_zpsdacd1ff7.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Odds/Security11_zpsdacd1ff7.jpg.html)

Now handed over to Karl.
-
Lovely simple paint job :-* :-* :-*
-
Cracking paint jobs. ;D
-
Lovely and crisp paintjobs there, mate!
:-*
-
Wonderful stuff ;D
-
A pleasure to see. But one thing is not right: you handed it over to karl, not to me... ;)
-
Overall gorgeous, Paul.
-
Thanks chaps. :)
A few Copplestone security guards:

Proper henchmen!
:-*
(We still need to see more off that base...... ::) ;))
-
Great looking bullet-catchers :)
Where do villains recruit those guys, anyway? lol
-
Fantastic thread!
Tons of very cool stuff! :-*

lovely work

No-one would have believed...... oops, sorry wrong board. ;)
I've had the idea for a tripod of some kind for some time. The Dr Argo tripod in the 7TV rules is a happy co-incidence. Whilst recently perusing a parts catalogue for another project I found some components that looked rather suitable:
Not all the lengths of acrylic rod or plastic tube are shown.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod01_zps0273a9aa.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod01_zps0273a9aa.jpg.html)
I used the acrylic rod & sphere to make the legs by drilling and pinning them with brass rod.
Plastic tube of several diameters was cut to give the look of telescoping legs.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod02_zpsea7d41e8.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod02_zpsea7d41e8.jpg.html)
Here are some I made earlier!
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod03_zps3f4fea56.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod03_zps3f4fea56.jpg.html)
The 3 legs were fitted into holes drilled in an acrylic hemisphere.
The main body of the tripod is formed from larger dished and elliptical acrylic domes.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod09_zps8e287a20.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod09_zps8e287a20.jpg.html)
This is what I have so far. Dr Argo is stood below. It measures just under 12 inches tall.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod10_zps5a042669.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod10_zps5a042669.jpg.html)
Now, I would like some opinions on the finishing touches:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod07_zps8b9679cf.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod07_zps8b9679cf.jpg.html) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod06_zps7940af32.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod06_zps7940af32.jpg.html)
Hatch or no hatch?
I quite like the Fenris hatch, but it does look a little "industrial". Fine if it were VSF, but not particularly alien.
Without looks cleaner (NB the stub from the moulding process would be removed) and access could be explained by "an opening appearing in the fluid metal surface".
Next decision: Big feet? Small feet? No feet?

All feedback and suggestions welcome. :)

