Title: Hero skills
Post by: joespeed on April 08, 2013, 09:12:14 PM
Hi all,

Just have some question or thoughts regarding the skills of heroes. Do I really have to make a score check for each and every skill? I noticed that some skills are more or less an action (demolitionist for example) and others are just a an ability, which the hero might own for several reasons - good education at West Point, or a natural born ability (like fencer). So, does the hero really would have to make a score check for these educated or natural born abilities?
Thanks for answers!

You are right in that some skills are "innate" and work "automatically". If you re-read the the skill lists, you'll notice that some skills explicitly state that a score check is required (e.g. demolitionist) to work properly; a failed check will either mean that the hero was unsuccessful, for example in spotting an ambush, or that it did not work out as planned (e.g. the demolition charge detonating prematurely or with delay).

ONLY THOSE SKILLS whose descriptions state the need for a skill check require you to perform said check; any skill not stating this need are always in effect (unless cancelled out by a drawback).
