Title: 15 mm windows and doors!
Post by: FifteensAway on March 26, 2013, 04:20:49 AM
Well color me a variety of shades of happy!  I just found Irregular Miniatures range of Architecturals!  Here is the link:

http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/indexes/15mmindex.htm (http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/indexes/15mmindex.htm)

Man, I've been looking for this stuff for a long time (only one else making it once upon a time was Hallmark that I know of - though if you know of others, oh, yeah, do I want to know!

Okay, so that range isn't expansive but those are going to save me hundreds of hours of time in building my wild west town.   :-*

Well, shazNabbit!  That link doesn't take you to the right place but if you scroll down the menu to near the bottom and then click on Architecturals you'll see what I'm on about.  But in my defense, I was severely distracted by having seen the winner of the Build Something contest - a pool in the forest with some skin dippers (sic).

Nice find. I assume these are flat and you just glue them in place?
I generally use Grandt Line or Tichy Train Group model railroad parts. There is a huge selection and I happen to have a well equipped model train shop nearby. They also come in various scales  so HO works for 15s and there I O scale for 28s.  They do however need to be 'set-in' by cutting out a section of the wall. Also they need backing to simulate dark interior or curtains. Regards, Rob.

From the way they are described it certainly seems they are flat.  I plan to buy a bunch of them, probably into the hundreds, to use for my wild west town and perhaps for my Boxer Rebellion (though that will require some investigation).  Love that these are out there.

Seems my nice find might not be so nice afterall -- for me.  Maybe for you.  I studied the photos on Irregular's site a little closer and wandered so I checked their 20 mm page and found exactly the same items.  So probably too big for what I want, more's the pity, but workable for larger scales if you build your structures a little undersized.  Oh, well, back to my personal drawing board for windows and doors.
