I could certainly use these too.

May be worth waiting a while though, mate, as there should be several options very soon.
 ;)

I wonder if we will see some dedicated Victorian buildings fron other mdf manufacturers? I know Warbases already have some 'generic' buildings and some VBVW builfings, but this looks like a more EotD influenced range. I still like the look of Mr Bibbly's buildings though.

Looking really good. Just got Fenris Games' Arkham Avenue house and looking forward to building that up...Ian is releasing more in the range so will probably go for that sort of separate building. Having said that Sarissan do so much good stuff I will pick some of theirs up as well....all I need now is for 4 children to grow up and leave the roost so I can have some space to expand the hobby area from the bedroom  ;)

That I've seen so far for Salute:

Bibbly's Buildings (although they're lasercut acrylic I believe, definately not MDF)
Sarissa Precision
4Ground
Wolsung (fantasy variant but should have usable bits) should have some stuff on display at least.
Warbases terrace buildings.

Anyone else?

I didn't know about 4Grounds. I have quite a few (5) of warbases' buildings but I'm using them as a base.

Looks excellent. The main thing that makes me hesitate about these lasercut type buildings is that the brickwork is far too regular and smooth. I do wonder if perhaps it wouldn't be possible to roughen it up a bit and improve the look so it's less perfect and more weathered.

It reminds me of years back when recording music via pc and keyboard - the human element was lost as it was all so 'perfect' - there was a gizmo you could use that added an element of error in that helped.

I think I'll give (physicially) weathering it a try, to break up the smoothness and the perfect lines.

Looking forward to seeing someone try first, as I dont like that look either.
Reminds me of a childrens TV programme with those colours and everything so 'perfect'.

May not be worth all the bother.
Which would mean: Back to the carved foam again..... o_o

As well as using paint for weathering you could try a dremel with a fine tip to better define the bricks.

I don't imagine they will be especially cheap so if you have to do a lot to them to achieve the look you want, it might be better to make your own.

You could always give mine a go  :)

Better brick definition and smaller with the right sort of coursework.

The starting prices of the range will be on my website this weekend  :)

Oooh yes, I can vouch for the quality and I'm a fussy b**tard when it comes to Victorian buildings.

These mdf bits are getting better but are not exactly cheap for what they are and are no comparison to "real" resin or scratchbuilds.  I feel the biggest downfall is them being designed to the limitations of the medium and they suffer from being panels of 2D.

If time is took to "design" a proper build, like Geronimo at Fenris has done with the Arkham House or James with his Oshiro victorian buildings, they are superb but these mdf offerings are not proper kits on that level at all.

None of the MDF building kits do it for me especially the prepainted ones. Too perfect for my tastes. I prefer scratch builds. But I can see a ready market for them though.

I was thinking more an exclamamtion mark  ;)

I have bought some of the MDF buildings in the past with a view to sticking styrene brickwork sheets on them. A sort of gap filler while putting builds together. It worked out rather expensive though.....

The Sarissa ones could be improved with a bit of layering. If those windows were a seperate cut for example that slotted into a recess so it gave a slight variation. It'd allow the eye to accept depth.

I have hopes for the 4ground ones based on the test pieces I've been given. Should find out next week :)

Yes, cutting some parts with different thickness to layer on or slot in is what is lacking from most kits to get away from the 3D nature.

My personal interest would be to get them as a base to build on, as for some reason I really suck at building a solid basic box structure (really!) or cutting straight windows/doors, sides,... But as Thunderchicken said, they are a bit too expensive for that.

Still, I might get one of these to experiment with and see if it's worth the trouble required to make it more 3D. And Jimbibbly's are definitely on the to buy list. I also got the Griffin house from Fenris Games, which looks terrific, though the number of components in the kit is very intimidating.
