Just got this email from the Artizan Yahoo group:
The first figures are molded and we will have preview figures on
> Marks stand at Salute with maybe 30 sets for sale there on the day. Its
> a whole new range for both of us inspired by sixties spy films and
> books, so there are villains, cat suited women and suave agents all over
> the desk. We are hoping to have a game to go along side them but no
> definite time line for this at the moment.
>
Oh my, what a great idea, James Bond , Matt Helm, "In like Fint" anyone
:D
-
Will this message self destruct in the next 30 seconds?
"cat suited women and suave agents" Steed & Emma Peel perhaps?
-
Great news - excellent idea.
I loved the 'No One Lives Forever' games so I hope to see some fezzed baddies (hang on - Mike does those already) and female agents.

Great idea or what about the Man from Uncle? :D
-
Hmm didnt see that one coming
-
Awesome. :)
Looks like a good time to stock up on those Boiler Suited henchmen from Black Hat I've been looking at.

There is no bloody chance for a working man and father of one to keep up with these fellows. Still, a lovely idea, through and through.
-
Wonder if they'll do The Man From Uncle or The Prisoner?

WHO IS NUMBER ONE?

Groovy
(http://members.optusnet.com.au/~waynedavidson/jkfilmhead1.jpg)
-
I would also like to add that this range is further evidence that we are in the Golden Age of Miniatures, where our every whim and desire is met with excellent tiny metal men.
-
Groovy

That is such stylish look, I think we all need to cultivate luxurious facial hair. If we start growing them now, we will be instantly recognisable at Salute next week. People will say look there goes a LAFer

don't know if its really a blessing or a curse (for our wallets)
But I'll sticky for the blessing! Sanity and Wealth are for those who do not pursue the Lead Mountain! :)

I guess it's time for a .45 sixties version, isn't it?
-
I hope there are some boiler-suited villains in hard-hats toting grease-gun submachine guns...
Then I'll have an excuse to build a 28mm scale oil rig-cum-villain's lair.
It explains why there have been precious few new releases from Copplestone in the last 6 months - clearly he's been busy with this project...
Can't wait to see them :)

From Copplestone mailing list
KISS KISS BANG BANG
We`ll also have the first figures in our new joint Copplestone/Artizan 1960`s spies and secret agents range. Full packs won`t be available but we`ll have at least 16 character models on sale as singles - half by me and half sculpted by Mike Owen. Typically I`ve started at the wackier end of the range with some Carry On lookalikes- Mike`s been more sensible, I think..
Carry what ?
meow,
Matt
-
It is a UK tv-series with little appeal outside of that country. Have a gander at the avatars of many of the Brit co-adventureres and you'll see a few of the characters.
-
ok that destroy all my plans for miniatures these year I MUST HAVE THEM ALL

Like you said :
;-) I'd just had to see who'd bite.
I'm not really good at english writing, but at least, I can read it
Don't you notice my wink ? In fact, I didn't know how to say queekly that this news should drive mad all the Carry On fans here...
But thank you very much for your consideration
meow,
Matt

I can have a lead Barbara Windsor avatar! Woo-hoo!

Where have you been? http://blackhat.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1348
We used 007 as a minor theme for the Overlord 2007 show, as Casino Royale came out around the same time.
I wanted to do a participation game on the Bond theme, but as usual just didnt have the time.
I was going to convert some Copplestone suits to secret agent types and paint up a bunch of his 'Babes with guns' etc. http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FW
All of it was just an excuse to go overboard and build a villainous secret base.
Now maybe I will, without having to do any conversions. 8)
Hopefully the new miniatures will be more 'Artizan-sized' than the more recent Copplestones.
That way the Geezers range from Killer B Games http://www.killerbgames.com/geezersshutit.html can be used with them and vice versa.
Do you expect me to look at the new miniatures at Salute?
No Mr Bond, I expect you to buy!
-

Is Grimm the new Bond villain!? If so, who is his loyal sidekick?

Hmmm... Yes, they are indeed boiler-suited villains in hard hats.
Now, how to put this nicely?
I'm hopeful that Copplestone / Owen versions might be a bit more - erm...
Well let's just say some 28mm figures are about as stylish as Bond Bugs, whilst others are Aston-Martin DB5s
-
Can't wait for these.

I agree entirely. I was just pointing out availability.

Great news. I'd like to see "Our man Flint" with his phone complete with sound of course! Just love the zany action of him and of course my all time favourite "The Man from UNCLE" Have the DVDs and so retro

Matt Helm....
And of course, we must have..............Inspector Clouseau.
"Dew yeh ave a lizance foer that minkey?"
-
I think that the heroes should come in several variants, according to the location of the scene.
For instance, the heroic spy should be available in -
a) Savile Row suit (narrow lepels, 1962 look)
b) evening dress
c) wetsuit
d) black roll neck sweater for night ops
e) casual beachwear
The player would be required to swap out his personal figure according to the scene, so that he would absolutely need a model in evening clothes to enter the casino. Except if it's in Miami, in which case option 'e' would be allowed.
Female characters would need -
a) a bikini
b) an evening gown
c) something from the Dior collection for Spring 1964
d) a towel
-
Don't forget winterwear for St. Moritz.
-

I certainy is. Who made it? Its a Dr Who scenario, isn't it?
-
Cool Idea, talk two years ago at Salute with Copplestone about doing a James Bond, but the real one (Sean Connery). Hope they will do Connery and the sixty Villain Dr. No...
-
I think Lead Adventurers who have been around a while might be able to guess who I'm hoping is covered by a 'not-' figure in this range...

