Title: Lava-surfing Drow Newlyweds
Post by: Limaike on March 06, 2013, 06:19:27 AM
These minis were painted as a wedding gift for an old D&D buddy of mine. They are: 1) Dorva, Female Dark Elf (Reaper), 2) Dark Elf Prince (Avatars of War) and 3) Marek Manslayer, Evil Warrior (also Reaper). The barb represents my buddy's brother who also used to game with us.

The bases are mdf discs with lumps of bark stuck on top. The pieces of bark were taken from a single lump so they fit together to form a small vignette. The swirls in the lava were obtained by moving a toothpick around in a layer of Araldite as it dried. Lava bubbles were made in the standard way, by rolling a ball of milliput, letting it dry, then cutting off the sections required.

Sadly they'll probably never make it to a gaming table- they're really mementos of lead adventures past.

Hope y'all like them.

Lovely work and nice choice of minis... that Marek is one of few minis Tre Manor did for Reaper, I think?

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I looked at Tre's own line at Red Box Miniatures (some very cool minis there) but was afraid the scale would be too small.

The male Drow and barb were chosen to fit in with Werner Klocke's Drow Female, which is a largish sculpt. There aren't many female Drow minis out there that don't look like witches or um...yunnowhat, and i thought my mate's bride should be represented by something a little more wholesome (or at least fully-clothed).
