Title: obsidian3d's 2013 Supers Thread
Post by: obsidian3d on January 21, 2013, 07:03:59 PM
Part of a post from my blog (available at http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2013/01/first-finished-items-of-2013.html)

With all the new stuff arriving over the past few weeks, one might think I haven't painted anything. One might be almost correct. I've been painting, I just hadn't finished anything until today. So here's what I've got to share!

First up, three more members of Alpha Flight have been added to the roster.

Aurora

As with all the other figures I've done so far, these are all simple Heroclix conversions. For the most part it's simply paint touch-ups, a quick re-basing and some washes and/or highlights. I'm nearly done with my Alpha Flight squad; and am only planning on adding four more: Vindicator (Heather), Box, Northstar and Talisman. The last two will require some converting or searching for the appropriate models.

And of course I can't resist combining Alpha Flight and Cthulhu-related minis together in my posts, I simply had to take a picture to commemorate the occasion! (I wish I had a little piece of grass mat to have dropped this on, but you'll get the idea.)

Thanks. :) I already have a fairly large batch of completed Alpha Flight figures done, but I thought that starting a new thread for 2013 would be better than having folks wade through pages and pages of updates. One thing I have noticed with my comic-related stuff is that it's much harder to find good representations of villains. I'd like to do a sort of 'Ultimate Omega Flight'. I'll likely just pick characters that I like the look of, or who have cool powers and do what I want. The ones I'm pretty sure that I'll use are:

The Master - natch, best Alpha Flight villain ever! Not sure where to get a good base figure though.
Antiguard - easy enough to convert a Guardian clix with a simple repaint, maybe a little modification.
Diamond Lil - already done, and she is more fun as a villain.
Flashback -cool chance to do up some minions using the SuperSystem rules.
Wild Child -  a few options in 'clix figures.

Go for it, I'd like to see what you do to get Flashback!  He's one of my old favorites, and the closest I've come to doing a 'not' figure.

Omega flight just rocked in general....so did the Derangers that Scramble had, sucked they killed them so fast.

Great work Obsidian.

Where did you get the bases from?

The bases for my figures? They're standard 30mm round-lipped bases. I think these ones are Privateer Press, but lots of companies sell them. Like almost all my other figures I've got some white glue, ballast, little rocks and flocking added on top.

Nice work!

Have Wizkids made a Master figure for the Clix line?  He'd be a great addition to your collection as a villain.
