SWEET! =) A mel gibson figure is on the bench, righ? :D

Let's hope so. The bench is the best place for him ;)

lol
-
Come on, give Mel a break....I hear Obama has nominated him to be the USA's next ambassador to Israel, as Obama wants to strengthen ties with them lol
-
Will there be any firing/loading poses?
-
If it's like their other plastics - I doubt it. While they make nice stuff, they seem to stick to "en masse" bread and butter poses. Not much in the way of dynamism or skirmish...ism. So, lots of bulk soldiers for a reasonable cost. Looks good, I just wish Perry's were a tiny bit bigger.
-
and I would like to see a bit more variety in the uniform suggestions - I am kind of missing the regular loyalists
a bit too much red....
and maybe also what other than british might go with the figures, if it is possible anyway

I second that.

I think this is true of Alan Perry's 'big battalions' output - Napoleonic, ACW, and now AWI. He seems to favour just one or two poses per set. So these AWI Brits can basically be at the advance or at trail - and that's it. But this isn't the case with Michael Perry's work. The WOTR sets are genuinely multipose - you can create pretty much endless permutations, particularly once you start mixiing the sets. Same with the Sudanese ansar (which I think were by Michael). And clearly it's going to be the case with the forthcoming WWII Western Desert sets. True multipose versatility. So personally, I'd like to see more of Michael's work and less of Alan's making it through the Renedra bottleneck. But I appreciate there are legions of Napoleonic and ACW fans out there who will disagree :)
-
Now that you mention it, you're right. I have a single box of WOTR and it's quite brilliant...I was thinking merely of the Cavalry and Infantry boxes for the ACW that I have. I don't have a problem with bread and butter units really, as there are tons of great AWI models out there to choose from.

I leave this here:American Patriot (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=6260.0)

Looking good for M&T and lots of conversion possiblity...

It seems you should be able to use arms from their Napoleonic British Line Infantry box, since the armament is very nearly the same, and so are the cuffs. At worst you'd need to remove some wings (since lights and grenadiers are not represented here), and be careful of which poses you use since the manual of arms updated with changes the position of loading and fixing bayonets between these two wars.
And if the 3rd India Pattern Bess is noticeably different from the 2nd Short Land at this scale, then Bravo Perry Brothers!
In any case, i can't wait for these figures. They're what I've been hoping for since the first plastic ACW sculpts were announced...

I assume link was difficult to find, I thought links are automatically different color...
American Patriot by Ian Mountain for zombiesmith

It is about a same size as metal Perry AWI and Conquest FIW.

We're pleased to announce the Plastic British AWI are now ready for pre-order. There are more pictures of the figures on the site including the command sprue.
All the best
Alan

Wonderful set. But no shouldered arms option is a real bummer.

agreed :(

About muskets, how about using napoleonic british arms?
Maybe cutting and swapping locks, or is there other differences than lock?
-
There isn't much difference between the 2nd Short Land Pattern Brown Bess of the AWI and the Napoleonic 3rd India Pattern Brown Bess, and likely not that much visibly at this scale. Main visual difference is a slightly shorter length.
Your biggest issues using Napoleonic arms would be two things:
1. Uniform: the lace on the cuffs is all grouped together on the Napoleonic era tunic, while the RevWar coats have the cuff buttons and lace equidistant around the whole cuff
2. Manual of arms. The poses presented in the Napoleonic Line Infantry box are based on the manual exercise of the time, which changes drastically from the previous version (1764), most notably in fixing bayonets on the ground instead of holding the musket by the swell in the left hand, so I would avoid using these arms. Likewise anyone loading/ramming with the butt of the musket on the ground is inappropriate for AWI period.
Otherwise they should be interchangable...
[note: oops. Already posted this before, and in the same thread. :o Feel free to remove]

Late as usual. I'll be getting some of these as all my other British are in Saratoga caps.
