Lovely use of the Richard Lionheart SALUTE figure! I made mine into a passable Aragorn a while back but yours is an excellent Eddard Stark. I love the fur cloaks. Your Clegane figures have inspired me to resvisit the Bretonnians I have in my bits box.
I also like the 'holdfast' in the background too 8)
-
I like your Wolf shields, simple & effective.
-
Thank you !
I like your Wolf shields, simple & effective.
They are re-painted Space Wolves decals... :D
-
I too like the shield devices - but I like the autumnal treatment of the bases more - a nice idea. I'm using patches of brown flock to simulate autumn leaves, but I like your heather/mosses/lichen...
-
Thanks, I didn't think they were hand painted, just like the idea and the finish. It also gives me an idea for a Warlord using my Richard figure from Salute IIRC.
Thank you !They are re-painted Space Wolves decals... :D
-
That's what I love about Westeros as a 'period'. It gives you the freedom to be really creative. It's surprising what you can come up with using a bit of lateral thinking!
-
Pretty cool, who makes the miniatures?
-
My pleasure is to use historic figures to represent fantasy characters...I don't like so much real fantasy minis. I prefer realistic figures, in a fantasy theme.
-
Pretty cool, who makes the miniatures?
Ned is the Salute figure (2002, I think...) by Copplestone.
The Stark are all modified Front Rank.
The Clegane are a modified GW Bretonnian knight, for Gregor; and Sandor is a Front rank modified knight (green stuff for the burned face...).
Thank you everybody ! ;)
-
I'm with you Craig2 - History is the new fantasy. I shall have to look at the Front Rank medievals with a more critical eye. There's some nice figures in the range I can see added to my own Westerosi bannermen.
-
The Clegane are a modified GW Bretonnian knight, for Gregor
I noticed that. I've thought the same for Gregor - the GW's stuff certainly outscale enough. lol
Everything looks great. :) Nice job on all that white, and the little touchups give the Space Wolf decals a fresh look.
-
Thank you ! ;)
-
That little watchtower looks great! Good work on the figures too :)
-
Loving it! It's motivational to see your painted models.
Now if I could only find some hobby time to get some paint on mine...
-
Amen to that D G!
-
Really great work! Those miniatures have a lot of character. Love them!
-
All very nice indeed, very creative.
-
Many thanks, guys !
-
Very nice.
Are the cloaks from plastic figures? If so which ones?

-
Looking good :)
Watch out for those Greyjoys! ;)
-
Thanks Captain ! I'm working on the Lannister for the moment, but I will make the Greyjoy too...(with Viking figures, I think...)
-
w00t! Really like Rob and Ghost. Gotta get my tail in gear and throw down something from my project. Work (and masters' thesis) have been sucking the oxygen out of my hobby time.
I have lined up my source for shield transfers using the art shared previously. And I'm waiting for those Fireforge kits to be released for bodies and cloaks.
Looking to get back at it this weekend though...
-
w00t! Really like Rob and Ghost.
Jon Snow and Ghost... :D
Thanks.

Jon Snow and Ghost... :D
Thanks.
Uh, typo? o_o I just lost all my ASIoF cred there... :'(
-
Wow, those look great! Good job!
-
Thank you.
-
I've never read the books - but being a fantasy nut, I've watched the two seasons of the show thus far, and been interested enough to probably pick up the books. It does make excellent gaming potential. Love seeing threads like this! :D
-
Thank you. The books are better than the show (which is not so bad...). I always been a fan of that novel, and this project born in my head few years ago...
-
I've known of the novels since a kid, but I don't like to start something unless I'm going to finish - and honestly that's a LOT of reading, so I keep putting it off. I'll eventually get around to it.
-
Thank you. The books are better than the show (which is not so bad...)
My feeling exactly.
The TV show is quite enjoyable if you take it at face value.
The books are infinitely richer and better though.

Here is a mercenary bowmen company, perhaps "the Goat" one...

very nicely done - I am envious that you have completed units. Mine are all part done as yet with more in the pipeline to build. Do you plan to do a unit of 'sparrows' as well as the sellswords?
-
Thank you. I don't understand what "sparrows" means... :D I read the novel in French; could you explain me, please ?
I will start my Lannister billmen today.
-
Well, I found what "Sparrows" are...I love that idea, maybe an other unit soon (basing on GW flagellants and fanatics...) ;)
-
Led by a warrior monk (Bretonnian?) or knight with a kite shield!

Led by a warrior monk (Bretonnian?) or knight with a kite shield!
A templar knight, with the red star on the shield, of course... ;)

I don't know about you but I'm finding the whole finding/converting proxy figures extremely rewarding... :)

It's one of my favorite works, with painting ! (gaming come after...)
Thank you, guys.