*g* Of course, that one's a must!
-
Captain - The Oil Rig was made by Darren at Black Knight Studios and I've used it for a Doctor Who Miniatures Game scenario. Black Knight have no website but I'll send you a PM if you want his address.
http://www.drwhominiatures.co.uk/index.html
The scenario featured Sea Devils, Silurians and UNIT from the original series
-
I knew there was a reason why I am collecting James Bond Cars :D I just wish I could get a MK4 Zepyr stretched Limo like I saw on Billion Dollar Brain the other day .
Who wants a Micheal Cain figure ?
-
Has anyone contac Rattrap for a new .45 Adventure-Book called "Thunderraker" or "Dr. Moonball"???
-
I guess it's time for a .45 sixties version, isn't it?

This should answer that :D

Although I hated the Austin Powers films, I just can't stand Mike Meyers, there would be something kind of funny about a rules set called either
Groovy Adventures or Shagging Adventures
I don't think that would be necessarily the angle that Rich wants to take, but you never know.
Oddly enough, before I saw this post, I started rereading the 007 novels from the beginnig this last week. I remember seeing those The Spy Who Loved Me when I was a kid and that was just so cool. Before reading the novels about ten years ago, I just could not stand most of the films from the seventies on. Now, I actually LIKE Moonraker etc... Moore was just rotten, and I detested Pierce Brosnan. I gave Timothy Dalton a pass because he was Prince Barin. Honestly, I don't know why only one film with George Lazenby was made, but that is one of the best, hands down.
Hell, I think I have Live and Let Die to blame/thank for my intense lust for Jane Seymour...either that or Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.
Anyhow, I digress...I hope to see a model with his shoe off and talking into it. Get Smart made me laugh in reruns as a kid. It would also be nice to see a Patrick McNee and Diana Rigg set.

I understand the reason George Lazenby only made one Bond film was he turned down the chance to play the character again thinking it would damage his career (Up until this film he was a model, having done a Marlborough cigarette ad I think) Not the best decision to make.
The producers then went back to Connery and lured him back with more money.
-
I understand the reason George Lazenby only made one Bond film ...
... and that was because of Diana Rigg! :D
-
This range has got me very excited, but at the same time a bit pipped at the post
Though not having to do the planned 'Geezers Royale' range will leave me the funds to concentrate on more cops and robbers and the 1970's horror range.
Artizan figures are top drawer and I for one will be throwing my money at them.
I can't wait to see preview pics since I won't be at Salute.
I wonder if they'll do the Avengers?
-

While it is always cool with new ranges I personally see no immediate use for these miniatures. If I was to give up on the 1900-1940 ranges I am currently keeping myself to and expand into a new Lead Adventure areas with some purpose, it would rather be to Future Zombie Outbreak (just because Hasslefrees are so darn paintable) or VSF just because... well, you know.
-

Seconded. I'm sure the new range will be a blast but I have lots of themes to do I really prefer at the moment.
-
My brain says no, but once I see the preview pics I 'll turn into a dribbling obsessed imbecile who won't sleep until I've got my grubby mits on them! :D

Grimm & twrchtrwyth
Thanks for the appreciation on the Rig. Darren at Black Knight did a truly outstanding job on this for me. It took over a year I think, but is pretty modular as all the buildings on the main platform are free standing.
I think the new Kiss Kiss Bang Bang range will give lots more opportunity for play.
-
what is ``Black Knight`` ?
Grimm
-
Grimm - Sorry that's Black Knight Studios. It's a one man operation but Darren builds some great terrain - there are a few more examples here:

No website I'm afraid, but if you are interested send me a PM and I'll send his email address.

I've seen (and bought) the preview pack today at Salute. They're great! However, I handed them over to my painting friend at the event today, so still no pics to post for you yet I'm afraid. :(
-
Damn! Why was I not at Salute?
Why didn't I take my private jet to JFK, then take the Concorde (put back into service for me alone) to London, smoking hand rolled cigarettes from Vafiades of Cairo and drinking vodka martinis all the way? :(

Posted a couple of quick pics of the new figures here:

I got to see these today - I'd already blown all my cash on Black Cat Bases and Black Scorpion models so I had nothing left to spend on these. Wonderful stuff though - the pics don't do them proper justice.
-
How cool! They did The Avengers too!
-
Who's the black private dick
That's a sex machine to all the chicks?
SHAFT!
Ya damn right!
I wonder if he will make an appearance at some point?
It's strange but I started off by thinking what a useless idea and I have reached the stage where I'm thinking of scenarios.... :?

Quite. I'm obviously some kind of lead slut... swear my undying love for one period, but as soon as something pretty in another comes along my affections are transferred lol
I can see the stares and hear the whispers already;
"He had a dark ages collection you know, they were really happy together for years. All that time he never laid a paintbrush on them, then all of a sudden he was running around with all sorts of 28mm figures. I even heard he was playing around with pulp. Its his Romano-British I feel sorry for".
