I tested a self made game ( Walking DAD ). I show you some of the pictures I made during the game.
The two groups start at one table edge and must reach the basketball field and pull something into the entrence. Sorry for my bad Englisch.

On this pictures you see the groups preparing to turn the marker on thr first floor of the ruin. The dice throw was very bad and three Zombies appear. There are two possibles, if Ed loose the combat. One ist, that he is infected and the other is a kill. They killed Ed.

Here an other marker is turned. The dice roll was ok, and a crying girl appeared, followed by two Zombies. The group decides to hide, so nothing happened. The other possibility was to help the girl and attack the two Zombies. But in this case time was running. Because of the loud noise they done, Zombies appear all around the groups.

Kitty is attacked from behind, but she killed the Zombie in close combat.

In the middle of the basketball field is another marker. The groups had no time, so they decide to go into the field and hope that the dice for the marker rolls well.

The dice for the marker rolls the best result. Between the barrels a guy appeared and helps the groups saving the front entrence. Püppie closes the other entrence and the group was save.
The game was very close. The groups rolled very , very good dice ( Zombie kill only by rolling 6, if shooting )

Question about Püppie:
is the material that mini is cast from the type that has some give to it or is it brittle? I hate 'sideways' gun pose but like that girl, and wonder if the arm could survive a very slow twisting of it to put the gun right way. What do you think, would it twist or would it break?

Very nice! I really like the basketball court, it looks great. It has given me ideas for more new terrain!

Spielbericht II:
Because I am not so good in English Speaking - this report in German language - sorry
Ziel: Vom Dach der Lagerhalle sehen die Gruppenmitglieder ein weinendes Mädchen auf dem Dach eines U-förmigen Hauses. Dies soll erreicht werden. Das Mädchen beteiligt sich nicht am Spielgeschehen, läuft aber dem ersten Gruppenmitglied, welches das Dach erreicht entgegen und fällt ihm in die Arme. Wird das Szenario fortgesetzt ( und wieder versucht die Lagerhalle zu erreichen ), wird das Mädchen von diesem Spieler geführt. Sie bleibt waffenlos und verteidigt sich lediglich bei einem Angriff.
Vom Dach des Hauses auf dem die Gruppe das Spiel beginnt, kann keiner herunterschießen, da sehr starker böiger Wind herrscht und sich keine der Gruppen wagt an den Rand des Dachs zu gehen.
Zeitbegrenzung: max. 20 Runden

Mila, Lucie und Shaun, mit ihren zombiziden Spiegelbildern. Auf dem Dach der Lagerhalle wird der dortige Marker ausgelöst und eine verwahrloste Gestalt taucht zwischen den Trümmern auf. Kitty gibt ihm, nachem er ( Doc ) sich der Gruppe angeschlossen hat, eine ihrer Pistolen.

Die Gruppen erledigen in der Lagerhalle alle Zombies problemlos. Außerhalb des Tors sieht man einen Marker und den Rand eines Horden Stands. Der Würfelwurf für den Marker ergibt eine Hordenbewegung und zwar die, welche der Gruppe am nächsten steht ( sch..... - nun wird Blut fliessen ). Das war natürlich Pech. Lucie wird attackiert und infiziert. Der Rest der Gruppe flieht wieder auf das Dach.

Noch bevor die infizierte Lucie und die Horde auf dem Dach erscheinen seilt sich die Gruppe vom Dach ab. Lucie wird von nun an die Gruppe bis zum Spielende verfolgen. ( Außerachlassung aller Reichweiten ). An der Hausecke erledigt Ben einen Zombie im Nahkampf.

Der Marker im Innenhof des Grundstücks ergibt zwei Zombies. Auf der Straße wird Ben zum Helden und schwingt kräftig seine Axt. Der Weg scheint nicht mehr weit. Mehrere Horden sind zu hören.

Das kleine Mädchen beginnt zu hoffen, als es die Gruppen sieht. Ben wieder im Nahkampf, bekämpft alle nachfolgenden Zombies, wird aber ständig attackiert. Doc lockt im Vordergrund die Zombie Horde auf sich und ermöglicht der Gruppe das Haus zu erreichen. Kitty, Shaun und Mila erreichen das Dach und finden das Mädchen. Wo aber ist der Rest der Gruppen. Sally hängt sehr weit nach und kann nicht folgen!

