Ooh nice tractor unit Anpu! Good pj too.
-
Very nice the tractor!!!
-
excellent :o i have one of those Fenris APCs too, very under rated Model me thinks.Kudos to the Freehand "W" ;)
-
That's APC is a cracker!
-
So pleased I got Ian to release this. Awesome fenris marauder. :-*
-
Ditto on the Marauder... I like your paint job a lot.
It's good to see the Mawes and Lesser Mawes getting an outing too :)
The Hurn is suitably dark and menacing as well :)
-
Loving the Marauder.
Damn, now I want one... lol
-
Your tractor is awesome...where did you get it? Your paint job is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Hitman

Brilliant take on the Fenris Marauder!
-
Smasinhg jobs.
If that WY symbol is freehand then :o and 8)
-
Nice theme and nice paintjobs :)
-
Do Fenris still sell the marauder? I can't see it on their site, even with a search. It looks like a cracking model.
-
Have you tried the E-Bay store? There is generally a wider selection of stuff on there.
-
They seem to be gone from both stores, perhaps the mold needs to be remade.
-
Yes, I checked both stores too. Gone :-[
-
Drop Ian (Geronimo) a PM or email and I am sure he can help you out.
-
Great AFV with a perfect choice of colour for the basic paintjob. I will try to merge as many of your ideas for the thing and AVP into an own project, gratefully appreciated though!
-
Just to say, spoke with his nib's. Ian's busy with prep for Salute.
Mould needs redoing but not much time at present to do it.
@Anpu: what yellow did you use? Have sone hab units to paint and the colour is perfect.
-
Excellent. I'll be watching this! :-*

Primed in grey, a base coat of Jokaero orange layer with averland sunset and highlight with yriel yellow. Liberal wash with Seraphim sepia diluted with water, agrax earthshade diluted with water. Then after drying dusting it with MIG industrial city dirt pigment, then stipling the same mixed with water onto the dirty areas.

Yup, this, pretty much. I do have a handful of miscast versions going cheap if anyone's desperate.
Have been thinking about the Marauder kit for a while as it awaits remoulding; will probably re-release it sans turret and have that as an optional extra version. I think there's a real shortage of nice non-military vehicles around, and I need to do something about that... 8)

Indeed and there is a distinct gap in the market of Snowcats too ;)

Yes you do some nice near future technicals private and commercial vehicles would be awesome for so many projects
Can you put me down for another two Ian (as long as their your usual standard of miscast, that some people would sell as grade one ;) ) paypal me and I'll grab them at salute? ;).
-
Have you tried the E-Bay store? There is generally a wider selection of stuff on there.
Oooh, not for a long time :o eBay store has around 270 products, Fenris webshop has double that number of goodies. The eBay shop's gradually reducing in size and all new releases have been webshop only for the last year or so.
Can you put me down for another two Ian (as long as their your usual standard of miscast, that some people would sell as grade one Wink ) paypal me and I'll grab them at salute?
Will do, do you want them with/without turrets?
-
Yes, more non-military vehicles would be excellent.
-
Will do, do you want them with/without turrets?
Sans merci! ;)
-
And some Aliens, not all but almost. I have a few more Horrorclix ones and around 10-15 of the old leading edge ones as well.
Next up the APC (Hopefully)
-
Is that all your aliens? Shame... ;D
Really getting into those cleat bases I have to say. I'm a big resin base fan so it's quite different for me to like them so much.
-
Is that all your aliens? Shame...
Not quite all but almost, not all of us had the opportunity to hoard them either. I have 27 horrorclix ones and a queen. Plus the leading edge ones.
I am aiming for a skirmish type game not the 300+horde of Steders or Akula. ;)
Motion tracker blips will help to fill out the rest since my budget does not allow paying 40-90 $ for 7 of them. ;)

Would have to agree with you on that, a skirmish game would be much more achievable and more fun. I've got 3 sets of the Leading Edge miniatures, I've also got some Chapter House Studio Alien type heads and a load of Genestealer bodies. Nice work Anpu.
-
Yeah I know only messing. Motion tracker blips worked well in space hulk and LOS will help with numbers too.
Can't believe the prices of those aliens these days. cheapest price I paid was Ģ3 a box at one of those bankrupt stock shops, most Ģ30 for a box. Seeing the prices now, bloody ridiculous.
I've around 90 plus queen and I will get my project back on the round soon so im not just another hoarder like certain other people. ::)
-

I have only 15 plus queen and 18 eggs, but all are based and painted and ready for gaming...
-
I have lots of eggs (unpainted) and some scratchbuilt facehuggers (painted) which I forgot to take pictures of.
-
Some new pictures, first the WIP Uplink tower/satelite dish.

