Looking good so far, even though the picture is really tiny.
How large will this unit of foot knights be exactly? And will you be using all old metal minis? If so, that'll be a sight to behold indeed! 8)
I'll check in after Easter to see the progress... ;-)
Off the top of my head, I think it's 15 figures.
Liking them so far PP and loving the sound of that gladiatrix!! :)
Nice work. :)
Is that about average for any unit? What about units in an army? I'm seeing bits and pieces of 'oldhammer' leaking onto a few forums, and it's tempting. But I think I'd be more tempted if 3rd ed skewed towards warbands - or at least fewer minis than the current trends of hordes and 40K apocalypse, etc.
Nice work. :)

I wanted this to be small, more like a warband rather than a proper unit. We were thinking along the same lines, of having smaller forces rather than a massive army.
Then GW's prices went up and WD started to show smaller armies (some as low as 500 points) and units of say 10 foot or 5 cavalry being used.
On-topic: another thing that attracts me to oldhammer is all the oldschool minis on display. That's a nice spread of metal, PP! :-*

Yeah, I was browsing Foundry's ex-Citadel stuff this morning. ::) I really must resist putting in that order.
You've got yourself some Cool Old Guys there...the Talisman Priest is an old friend; AND you're doing a FINE job giving them a new lease on life...the green, red, & white knight is my favorite of the three. Keep up the GREAT WORK!
Hello Princess, I can not wait to see these guys painted up, I love these old metal Citadel/Foundry knights. I have been itching to buy some for years now. I really like your painting style and know you are going to bring these guys to life (especially that Talisman cleric). I'll be watching this thread closely.
Cheers,
Damien
I have the unfortunate tendency to get all excited about "almost finishing my knights!!" and then being reminded that they also have shields ...
Coming along nicely. Middle one is my favourite. For the blue guy you could add a bit of depth to the gold crest with a brown ink wash.
Loving the hand-painted shields.
The Good Knights are coming along VERY NICELY! The shields in particular have a lot of potential. Keep up the FINE WORK!
Love them! They all turned out really well, I really like the bases, the like the colours you chose and love the hand painted shields. I have to agree with Mr.Stone-cold though, a little brown shading on the helm will do wonders for the blue knight.
Keep 'em coming,
Damien
Lovely work there Princess :-* Looking forward to seeing them all ranked up with some scenery :)
I love these old school knights! Fantastic paint job on this guy :-* Now I hope this is not getting old but a small shading black wash would differentiate his helmet from his mail and give his armour more depth BUT it really depends on you and how you like your armour to look.
Either way, this is one of my favourite threads,
Damien
I dropped the mini on my tiled floor when I was painting the scabbard :'( I became preoccupied with repainting his slightly flattened helmet and I forgot to do anything else! o_o
That is why I paint on carpet, until you drop paint on it .... ::) you can never win; either way, loving the knights. Btw will you be painting a mounted knight?
Damien
but I do have a little something interesting coming soon and he will be mounted ;)Waiting with baited breath :D
:-* wow that blue and off white is fantastic! A beauty of a Colour scheme! I might pinch that for a questing knight. ;)
Thy're coming along nicely, looking good.
The latest Man of Iron is possibly the best yet. I love how you managed to get his eye painted; & your color choices are EXCELLENT. GREAT WORK!
I do like them! They are really looking good, loving the group shot. The unit champion is the best of the bunch (in my opinion), I really like the armour (shaded very well) the helmet crest (a very nice tan colour, give me your recipe please), the red shading is great and the face is fantastic.
Don't give up on this great project, I want to see massed ranks of knights,
Damien
He's a beauty!
But... :o you changed the fab blue and off white to black/yellow! :'(
To each his own. I'm loving these older figs, I think they are full of character!
Cheers
Matt
Thanks Matt :) haha I thought you were talking about the guy with the eagle on his head (who I did use blue and Bleached Bone - or off-white, I guess - on). That B&Y knight was always black and yellow. Must be the camera I used to take the photo of him the first time :? BUT at least now I paint make another one in blue and off-white to make up for it ;)
Wow, must be a combo of my iPhone screen and the image. Cause looking at it now it is black and yellow! :o lol haha. Very nice though anyway. ;)
All of them look lovely! Really enjoyable ones :).

I did that one for my erstwhile friend Buddy. For his Evil Cleric I had to modify the hand, making him more of a Knight Templar of the Finger.
I've got a long weekend coming up, so I'm hoping to finish off another couple of figures. I started one over the weekend while at Leviathan, so pics of him will be up shortly!
Are you saying what I think you're saying? ;D
Do you have any pics of this conversion? Would love to see!
I like him a lot! You are d :)oing great PP - keep 'em coming.
I think I know the one you mean - looking forward to see him finished.
I would imagine we're on the same page..I'd turn to another one if I were you. The popular phrase for the repositioned hand is "flipping the bird".
Sorry, but I did that mini when it was a shiny new piece long before digital cameras. Buddy & the the mini have also disappeared more years ago than I'd like to think about.
I have some old Chaos chappies and some Broos(read beastmen) who haven't had a bash in years, maybe when I'm next in Sydney...Probably the year 2020 lol
I agree, the livery looks pretty nice and gives a great overall sense. Great work! :)
Lovely!! :-* :-* Very nice colours!!
