Mainly this week, aside from the arena in a tin, I've been working on trunks, suitcases and hat boxes. I need some for my interwar dabbles in VBCW, but thought they might prove useful for a lot of periods from colonial to post ww2, from pulp to wild west, etc. I've put a lot of effort into these, mainly because they were great fun and drew incredulity from my family in both time, effort and detail - and possibly some concern over whichever disorder they believe this signifies.

I'm just about to put these into rubber and with the weather being chilly they'll take far to long to cure, so expect to seen a test cast of these tomorrow. ;)
-
Fine work there! :-* I hope we can purchase these later on?
-
Nice Phil! I would certainly pick up a few if you're selling them.
-
exceptional work!
I'd be interested too
also in You specifying the research You have put into it, meaning I can't recognize 100% what what is and what period it comes from
-
Really, really nice!
-
I'm sure my Victorian types can make use of those trunks, if not the suitcases, nicely done!
-
Thanks chaps. They will be available, hopefully from next week. I've evolved to painting stuff before I sell them and that might take some time, but should you want them before that no problem. I should start casting them tomorrow.
Research was really simple thanks to google image search, found images which fitted what I felt was right and then ran with them. My favourite bits were the buckles on straps around one of the suitacases and one of the trunks - they seemed impossible when I started but turned out much simpler than impossible, and the padlock on a trunks. I had to hold back from putting both straps and padlocks on them all I really did.
-
for my part I am not in a hurry
And I will be able to recognize better when You have painted them ;)
-
These look fantastic! How did you make them?
-
They're plastic card, rod, strip and a little bit of milliput and liquid greenstuff. Basically I've made a box, filled it with milliput to be solid and then decorated them with the details. Very fiddly but great fun.
-
They all look fantastic!! :o :o Well done!!
-
Excellent work. I look forward to their availability.
-
Cor! Not bad at all. :-*
-
Looking splendid.
How much will they cost, and can we see a pic next to a couple of figures?
-
Don't know cost until I've cast them as weight is a big factor in their price, and yes there'll be a figure in the picture of them painted, although the 1cm gridded cutting mat they're on in that photo is a clue to their size.
-
I could absolutely use a set or three of these for pulp games, they'd be awesome for encounter markers!
-
These look great! Looking forward to picking some up!
-
Outstanding! Richard
-
Gotta get me some of these, Phil.
More great stowage for those apocalyptic, adventuring types!
;)
Are they available yet, sir?
:D
-
Count me in too.
I was just looking for something like this
-
Thanks for the positive feedback. Test cast is in the mould as I type, I'll post a picture of them as soon as I've pulled them. They'll be available from later this week.
e2a: Test cast okay but I didn't degas wholly properly hence the bubble on the handle of the trunk 2nd from right. Next test in, hold your breath as the excitement mounts... o_o

Lovely pieces! Will they be available from you directly or some particular shop?
-
Looking good, Phil.
Put me down for a set as soon as they are ready.
:D

Ditto on this and where is the rest of your work available?
Snitchy sends.
-
These are fabulous. I really respect that these are completely scratch-built. They look amazing!
-
Count me in for some baggage.
-
I'm genuinely moved by the keenness expressed, so I'm putting these up for sale prior to having painted a set. They're Ģ5 a set and the thread is here http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=51310.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=51310.0)
My other stuff is over on my not very good sales blog http://slugindustries.wordpress.com (http://slugindustries.wordpress.com) not everything is immediately apparent and I'm not happy with it. I'm trying to find a better way of doing this, perhaps I should start a thread.
-
PM sent Phil!

Ditto!

Too right! I wasn't missing out on these beauties! I've been after something like this for the Little Marskeham station platform for ages. Now the Home Guard will have something to protect!