Ben hat übermenschliches geleistet und Sally vor dem sicheren Ende bewahrt. Leider wird er von den Z niedergemacht. Doc kann der Horde nicht standhalten und wird infiziert. Grrrrrrr
Sally kann sich dank Ben auf das Dach des Schuppens retten ( leider kein Foto )

Das war wieder super knapp. Leider war ich gegen Ende des Spiels so im Spielrausch, dass ich teils vergessen habe Fotos zu machen. Die Regeln haben wieder sehr gut funktioniert. Lediglich Kleinigkeiten in der Feinabstimmung wurden modofiziert. Das Gewehr ( nun mit Zielfernrohr ) war doch ein wenig heftig und musste wieder runtergefahren werden. Sally hat mit ihrer Flinte 11 Z erledigt. Die Schrotflinte von Shaun war sehr stimmig ( tödlich, aber mit sehr wenig Nachladern und wenig Munition). Die Sache mit den Infizierten Gruppenmitgliedern war ziemlich lustig. Wir haben dann aber nicht mehr weiter gespielt ( Uhrzeit ) und blieben dann auf dem Dach.
Das Spiel dauerte 3 Stunden und 19 Runden. Diesmal waren es sehr viele Nahkämpfe. Die Zombie Horden waren unglaublich stimmig.

I Try to make a game with an gamemaster. I hope it funktioned.
Story:
Prof. Eibmoz is a scientist, working with 60 helpers for the government on a secret project. His laboratory is subterranien unter his house. The aera is secured by some fences. His two daughter life also there.
Some day something goes wrong in the laboratory. A telephon call reaches the government, but they only hear the voice from a child. Then the call ends.
They send two spezial troops in a tarned ambulence car to the aera.

Very careful the troops entered the aera. They see some marker, but nothing happened. They wonder - must be spezial marker. Suddenly they hear a voice from a higher port. It´s the assisstent from Prof. Eibmoz. He told the troops to save Eibmoz´s kids. He would stay there and blow up the aera in a few minutes ( 10 rounds ). He do not answere any questions.

When the groups hear the words of the assistent, they suddenly hear other voices. They hear grunting and roaring. Prof Eibmoz comes out of the bushes, as a zombie. When the trooper shot the Eibmoz, the roaring grows louder.
( every marker inside the fences turned into 4 zombies ). A Zombie horde arrived beside the house.

From now on everything was very fast and dangerous. First close combat with the leader of the Trooper.

When they enter the car all around them were zombies. Two lifes were gone. The two girls and two trooper started the car.

I beg pardon for my very very bad English.
The rules work, with little midifications for this game only ( Zombies move a little bit faster ).
At the end the game was extrem fast and dangerous. The two trooper leave their camerads dieing, but if they help, they lost their life too.
Michael was not amused about this decision.
It was a two hour game. I had forgotten to count the rounds. The assistent had forgotten to blow up the aera

Yes the parking level is the same as the U-Bahn level and it´s on the opposite side. This week I start the B-level for the second plate ( under the super market )

The next Test Game was with the 6 Spezial Z
It lasts two and a half hour
We shot 5 Spezials and 19 Z
Own losses = 0
The car of the group was out of fuel - Grandma Broun try to find fuel in the cars on the highway - the others try to find fuel on the supermarket parking aera.
After hard fighting Kitty turns to help Grandma Broun.
Suzi found fuel - Rest was not too difficult.
Result: Now the rules for weapons functiond perfect.
The spezial Z where very difficult to calculate, because they have different distances for activation, but bring very great joice.

First: The name "DAD" rules is not a mistake. I doe´s not mean "DEAD". It comes from my doughters - they call me every time "DAD". I think it was funny to call the game Walking DAD.
Somebody told me, that I coul become problems, when I take the Name "Walking DEAD" - Now I call my Rules "DAD" rules.
Second: I´m a great fan from Eric Burton´s song Tobacco road. In this song I hear the words " No place to run, no place to hide". This are the right words, that must be on the cover -
"nowhere to run, nowhere to hide" it´s a mistake - sorry

This project is absolutely breathtaking. Lots of brilliant ideas and an overall top notch execution.
But i have to say the weapon shop is one of the weakest pieces so far. The counter with the pistols looks excellent but the blood splatter on the wall doesn't look as good as on previously shown pieces and the high racks with the guns seems a little bit uninspired. It just looks like a board with glued on guns. I understand that they are installed higher too prevent customers from grabbing guns but for me it looks weird.
Several weapon lockers with (un)damaged glass screens with the guns glued on horizontal would look bettter in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong this project is breathtaking! But imho the weapon shop could be improved.

My girls call my game "Dad's Game" so I like your title.
I agree with Arcturus about the weapon shop. The rifle display which is so high just needs something underneath it to tie it down visually to the floor. Either display shelves or a 'half' counter along the wall easily crafted with scrap pieces of foamboard and craft sticks or even just a printout image of shelves.

VERY nice work on the vegetables, but the greenhouse itself could need a bit more love :) Normally Greenhouses are made from smaller Windowparts which are sitting in a Aluminumframework. Maybe some silverpainted Platiccardstripes on the outside to cut this big windows optically. And a bit more weathering on the glass would be cool as well.

sidenote: I never understand why, when faced with bitey, scratchy, chompy, undead, survivors opt for summer apparel. What's with tank tops, shorts and ball caps? You'd think hockey pads, riot gear, even a denim jacket would be the first order of business. Just sayin'...

