I am looking into converting some perry plastics, does anyone know if the redoubt seperate heads will fit with them?
-
I doubt it. Redoubt are known to be on the large side and Perry plastic on the small.
I've tried with Perry metal ashigaru heads on the Perry ACW with no luck :?
cheers

Thanks for the quick reply. Shame it wont work, looking for a cheap way to get some acw units for terrible sharp sword up and running.

Don't give up hope just yet, someone might come along who knows better :)

And here he comes. :) Not all Redoubt figures are massive. The figures in their ACW range aren't the giants you find in their other ranges. They are something nearer "normal" sized.

Redoubt Zouave head on Perry Zouave body. Sorry the picture is a bit shit, I was rushing to get it done before somebody posted "No! No! No! Redoubt are massive!"
I failed. :)
A bit hard to judge, because his neck plug isn't a very good fit with the hole, so he is temporarily wedged with a bit of blu-tack. I'd file his neck down a bit more if I were doing it for real and then it might sit a bit more naturally. Not a perfect match maybe, but not too bad a one, either.

That doesnt look to bad actually. Think i will take the plunge and order me some heads with havelocks

And here he comes. :)
Good man :)
I knew someone would come along and blow me out of the water lol

You are right though, those Redoubt ranges that are big are really a completely different scale to most 28mm figures. While I'm not entirely sure if that one in the pic is a good fit or not, the ACW range is much closer to other modern ranges in size.
-
Seems a good fit to me and as you say, once the head is a little lower you probably won't be able to tell :)

Thanks everyone for the replies have to say this is a great forum.

The Perry's do two packs of metal heads specifically for converting their plastics. Slouches (and a couple of straw hats) and a pack of US Coloured troops with caps. I have the slouches and they work great with the original Perry CW plastics. That said there are still some holes in their otherwise magnificent line.

Steve Barber has a lot of seperate head packs:

I would assume these are standard 28mm size ??? (their other smaller ranges are labelled 25mm)

my experience with head swaps is that you have to try it out.
That's why experience reports like Plynkes' and Jimbibbly's are so valuable, THX too