Spot on!
Those larger trunks will be where the Cultists keep their stash (and their jockstraps!) in our games of Strange Aeons in future.... ;)
-
I could use a fair lot of those too...
-
This Friday is payday, I know where my spot of "payday mad money" is going, I think!
-
PMed and paid for; those are almost essential for my (soon to be re-ignited) pulp campaign! 8)
-
I updated on the (SALE) thread but worth repeating here - All paid for orders are now in the post. I have a sneaking suspicion that my overseas euro-cousins may get theirs before the Brits... ::)
-
Not sure what kind of postal services you use but I wish all companies would use the same one :o
Ordered 2 days ago; received today in the Netherlands!
DJ
BTW: they look great
-

Got mine this morning too.
:o
Second Class...?
Cant wait to see First!
-
Well they're under 50 grams so you get airmail for abroad, and recorded for the UK for about the same price. And I cast, pack and send them as soon as you've paid. Glad you're happy. 8)
-
Sadly mine did n't arrive today... :'(
-
Mine arrived and they are top notch! Thanks Phil.

The postman interrupted me while I was placing a first class order. :o

PM sent, received and answered :D

Paypal monies sent in for three sets. It's my way of congratulating myself on surviving to another payday!
As I said to Phil in PM, these will make great encounter markers for pulp games, as well as just simple scenery and clutter in pulp games. I'm amazed none of the other scenery outfits have filled this little niche, but happy Phil has!
One could even say he's philled it?
... I'll get my coat...
-
Found some luggage on my doormat today; great stuff Phil; I might come back for more at some point... :)
-
I might come back for more at some point... :)
Me, too.
I have thought of a few more uses for them, so I may need to.
::)

My baggage sets showed up yesterday, I finally had a chance to have a quick look at them this evening. Awesome stuff, really clean castings.
The biggest steamer trunk is about waist high on a 28mm figure and about as long as a figure is tall, just for scale. I'll get some pics over the weekend, and probably do a quick review on my blog too!
Thanks for making these, they're going to be a really neat addition to my scenery collection.
I should add that I got three "miscasts" with my three packs of luggage, and except for the one trunk with a blob of resin on the lid the other two "miscasts" could have been sold as-is and I likely wouldn't have batted an eye - just casting bubbles around the handles is all!
Edit to add: I snapped a quick photo of my own and put up a bit of a review over on my blog (http://www.warbard.ca/2013/03/21/28mm-pulp-baggage-review/).

Thanks guys, seeing photos of them in a far away land is an odd sensational but one I appreciate. I must finish painting mine I think... ::)

Travelling to distant places. Thatīs what luggage is made for, isnīt it?
-

Aye, but now I can't find my socks.
Next week I hope to post these on my poor excuse for a web site, and these pieces will have to go up in price because?:
a) I'm an idiot who can't work out his prices properly.
b) I'm a greedy capitalist pig emulating the very worst excesses of corporations.
c) The price of resin went up.
d) I didn't account for the paypal fees.
e) A combination of the above.
Anyone who orders a set before then can still have them at Ģ5 a set though... that's the good news.
-
Two of my trunks on Guam, but ready for Pulp action worldwide :D :D

Thanks and off course you can have a copie, just send you an e-mail (if your address stated under your avatar is the correct one)

Great work Za. I like the way you based them. I am eagerly awaiting my sets. :)

Thank you, the round bases are made by Sarissa Precision to match the floors of their (my) Old West buildings. The square one is a peace of left-over wall from a building sawn in the right dimensions. The luggage is very charming and they paint up really well. I just basecoated them and then a heavy overbrush with a lighter color and a wash of ArmyPainter strongtone wash (same as GW Devlan Mud).

Za

Got them thanks!
Bad news on the pricing front, I'm having to ask Ģ6.50 a set for these, mainly to cover the resin price increase, the paypal fees and I want a luxury speedboat by the end of the year. The Post Office has also put their prices up, so anywhere outside the UK is now Ģ4 but you do get airmail for that. Apologies for the encroachment of capitalism into the hobby, viva the revolution!
-
I just received my two sets in the mail Phil. Worth every penny. :D
I will have to root around for some appropriate bases. I was thinking along the same lines as you described Za as I have a can of the AP wash I'm using in my warlord games Brits. Hopefully they turn out as nice as yours. :)
-
Glad you liked them.
Now I've had one problem with a delivery not turning up, to a chap in one of the Scandinavian countries. But I've lost track of who it is, could you get in touch please?
-

I bet you are gutted that Bullseye aint around any more, Phil.... ::)

Let's see what I could have won!