You run faster and can swing your bat better.

Even just a tac vest is hot and uncomfortable to wear, and inhibits range of motion. Riot gear is miserable to wear, especially the heavier you go. But I would wear loose shirts that I can discard easily.

You could use the grass area as an illegal tipping area for rubbish. All the allotments I know have them! Piles of junk like mattresses, old chairs, etc.

A small fenced Square Area with condensors and electrical devices to turn high power electricity in lower one. Could be a Electrical Supply station for the Houses around. With a little bigger fenced Area and a moveable gate it could be a little shelter for survivors to get a rest from the zombies as well.

For the small grassy area what about a cell phone tower?
They're small but add some nice height for those willing to risk it.
Or go with the trash pile for cover as suggested above.
An out of gas car pulled off there might work as well.

You would want to avoid having something tall at the edge of the table. If it'll be usually in the middle then the tower will not get in the way.
I think a small fenced off area will work. Or maybe a children's playground?

I have a few more questions, pardon if they have been addressed somewhen during the thread:
- How does minis activate; does the whole survivor faction activate, then the zeds (IGOUGO or alternate activation)?
- Are there cards or dice to determine sequence of activation?
- What kind of dice are used?
- Is the target number to hit/wound fixed or depending on target's stats?

It´s not so easy for me, to discribe exactly ( my bad English ), but I try.
Phase 1: Survivor actions ( it´s a point systhem ) - suvivors have points - and actions cost this points.
Phase 2: Any Z in seeing or hearing range are activated.
Phase 3: Close combat
There are many counters ( selfmade ) wich are activated too, when survivors are in range ( something happened - maybe good, but most times bad ).
You need W6 and one or two W10 or W20
You need selfmade cards, for the value of the survivor ( examples are shown )
I have rules for weapons - for creating characters - using cars - for fighting other enemy survivors - there are pictures wich show the creation of the first two parts of my table -
I have some missions - there is the expert modus, with the Zombie catarcters - there are cards for 4 survivors, but it´s easy to create some own - rules for darkness and so on
I hope my bad English is understanable

Zeds react to the actions of the survivors just after all players have finished their activations using their available action points - then fights are resolved.
Makes sense - it has some similarity to Dead walk Again, then, also the use of Action Points (which is nice).
You seem to have events triggered by survivors moving in range of event(?)-counters, which add tension to the game, also a nice feature.
I really need to schedule getting some more shamblers done for modern/zombiecalypse games ::)
Too many games and minis, so precious little time...

Seriously though, you are right. I can't imagine the first game anyone plays on that table to progress even a bit. One just has to be busy investigating and praising that board rather than concentrating on the game.

Hi, thank you all,
but I think this thread ends in 2-3 weeks.
Next week is the tactica in Hamburg and we present our projekt for the second time in Hamburg.
After this we start with another project for tactica 2016. I don´t exactly know wich project is our faforite theme - there are many ideas.
I think that I will post some pictures from the tactica Z game.
In the future we will play some Z games and if there is much interest, I will post game reports.

Good question - I don´t know, wher I store the table.
News:
many people send mails to me, that we do not stop the DAD Z projekt.
So - we start creating a new Z table - not as big, as the last one - I think about 80 x 80 cm
with morast - with pile work buildings - sunken industrie buildings - bridges - sunken cars - and so on

Ohh, they cannot climb on roofs - it was only the starting point - inside the building.

I tested a self made game ( Walking DAD ). I show you some of the pictures I made during the game.
The two groups start at one table edge and must reach the basketball field and pull something into the entrence. Sorry for my bad Englisch.

On this pictures you see the groups preparing to turn the marker on thr first floor of the ruin. The dice throw was very bad and three Zombies appear. There are two possibles, if Ed loose the combat. One ist, that he is infected and the other is a kill. They killed Ed.

Here an other marker is turned. The dice roll was ok, and a crying girl appeared, followed by two Zombies. The group decides to hide, so nothing happened. The other possibility was to help the girl and attack the two Zombies. But in this case time was running. Because of the loud noise they done, Zombies appear all around the groups.

Kitty is attacked from behind, but she killed the Zombie in close combat.

In the middle of the basketball field is another marker. The groups had no time, so they decide to go into the field and hope that the dice for the marker rolls well.

The dice for the marker rolls the best result. Between the barrels a guy appeared and helps the groups saving the front entrence. Püppie closes the other entrence and the group was save.
The game was very close. The groups rolled very , very good dice ( Zombie kill only by rolling 6, if shooting )

Amazing array of miniatures painted up and cool realistic comprehensive scenery. Rules look nice too.

Wow! What a great thread! The terrain board is awesome, Love the idea of the terrain board in the game shop of your Own Board! The "Down Helicopter" is a great idea as well plus all the sub terrain stuff as well. Just a lot of great things I really hope to see more!