Hi,
I’ve decided to join the Game of Thrones circus and get myself some figures.
I quite like the Front Rank HYW and WotR figures as a starting point for conversion – I have had them in past for historical projects and find them good consistant castings.
I planning 4 ‘factions’ - two for each ‘side’ (of around 24 figures each) but as for what I don’t know yet.
I quite fancy Beric Dondarrion’s ‘Brotherhood Without Banners’ (it saves painting banners, I thought) and Vargo Hoat’s ‘Bloody Mummers’ (I reckon the Goat would look good on his Zorse). although The Hound (or Bronn) and his sellswords have an appeal
The other to factions will be more conventional, though I have toyed with the idea of converting Artizan Black Guard into the Unsullied........
-
Welcome to the party, Silent Bob.
Creating two, unconventional forces that were right in the thick of the fighting is a great idea. Plus, each of the give you plenty of creative scope to assemble a cool array of miniatures.
Looking forward to what you come up with!
-
I used Warlord Numidians for my Unsullied and greenstuffed quilted tunics on all of them ;D (What can I say, it seemed like a good idea at the time!)
-
My Vargo band is WIP...great idea Silent Bob ! ;)
-
I've ordered the figures for the first of my factions.
Anyone got any ideas for goat horns?

;)
Doh, all sold out at the moment.....still there's plenty of time.
-
Wot, already? Or did I misread it first time...?
Anyway, there are other warhammer bits sellers online and other of GW's ranges to look at (particularly horned skaven bits). Although given that link and my own recent experience, it could be a struggle to find anyone with much in stock.

I painted three Direwolves :
Nymeria :

Ghost next to my Mance Rayder :

The Hound attacking Nymeria on the royal road :

I based my work on the novels and some old illustrations that show them bigger than the televison serie

I always find strange that their mother was definitly bigger than her sons, in the serie... :suspect:

-
I like your direwolfs, alltough they're quite big in my eyes..
I have my own GoT project at the fantasy board here, don't have the wolfs yet, but I'm looking for the models atm.
Your models are great, but a bit big IMO..
Great project tough, and what a terrain! ;)
-
Thank you.
-
looking good
-
Thanks !
-
The Wolves are a little bigger than I saw them in my mind's eye but seem to fit with the description in the novels. In any case, lovely models. :)
-
Thank you.
As an extrem fan of the novels, I prefer them like this. Real fantasy monsters, not the pretty dogs of the serie... :? (I like the serie, but I think it was less expensive to use real wolves than make digital ones...But the result is that they are not so impressive, I think...On the contrary the digital dragons are very fearsome...)

Here are my free people warriors :
Tormund Giantsbane and his wild warriors :

Jeor Mormont and his patrolmen falled on a strong force of free men, but there is no doubt that they'll win :

Weapons are from Saga's Skraelings.
Figures mostly, are from Gripping beast Jomsvikings and Foundry Vikings (with few Musketeer).

Nice looking Wildlings! I especially like Mance Rayder, he looks like how I'd pictured him!
I haven't done any people from behind the Wall yet, but I hope to get a Craster soon!
-

Thank you ! I want a Mance younger and stronger than the TV one...Even if I'm a fan of Romme and Julius Caesar too ! :D

I hate Craster, but I need him too, indeed...To make him die in horrible pain, of course ! lol

Beautiful painted both!
Some little critics, Ser Payne is in my opinion too good looking. He's seems to be an ugly guy. Some spots could make him easily looking worse.. :p
And I think Samwel looks a bit too old, but that might be just me, I pictured him as being 12/13 but I now I'm thinking nowhere is mentioned his age...
But don't get me wrong, I really like your work, and you're doing a great job!! :)
-
About Ser Ilyn Payne, my first inspiration was this draw :
(http://i56.servimg.com/u/f56/10/07/88/81/250px-10.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=2429&u=10078881)
He is a knight with rich clothes but dirty clothes (I tried to paint this...). Will think about some spots, maybe ! :D
-
Great job, I think that mordheim model fits the bill nicely. I always imagined him as a bit more skinny, but thats a minor detail.
I agree his face is too fair - the book makes sure to mention often his 'pock marked face' so perhaps a few reddish or brownish scars or blemishes would work well. I would suggest mixing your skin tones with a bit of red and/or brown, watering it down fairly significantly, then lightly dabbing on a few blemishes.

I love these skirmish based minis. Im basing mine with impetus 120mm units in mind.... Probably never actually game them anyway I just like blocks of figs.
Love your wildlings. My AsoIaF stuff is all plastics however There's not really any plastics I know of that are going to be suitable.... Nothing savage enough.

Thanks, I will follow my project with another wildlings (some Yetis to make Ogres...). And other figures, of course.
