I once saw someone modify the Lord of the Rings skirmish to Japan, and Dux Britanniarum too. I think they're on some Yahoo groups as downloads.

There is a Samurai army list in the original Armies of Antiquity supplement for Warhammer Ancients. That is what I would use. There might also be a variant of The Sword and the Flame that might work. It all depend on what level of command you want to get into and how much chrome you are looking for. Do you want whether a figure is armed with a katana or naganata to matter? What kind of command and control do you want? Are you looking for something on the level of Yojimbo where it is skirmish or are we talking Rashamon?

I know nothing of Feudal Japan, but Hail Ceasar is a very flexible set that might suit your needs.

3 sets of LOTR, 2 on yaho group third on Wargames illlustratd site, I am tweeking the three to suit my games.

Bush no Ymue based on Flying Lead/SOBH is a good set too produced by Rich J. Quite technical but a canny game once you get your head around the terminology