:o
That looks fantastic already, Paul.
:-* :-*
It is really good to see the processes right from the beginning.
It shows the genius at work.
:D
You know that there are going to be requests to get this cast up, right?
;)
-
Su-perb. I would suggest no hatch and large feet. That said, I can't really decide until I see painted samples ;)
-
Awesome. ;D
Being a VSFer I'd say big feet and hatch, but that's not it's intently usage, so small feet and no hatch! ;)
Is it going to have some sort of death ray projectile weapon?
-
Awesome sauce Paul! :o :-*
I would go with no hatch and small feet considering the design aesthetic of 7TV. With your use of clear acrylic domes, I'd also make a plea for interior detail and a clear top dome so you can see the villain at work!
This mere mortal salutes you!
-
Small feet no hatch - and definately clear/smoked top with visible interior! :)
-
Gotta say I am with Kev on this one.
All of his points pretty much nail it for me.
8)
-
Hmmm, this was meant to be a fairly quick & simple project. ::)
Opinion here and on the Crooked Dice forum seems to split into two camps: VSF style with hatch and big feet or 'Alienesque' with no hatch and small feet.
I do like the idea of a crew interior, but it makes the build more complicated. Also, the clear top would look a bit odd. Although you could rationalise it as being some kind of 'force shield'.
Is it going to have some sort of death ray projectile weapon?
Yes, although my initial thought for doing so does look a bit phallic. :o
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod15_zpsae0aeb6d.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod15_zpsae0aeb6d.jpg.html) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/overlord_awc/7TV/Tripod/Tripod16_zps3797c60f.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/overlord_awc/media/7TV/Tripod/Tripod16_zps3797c60f.jpg.html)
I'm considering adding tendrils/arms that could be fitted or removed, as required. Its also been suggested I could build a 'harvester' basket to go with it. I may end up building more than one option at this rate.
You know that there are going to be requests to get this cast up, right?
Possibly. The main body wouldn't be a problem, but the legs are big (22cm from ground to knee joint); possibly prone to warping in resin and too heavy (& expensive?) in metal.
-
Split in two camps, you say...?
You will just have to build one of each, then, wont you?
:D
As for casting options: Maybe you could do a version with shorter legs for the masses.... ???
-
If the main components were cast, i.e. the body/thorax, and the main leg joints and feet, then the individual modeller can fit the tubing for the legs themselves, reducing the casting costs whilst still retaining the potential for 12" plus models.
-
Hmmm, this was meant to be a fairly quick & simple project. ::)
Well, you picked the wrong forum for that lol
I would suggest even smaller or no feet and round off the end of the acrylic rod which would possibly work even better.
For the hatch, how about just a styrene sheet cut to an appropriate shape and stuck on top, the thinner the sheet the better?
Oh, and I second or third the call for a visible interior :D
Should be easy enough, build the interior cock pit and mask out the area that will be left clear ;)
cheers
James
-
I'm with Jimbibbly, even smaller feet and a simpler hatch in fitting with the aesthetic look of the model.
It's a cracking looking model Paul and tentacles would give it a great War of the Worlds look. Goes without saying I'd have a couple.
To be honest, I don't think there's an inexpensive way to cast and sell a tripod of this quality.
If I can be really picky (and this is a first when it comes to your work) I dont think that's a good spot for the gun. Apart from looking a bit phallic it has the potential to melt the legs of the tripod when fired.
-
I agree with the small or no feet crowd, but I think a hatch would be neat. I would like to see a hatch that looked like a raised oval or recessed circle instead of a classic fly-wheel and rivets look. Also, what about a hatch mounted on the underside of the body and the gun mounted on top?
Great, now I want to make my own tripod. Damn...
-
After many months of almost no painting, building or gaming I have finally regained my mojo and got a few more 7TV miniatures finished.
The Military Minions are mostly Crooked Dice minions, but with a TLS headswap. They join the 4 small-arm minions completed a year or so ago.

I have also painted up a conversion using a 'Man from 2000' body and the head I had cut off a Copplestone FW "suit", to convert Lazarus Darke previously:

No specific cast in mind, so currently referred to as Dr X. Rather pleased with how he turned out :)
-
Really nice work, that last conversion is cool 8)
-
Great stuff Paul 8)
cheers
James

Good collection of military types there; like the dog and handler best.
-
Top drawer paintwork Paul.

Nice! Love the group photo Paul :-*

Ditto to that..... 8) :-*

Nice to you back at it.
Cracking stuff

Sweet!
:-* :-*
Like the military look.
8)
Akula's chaps do mix well with the CD stuff.
-
Yes, finally Paul! :-*
-
Good to see your mojo has returned, great brushwork :)
-
Great bunch of evil minions! :-*
Is there going to be many more of them?
-
Many thanks for the feedback. :)
I now have an awful lot of minions of various types completed. I need to move on with some of the Stars and Co-stars as well as some complete casts. At least it has got me back into painting after so long.
Akula's chaps do mix well with the CD stuff.
Common sculpting for some of each range, particularly by Ian Mountain, so complement each other well. (Use of good sculptors in general)

A few more long-undercoated miniatures, painted over the weekend:
Dr Mao and his diminuative doppelganger deputy mini-Mao:

(Dodgy mini-Mao sculpt by me - needs to be a bit more portly really)
Dr Maos twin bodyguards, Ying and Yang:

