We had the opportunity to introduce a new player to Pulp Alley last night. In addition, we’re playtesting some of the new Weird perks/abilities for our upcoming Perilous Island campaign.
Mila decided to play a simple Smash and Grab since it was Josh’s first time playing. The plot points were rolled randomly –
Major Plot Point – Crystal Amulet (required to unlock the hidden tomb of King Ila-kabkabu)
Plot Point – Electrical Generator (sabotage to disable the traps around the Amulet)
Plot Point – Cryptic Message (indicating the location of the missing piece of the map – stuffed in a bottle)
Plot Point – Incomplete Map (indicates a part of the information needed to locate King Ila-kabkabu’s tomb)
Plot Point – Bound Prisoner (Miss Cadence is bound and gagged aboard the small boat)
Both leagues are drawn to the village by anonymous letter, and there is a fotune in jewels and gold at stake…
Just before dawn, Baron Charnock and his militia enter the village from the north –

The mysterious Stranger and Collector arrive by the south gate –

THANKS!

Another great write up.
Love your shore terrain.
-
This was a really fun scenario. We had a lot of fun testing out the weird abilities and the shapeshifter was really cool. :D
-
Excellent as always, well done.
-
Absolutely brilliant! As always, with your games the attention to detail is fantastic. I really liked the market stalls. Having a character called The Collector is really eerie and we need to hear more about the mysterious Stranger! Looking forward to the next report, thanks!
-
Great as usual!
One idea for something to build next might be some docks or a sort of waterfront building.

Yup, a dock is next on the terrain project list.
What sort of watterfront building would you suggest? Any pics?
THANKS!

Two options spring to mind.
A warehouse (i.e. a large building with open interior space), that you could put next to the docks without it actually being integral to them.
Or a boathouse, which hangs out over the water, with an entrance on land and sometimes an internal dock around the inner wall. Essentially a garage for smaller boats.
Here's a somewhat elaborate example of the second:

Both options offer some interior space for gaming if you add removable roofs, yet are plain enough inside that you won't really need to do that much more work as compared to a closed building.
-
I don't know if this picture helps? It's something I'm working on at the moment, although it may not suit your buildings and terrain. The roof is designed to lift off.

Great AAR and great terrain! :-*
Any waterfront should have a seedy bar. It can hide all kinds of things vital to the plot, and have escape routes to the dock and a hidden motorboat or seaplane.
-
Guess it's time to build a dock. I got the pieces all cut out...

More to come! :D

That's just showing off....... :o
-
..but inspirational, I'm sure!

Well that was quick!

Aye! What pulp game is complete without a dingy dive for clandestine meetings?
-
Mad Lord, I picked up the Ainsty Stone Dock too, but I also have the wooden PMC one.
-
Do you have a URL for the PMC one? I don't think I've seen that one?
-
They're on EBay...

Thanks, Joroas. I must have seen them somewhere before because I've made one out of cocktail sticks and coffee-stirrers and it looks exactly the same!
But I bet Mr. Phipps produces a better one! Looking forward to his next picture.....
-
Yours turned out great, Snapcase! Thanks for all the inspiration and ideas. :D
There still more to do, but here's how it looks so far...

Oh hey, you already do have a warehouse!
-
That is really excellent. The whole town looks really busy. All it needs is a small boy fishing off the dock!! :D
