Anyone do nice figures for this period, circa 1859?
In 28mm, struggling to find anything. In particular am after Sardinian forces.
Cheers
:)

Mirliton ? (more 25 mm)

You, me, and a few others: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49797.0
Try Battle Honors and Mirliton. The ranges seem to be compatible but I dislike the figures.

I used to have the Mirlton figures, they are small and a bit basic but paint up OK.
Just wondering is 20mm an option?

Irregular miniatures apparently has a huge range but is a bit of an acquired taste ;)
-
Great stuff all round. Thanks chaps :)
-
Not sure if this is relevant anymore but Cibos Little Dudes do a comprehensive range in 28mm, nice company to deal with
-
Cibo 's are nice and well detailed to enhance painting details
but, as you asked about 1859 campaign, do not exclude Mirliton range..they are compatible with everything , once painted they look good and..their Piedmontese range is the richest one...with particular types that nobody make..like the "Voloire" mounted artillery, the mounted Carabinieri (military police used as shock troop and personal guard to the King) with their unique flamboyant service dress and hedgear, the light cavalry Hussards of Pavia and Guides, Sapeurs, Bersaglieri in campaign dress, Personalities, line infantry and every cavalry type in campaign dress...
-
The hussards of Pavía weren't sardinians nor italians. They were and are a spanish cavalry unit.
-
you're true
a mistake..i was thinking at "Ussari di Piacenza"

Heroes of the Dark Age do 1859 Austrians. They have line infantry with command with Jagers on the way. They have superb Hussars with again more cavalry on the way. This is a new range and they also do Franco Prussian war 1870. All are in 28mm
-
Yes I had forgotten them, they are nice I know the owner is planning to expand the range, The Austrian foot infantry were sculpted by Martin Baker
-
Call me dense - but I've found FPW but no 1859 figures at the Heroes of the Dark Ages website. Am I missing something?
-
I think they are included under the FPW label?

Yes, look under the Franco Prussian Tag. The range is going to be expanded to include most of the cavalry units. The jagers should be out this month and also the small duchy of Modena figures in July. The website is going to be updated soon so that it is easier to navigate. I will try and post some figure shots over the weekend.

Hi chaps. I am a newbie, and I am trying to download some photos of my collection on the site. Can anyone try and explain to a thick and decrepit wargamer in a simple way how to do it. I am trying to attach the images from a tablet but it says file is too big. Now I know it's me being particularly stupid, so any help would be really appreciated. Hopefully the photos will be worth it once done
-
Just trying to upload a photo to see if I have finally got it cracked. Apologies if nothing comes out.

Just started collecting for the 1859 War. Such a colourful and interesting period to paint and wargame. My intention is to start with the Austrians and French and then add some Piedmont troops. Then hopefully continue into 1860 with Garibaldi and his Red Shirts,These are the first two battalions of Austrians with a unit of Hussars. All produced by Heroes of the Dark Ages
-
Some pictures of Gringo 40's Garibaldi and his Red Shirts. Beautifully produced figures
-
Couple more pictures
-
Very nice figures.
I have some Gringo40's too and just received some HOTDA Austrians, two of which I am painting up now.
I am probably going to use The Men Who Would be Kings as a rule set, using the Dalauppror style 3,2,1 basing.
I'll post some piccies when they're ready.
-
Excellent work, though my own interest is in The First War of Unification, I will be buying some of the above once thd range expands Solferino here I come.
One question how do the Gringos40 figs scale to the others.?
-
The Gringo 40's tend to be on the bigger side of 28mm. The bases are quite thick so they are raised a little bit. Probably would not want to match with others in the same unit but all together they are ok and next to the French they look good. I have attached some pictures of my friends French from Heroes of the Dark Ages, Franco Prussian range. We had a big game at the Exeter Legionary show a few weeks back.

Thanks Emir. Would love to see some pictures. Never thought about Tmwwbk for this. Now that would be a good idea.
Thanks Shipka. Your enthusiasm for wars in the 19th century has been one of the main reasons that started me on to this period. My credit card and wife thank you as well!!!!!!!!!
-
They look great! Well done!

Interesting... where can I find some more information?
-
They look great, can't wait to see more :)
-
Glad to have provided the inspiration , like you my Bank Manager throws his hands up !
-
Adam from Heroes of the Dark Ages sent this green of the new Austrian Jager that is coming out for 1859. Sculptered by Martin Baker.
-
Would love to see the ref pic for the above fig........Can see it in a Prisoner of zenda setting
-
That's a nice figure and more importantly it's nice to see the range progressing !
-
Can I ask how Gringo40s, Steve Barber, Mirliton and Heroes of the Dark Age mix each other? I'm still trying to figure out. Also I'm very interested in TMWWBK conversions for Italian Unifications Wars.