Just caught up with this thread after a long while. Excellent work, keep it up :-*
-
Great stuff ;D
-
Great stuff, Paul.
:-* :-*
I have an Evil Asian Criminal Mastermind and his crew to paint up sometime and these are great inspiration.
8)
Nothing 'dodgy' about Mini-Mao, great little fella.
8)
-
Nice to see one of the garrison trooper snipers getting painted in a colour other than sand...
;)
Also.... mini-Mao
lol
-
Oh, and Ying and Yang are inspired.
8) 8)
..... and I cannot wait to show them to my brother in law, who IS the spitting image of Odd-Job.
He will be most pissed off with the reference.
Again.
Thanks Paul!
:D :D
-
More cracking stuff :-* :-* :-* :-*
Your own sculpt is great
-
The mini-Mao is hilarious.
-
Fantastic!
-
Fan-tas-tic! :o :o Mini Mao is just top notch! :-*
-
Many thanks again. :)
Mini-Mao is rather silly and more Austin Powers than Bond, but seemed a good idea at the time... ::)
..... and I cannot wait to show them to my brother in law, who IS the spitting image of Odd-Job.
He will be most pissed off with the reference.
Are all your friends and family recreated in miniature? This isn't the first time this has happened! :D
-
Are all your friends and family recreated in miniature? This isn't the first time this has happened! :D
Where my brother in law is concerned, it does seem to be the case.
Even his own son saw a picture of Oddjob and called it Daddy!
-
Your stuff is (like the stuff of Capt. Blood) all the time amazing. Hope you will discover new settings and give me inspiration again. Thanks for the new pictures.
-
Finally, a few more minis....
Various Copplestone FW girls with guns:

Welcome back Paul.
-
love all of it !!! :D :D :D
-
He's back and in style too! :-*
As Capt B said, good to see you back Paul.

Back with a bang!
Lovely work, especially that quartered dress.
Welcome back Paul.
Indeed!
It has been a while.
-
Back with a bang!
Lovely work, especially that quartered dress.
Indeed!
It has been a while.
Agreed, the quartered one is a triumph, the others aren't too shabby either. ;)
And as the others have said welcome back. :)
-
Wonderful! And glad the mojo has returned :)
-
Glad you're back with us Paul! Great re-introduction as well!
-
Lovely work in this thread!
-
Welcome back Paul! Lovely pjs 8)
-
Thank you everyone for the welcome back. :)
I actually rather enjoyed painting these. The quartered dress is a take on Mary Quant/60s fashion. It nearly didn't happen as I had a bit of a varnish failure, but a change to Daler-Rowney (having read advice on the forum) sorted them out.
Hopefully a few more 7TV minis to come in the next few days.

Beautiful brushwork, mate.
:-* :-*
You are certainly back in the groove now.
8)
I like the idea with the AKULA/CD conversion.
I have a few ideas for my AKULA security troopers in a similar vein.
They mix so well .

Lovely work Paul, the black in particular :-* :-*
cheers

Ohhhh, nice one Paul!! 8) 8) 8) 8)
Whats your receipe for the Khaki on the Bond villian?
-
You are certainly back in the groove now.
I like the idea with the AKULA/CD conversion.
That's the general plan, trying to keep motivated and painting. I think the conversion makes an excellent assassin. The face also off-sets the very dark clothing well.
Lovely work Paul, the black in particular :-* :-*
Yes, I'm really pleased how it came out. Its actually 2 different highlights; grey for the armour and very dark blue for the under-suit. They picture has washed out a bit of the contrast between the two.
Ohhhh, nice one Paul!! 8) 8) 8) 8)
Whats your receipe for the Khaki on the Bond villian?
Foundry Rawhide (11) triad. I'm rubbish at colours and mixing my own, so mostly use Foundry paints these days.
-
Oooh yes, very nice indeed! :-*
Is the building mojo creeping back too?
-
Just found this thread and have to say I'm simply in awe of your work sir!!! :) The paintworks are nice, crisp and very colourful, very difficult to pick a favourite :D.
I have been looking at CD and 7TV, your post is one more in the "buy that, and that... oh cool got to have THAT" and feel that my bank account is going to cry soon lol!!!
-
Great painting, I love the cigar toting fellow and the head conversion is very clever, I almost missed what you used as the base figure.