A second smaller but dirtier tractor.

Love the uplink
-
Very cool! I love the dish and the tracked vehicle looks very nice as a utility vehicle!
-
Yup liking that. :D
-
Great stuff all around!
-
Everything over here is so great!
-
That second tractor is very cool -- it's a Void model, isn't it?
-
Yes that is an old Void APC I removed the gatling and replaced it with a plate.
-
Very nice additions :-*
-
Beautiful stuff, especialy the satellite tower.

Nice those. Nice use of leds too.
-
That is fantastic work, very inspiring. keep it going! :)
-
Very nice.
Does the LED work? I've always wanted to do scenery with blinkenlights, never gotten around to it!
-
Amazing stuff!
-
Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yes it works, it was part of the packaging of a computer mouse I bought ages ago. When hooked up to the battery pack it gives of a steady blinking light.
I have wanted to do things with led lights for ages as well. With this project I think I must get out the soldering iron for the first time since school. I have one more ready batterypack with a string of lights that will be use for the main building.
edit:spelling
-
Wonderful stuff! Using lights has been on to-do-list for me as well for sometime but never really got to it. Ebay is full of different led kits etc, I have ordered few and bought from electrical gadget stores few kits that would need soldering, eg. a circle of yellow blinking leds for a landing pad. Maybe one day... :?
Will keenly follow your progress with this.
-
Lovely stuff. I have that apc, I was thinking of using it as an Imperial guard command vehicle but I like the civilian look.
-
Yeah leds are nice touches. I know how good it felt to include them in my halo stuff. I've a couple of links that may interest you so shoot me a pm when you get chance.
-
Cool looking terrain, love the solid, industrial brooding look.
Perfect for Hadleys Hope.
Will keep checking for more updates on this.
-
Thanks for the feedback!
@Ranger: It won't be Hadley's hope I think but some similar colony subjected to foul play by Weyland-Yutani...
Here are WIP pics of the operations center.

I second that. Incredibly good!
-
What is the black base of the ops center? Milk crate?
-
The black frame objects are packing material from IKEA from their pictureframe department that I got for free.
There are several kinds. The one used for the ops I just glued card in the gaps and glued four of them together into a building shape. The one on the left in the picture ( also used in the vehicle bay) is a larger one where I cut out the small middle section to get a industrial crossbeam look.

Good find. I thought it were pieces from a foldable crate at first.

This thread makes me happy! Keep up the great work, Anpu!

Thank you! Now I need to finish of the ops module. I will try to keep it modular, but it is a kind of table edge building I think.
-
Great thread - really looking forward to seeing the finished setup!
-
Fantastic work, Anpu! :-* :-*

Thanks once again for the comments
Ops almost finished, just interior detailing to finish. Then on to painting...

Is there any chance of a larger pics of the office tables and perhaps a small briefing on how you did them?

Will try to get a larger pic taken.
They are made from Foamwerks L-clips for holding together foamboard while gluing. I just glued strips of cardboard for the tabletop an on the ones with glass plastic blister material from diverse sources. If you want some L-clips I could post you a blister (8 pieces) at postage cost as I have quite a few lying around
-
The vehicles looks fantastic, and those sets are going to be wonderful with a spot of paint. What did you use for the Colonial Marines APC?
-
Lovely stuff!
By the looks of it, are you planning to let them critters in through the air ducts..? :D
-

It is a 1/48 scale model I bought from frontier models, a very poor kit for the price. This one is much better according to Dwartist http://www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm/product/2603/aliens-apc-28mm-scale.cfm (http://www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm/product/2603/aliens-apc-28mm-scale.cfm) costs a bit more but looks great. That or go with Khurasan miniatures just released Caiman. I will be getting a Polecat or two for the project.Lovely stuff!

