Title: My English Civil War Adventure.
Post by: B.E.A.R on March 25, 2013, 12:56:58 AM
So myself and a friend are getting into the English Civil War, I have had a Convertors army for years, but we are looking at Wales in 1642. I will be taking charge of the Royalist army as Sir Iwan Llywelyn 1st Baronet of Penmaenmawr KG and my friend will take command of the Parliamentarians as the fire and brimstone preacher turned general James Fletcher. We will be using the Tinker Fox campaign outline with either Pike and Shot or Warhammer ECW. I need some advice on painting each force for 1642. I will post pictures here or I might even start a blog.

So I got my first Renegade pike men today. can anyone say how these look with Redoubt's. I just go by the one foot rule plus not every man is the same height.

Redoubt are also at the tall end of the ECW 28mm size range, although not quite as chunky as the Renegade figures. Renegade and Bicorne provide the ideal mix and offer a vast range of different figures between the two of them - but all by the same sculptor, Nick Collier. But you could use Redoubt alongside Renegade, and it would look fine. It's more a matter of stylistic differences in the posing and anatomy rather than size.

I can only echo what Blood has said, my old covenanter army was Redoubt and Rengade with a few bicorne added in. TO me I much prefer those figures. One tip with redoubt is to try and source the heads form other ranges or be very selective and buy extra packs as they have a tendancy to lok like they ahve been over pressed in the molds. not all but some

@ Blood thanks.
@ lowtardog I am fond of bother manufacturers myself. I have a few of Redoubt's Wellington in India range and they are wonderful in my opinion.