Gorgeous!

Lovely stuff, especially the evil genius :-*

One of my regular updates to this thread... Is it 2016 already? :?
More 8TV than 7TV but I figured they fitted in with with the rest OK:

Great to see you posting again. They look terrific ;D

That is a crack commando unit, or a commando unit on crack, I could never tell :D
Excellent paintwork :-*

Another update, only 2 months after the last one! I may need to go and lay down..... ;)

Brilliant additions to the project, mate.

The 'Granville's MKII's look damn scary, though....

Nice one Paul! 8) The white coat and the glowy hand are particularly good!
Btw, is it just me or does Mr Blonde look like Lee Evans?

Very nice Chief!

Awesome work a bumper amount of new additions!

I suddenly have the urge to eat a Snickers bar.
Let's hope he doesn't paint Marianne Faithful next :~}
-
Thanks for the comments. :)
Love the white on the evil Dr
I'm very pleased with how he came out. I used the Foundry paints triad White (33) with additional intermediate layers. Its quite subtle and my photography doesn't fully capture it.

I can hear the Bond theme song playing, looking at that fig. All of your figs for this project look great...

Great minis, great painting, but I never could get myself to like Copplestones hand weapons designs.
-
Love the black on them 8)
cheers
James
-
Many thanks all. :)
The black is a basecoat of Foundry Black 34A followed by a few layers with increasing amounts of Slate Grey 32A.
My favourite is the guy far left as he came out with more subtle variations of tone, whereas the others are a bit more obvious. Pleased with them all, but need to try and improve consistency with my painting.

This lockdown is aiding your output no end, Paul lol
Beautiful figures. Love the pressure gauge. Or is it air? :)
-
the orange is great :-* :-* :-*
Lovely painting
-
Very nice job ;)
-
That confused me (easily confused) as I had not seen this thread so I started on page one (2013?).
Nice work on the scuba divers.
Love the pressure gauge. Or is it air? :)
Yes, it is - though you have to ask your buddy to check your air.
-
Good to see you doing 7TV again. Feels like back to the basics. It is always a pleasure to talk with you about 7TV at the BLAM, had several times in the indian restaurant.
-
Lovely clean brushwork, mate.

'Kitty Stroker'.

Beautiful figures. Love the pressure gauge. Or is it air? :)
Take the positives where you can... ;) Probably like many others currently, I've gone from very little free time to 'All the time in the world'
It should be air, but as UVS has pointed out it is totally innacurate as 'Kitty' can't even see it. ::)
'Kitty Stroker'.
lol lol
Great painting! But now you have Paul all worked up lol
Don't blame me. I'm just sticking with the 7TV background. It's all Karl's fault. lol

She obviously needs someone very close behind to keep an eye on her 'pressure gauge' then.....

Great stuff Paul :)

Nice new additions, mate.
Very satisfying when you get paint on a figure that you have had for ages.

I've had the mini so long that it was probably a glimpse of the future when it was sculpted.... ::)
I dunno, about 25 years ago I had a phone that size.
And a mate of mine had one that had a battery that you carried around with it and said battery was about the size of that briefcase....

I've had the mini so long that it was probably a glimpse of the future when it was sculpted.... ::)
Cutting edge postmodernism right there! Good work on those older figures. I watched the Matrix the other day, it had been quite a while, this looks even slightly before that. Maybe Robocop era :)

Checking the Lost Minis Wiki, they have a Dragon magazine advert from Feb 1988 that certainly features the 'Roboman'. So even older than I thought. ::)

Love them all
but the last one is out of this world :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Good looking group there, your clean painting is perfect for these figures.
-
Absolutely marvellous Paul :-*
Good God but that takes me back. I had all the Captain Scarlet vehicles as a kid (that really was long long ago!) and I remember playing with them in a huge pile of builders’ sand in the back garden that got left behind after some building work at my childhood home... Ah... If only I’d kept those lovely toys pristine instead of grinding them into the sandy battlefield, they’d be worth a fortune today ::) lol
-
Terrific! 👍👍👍
-
Excellent.
Are you going to do the rest of the panels from the end credits?
Crooked Dice do the crates and the sharks...
-
You genius :)
-
Wowsers....they look brilliant
:)
-
Fantastic - takes me back a few decades.
-
Brilliant!