Or it will give the marines a way out... ;)

Yes please that would be nice. PM me on how you want your payment.

Lovely stuff... it's a great shame there's no alien figures freely available. I reckon they're be more popular than the game they released a couple of months ago...
-
Yes this is all great. Have you finished the op's yet?
What rules will you use?
-
Thanks once more for the comments.
Ops is almost finished.
I have not really come to the rules yet, I am thinking perhaps sharing the homebrew rules I am working on for my the Thing project in a simplified version.
Here are a few pics from the project. I have finished the interior except for minor detailing and detail painting.

So now how, hard are those papercraft to build? I have been eyeing them for a while.

Thanks! Sorry for the slow progress, I have been on vacation and also working on my fallout project for Gubbspel Galore IV in Gothenburg in august. ;)
The papercraft is not all that complicated, just a bit fiddly and time consuming, I think the dropship took 4-7 evenings to build after I put our daughter to bed. I missed to do the edging (graying the edges with a gray pen) while building the dropship so there are a few white edges showing. Heavy grade paper/cardstock of around 200-300 gsm is needed for best result. Heavier paper makes the building easier.
-
Looking good so far. :-*
-
Looking great mate

Love the building. Especially the windows and desks. Good work.
Are both of the paper craft ships from Ebbles? I have the dropship but would love to have the shuttle as well.

Thanks for updating this. It really looks great!
Where did you get the facehuggers, med beds and cryopods?
The med beds are from Grekwood miniature, the cryopods are from antenociti's and the facehuggersr are scratchbuilt.
Two variants of making the facehuggers, one is glueing two hands from a plastic figure, zombie or ghoul works best than grenstuffing the rest of the body and tail or if on hand use a skaven tail for the tail. the other variant is made with a small armature of thin wire for the creature then cover with greenstuff. I cannot seem to find the original thread for the tutorial, I think it was on frothers. I have it printed somewhere here at home though.

Great looking project must find time to get some photos of my aliens project online :-) as too rules I've been using a modded version of akulas rules and its worked a charm.

Thanks!
The eggs are the ones from the horrorclix queen, I made a mold and cast some extras from plaster.
-
Good!
I too had thought of using those (as I have one queen and another on its way from ebay to me). Glad to see it works before I start unplucking them. :D
-
Nice as ever. Those eggs are well worth it. I had a mate cast up about 100 of them for me, well one per adult alien I have I figured... ;)

Glad too see someone else has gone the route of clear bases (though I used 40mm ones for my aliens) all supplied by the awesome Fenris games.
It looks some much better esp as it allows for a complete mix of terrain types :-)

Ops is expanding. I guess I have been spurred on by seeing first and foremost Braz's renewed thread, and all the other great ALIENS threads on this forum, but also the AVP kickstarter.

I have clad the interiors in printed textures to get a more realistic look than flat grey.
-
I like. :-* Progressing nicely. Funny as yours and others threads spur me on. :D
What is that area between the two back rooms as I couldn't tell from the pics if it was accessible? Also what have to planned for the area where the two doors lead into mid-air? Curious.
-
That shows the advantage of the forum as we draw inspiration from each other.
The area between the back room has a small airduct hatch by the floor. Inside the tiny space the far wall also has a hatch. I was thinking about using it as an exit for the humans or entry point for the Aliens.
The two doors that leads into mid air is supposed to either to an outside platform or just leading into the next module of a larger building.
-
That AVP kickstarter is gonna be a perfect fit with this project, very nicely done.
-
:o great stuff.

Finally. I was missing your project and looking for an update. Great job on OPS Center. ;D

Looking great - very atmospheric
:)

Thanks everyone!
@AKULA It's lacking a processor though...

Needs more furniture ;)
The bright green part will be divided into a medlab and some conference space or similar, with a corridor dividing them.
Underneath there will be a small garage for vehicles and some smaller rooms.
-
I was going to say the green area would make a great dance floor and that lone piece of furniture sure looks like a bar :P lol The workers need somewhere to relax after killing aliens all day.
Great progress!
-
That looks simply amazing. This project is coming along fantastically.
Braz, not everyone is as concerned with the colonist's downtime as you are. :) I mean, who else has a built casino for their Aliens project? lol

Thanks but I am afraid it is against company policy to have a disco dance floor in Ops... ;)

After that it is outside detailing and removable roof sections.

