Hello all. I feel like it has been a long time since I posted anything even remotely productive so I thought I'd post a few pics of my US Naval crew from Pulp Figures. I really like these figures and found them easy to paint however some of the faces are slightly oddly proportioned.
Apologies for some of the iffy photos, my camera skills are fairly lacking.

And a group shot of them all together.

I don't really like their bases and I have since changed my technique, I think by just adding a few extra tufts though these ones could be greatly improved.
Apologies if I have already posted these but after having a bit of a flick through my Photobucket album I discovered these old pics that I have no recollection of even taking let alone posting.

I like these, really nice painting.

Nice painting. I think Bob Murch intended the faces to be slightly cartoonish to fit in with the general style of pulp-era illustrations.
-
Very, very nice indeed :).
-
Well done!! Now, the boat!! lol

They look really cool man, nice to see you finishing something. First time for everything. Think the bases look fine but yeah, maybe a few tufts. Really impressed though, I'm terrible at painting whites

Top work there. They look great and the white is really nicely done.

Oh well done. Very nice. ;)

Very nice painting, and the bases are just fine - I've always felt a base should get out of the way of the figure rather than trying to compete, myself. I've got a batch of the Pulp Figures US Navy sailors on my painting bench as we speak, actually, and they're lovely figures, although not as well proportioned as Bob's newer stuff.
Whites are a challenge, although I've come up with a couple of fairly trouble-free ways of getting good, interesting whites, thankfully!

Nice work, Mr J. Looks like they are ready for action! :D

The early Bob Murch minis have indeed a rather squashed meaty look to their faces. Latter minis still look meaty but less compressed.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Don't get me wrong most of the faces are really nice, very easy to paint, there's just the odd one that looks like he's been hit with a shovel.

Found a few more pics of the crew with some extra additions:

And now the whole crew.

I've found quite a bit of pulp stuff as I've been organising my Photobucket account so expect to see a bit more from me.

Don't be so hard on the bases, I think they all look superb. Great job!
-
That's a great collection of salty seamen.
Very nicely done. White isn't easy to shade.

Is this Frothers? lol
Nice PJs...always good to see someone else actually painting their stuff :(
-
Thanks guys. It's not the painting I have a problem with it's the photography, that is why I post so little on here. Trying to become more productively active however.

Lovely work there, Mr J!
Great finish on the whites.
You certainly get the best out of these sculpts.

I wholeheartedly agree.
They are very inspirational as I will be painting some of these same minis up soon myself.
Thanks for posting.