No idea what Blood is on about, though, as I am obviously far too young....

Is that an original SPV from ......YEARS ago!?
-
Thanks all. :)

Very similar story for me. We had a sandpit in the back garden that I would spend alot of time playing with Dinky (mostly Gerry Anderson vehicles & Military) and 1/32 Airfix soldiers. Happy days :)
Are you going to do the rest of the panels from the end credits?
I knew someone would suggest that! No (but it had occured to me...)
Is that an original SPV from ......YEARS ago!?
No, not an old Dinky. It's a more recent Product Enterprises model that I bought at a discount some years ago. Generally not cheap to acquire now.

Beautiful work. Never did see these figures as toys when I was young but not sure if they ever really were available in the US back then.
-
Fantastic! :o Now we need some great battle reports/stories to go along with this great project!

Works a treat :)

Looking great!
I loved Space 1999.
I don't suppose you have a matching Eagle Transporter?
T.
-
Lovely work Paul, they look great. ;D
-
Cracking work 8)
-
When I see them I feel 40 years younger. You brought back my youth, Paul. Thank you
-
Fortunately, I saw these AFTER my first cup of coffee. They doo look quite lovely, regardless of their hue... :D
-
Thanks once again 8)

There is an old toy one at 1/48, but a bit pricey these days - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113943821251?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0
You could always 3D print your own - https://twistedpinnaclegames.wordpress.com/2020/07/22/space-force-1999-3d-printed-eagle-transporter/
I don't have one and (ironically) don't have the space... ;)
-
Space 1999; flared trousers, soft focus filters when a bit of romance was brewing, and waiting around for the computers to spit out a piece of paper with calculations on it...
Marvelous stuff.
Great painting on those models, brought back some memories.

Not 7TV but a game of Galactic Heroes this afternoon:

Koenig fought to the end, but it didn't end well. The curse of newly painted miniatures in their first game. :'(

Er, were those orange-clad folks wearing red shirts under those orange suits?
Not a good day to be them...ugh. Lovely pics, though!

I am surprised you don't have a moon base in your collection?
Lovely stuff :-* :-* :-*
-
I am surprised you don't have a moon base in your collection?
Well......
I do, it's just very much a (longterm) WIP. However, you have forced me to dig out a box of stuff. ::)
The main base is 30"x25". The small bunkers approx 6"x6".
The base will need internal walls and lots of equipment, consoles, etc
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/56/369-250822160351-562422477.jpeg)
The comms dish (Crooked Dice) is just loosely placed together

What a wonderful thread, Overlord!

Brilliant. Love this :-*

Excellent stuff, Paul!

Are those buildings from GZG's old 25mm range?

Are those buildings from GZG's old 25mm range?
I think they may well be. I bought them on a Bring & Buy years ago. I've not been able to find any listing/photos of them, but had in the back of my mind that was where they are from. Talking to Karl at Crooked Dice last week he thought the same, so that makes 3 of us!
-
Well I’m ashamed to say that I’ve only just caught up with this thread & I must say absolutely fantastic stuff Paul 8) 8) 8) 8)

Great Thread. Almost enough to tempt me into some of those 7TV games.

And now for something completely different... These are small, not far away...

I believe I failed my British Sitcom roll though and am missing some of the in jokes... :(
Love the painting though.
-
That was a lot of fun.
It's the sort of painting I say Ill do just for fun when Im not bowing to the demands of "proper wargaming figures"