Thanks for all the comments.
Very nice indeed! I like the paintjob.
Not a paintjob I am afraid, just printed textures glued to the structure.
Great stuff. Love the window frames! What are they made from?
The window frames are from the front part of a filter from my cats' drinking fountain, I slowly get new ones at a pace of about one/month.

-
What a great setup. It's nice to see an interior so well-done!
-
Ah, interior textures. Looking on my phone screen it looked like you had done an amazing job with a single colour and black lining! You have still done an amazing job with the build, it's marvelous.
-
Hot damn, that is spectacular!!! I am jealous as can be.
Bravo...
-
Some of those pictures look like it's a real full scale set. The only caveat is the white on the inside of the openings could do with covering over but it's really inspirational.

;D damn that's nice, i so want to use it with my aliens!

Thanks for all the great feedback!

Yes I completely forgot to do the edging before I glued the textures. If I do it now the ink will bleed into the textures ruining them I am afraid. Perhaps I can fix it with som regular grey paint, but most likely not as neat as if done with inkpens.
-
Looking great, Anders! :-*
Galore V?

I've got Em4 marines and Denizen marines so I expect the Prodos xenos to be a good bit bigger though better than the Heroclix ones hopefully. It's nice to see them though.

Great effect on the Xenomorphs. How did you achieve that metallic look?

Panted black, then drybrushed or highlighted in metals depending on size, 3-5 layers of black ink, brown ink and blueink depending on which shade you want and then finish of with another layer of black ink or two. Then a layer of gloss varnish.

That definitely came out better than I thought it would. Makes me almost wish I'd gotten one. I can't wait to see it painted.
Just out of curiosity, how big is the cargo bay. I've got one of the Khurasan Miniatures Caimen APC's and I wonder if it would fit.

Interesting! Could you take a photo with a ruler next to it? Would love to see how it compares to the 1/72 ones I've got...better still, just send the model to me, and I'll take a comparison photo ;)

The Caiman is way too big. Even the 1/48 scaled APC i bought for the project is slightly to large.

I will try to get a ruler picture later, I am in the middle of moving from an apartment to a house (Yay! gamng/hobbyroom!) Dimensions from the Prodos site: Length - 41cm (16.41") Width with unfolded weapon wings: 25.5cm (10.03") Height with unfolded weapon wings: : 16cm (6.3").

Need to do some markings an weathering.
-
Was it a bitch to build? Do you reckon it's worth the price tag?
-
Not too hard to build rather nice kit I think. For me it was definately worth the money.
-
Also haven't been following, and I usually am a sucker for anything 'Aliens.'
I will say, handsome as it is, one look at how Ferro and Spunkmeyer filled the cockpit, and no way a proper APC could be carried.
Real scale falls to game/table scale, I guess. Hardly the first time, no? :D
Doug
-
None of the APC models I have fits but it is close for the smaller one. Still a nice model and still a hefty size and a prescence on the table, but correctly scaled no.
-

Doug I have that one too. I admit that the proportions are a bit off, but it still resembles the prototype well enough to recognize the iconic dropsip and it is still HUGE. The Neca APC is not too wide to fit into the loading bay, just a few millimetres too long. However this would not be noticeable when it is positioned on the extracted ramp (and you wouldnīt spoil a model by putting it inside a closed loading bay just to know it is inside, would you? ;) )
I got the hint from LAF member Sgt. Scream that there is a ride for my Marines:

The model is from Neca and goes quite well with the AvP miniatures by Prodos scale-wise. Wheels and guns can be moved on the model. The prototypeīs wheels were said to be 159cm diameter. Look at the Marine who seems to be a rather tall bloke then. The overall impression suits my taste though.
I have not finished my dropship yet, therefore I can not yet show pictures with the APC on the ramp, but I will as soon as it will be built. In my opinion the price is too steep, but apart from scratchbuilding there is no real alternative if you want that model on your table.
