Blue, you have done a great job with those horses.

Well, these are both excellent.
The cavalry are wonderfully done - crisp, great palette and subtle tones. Lovely.
But there's also something about those thuggee - they really do look like sweaty ne'er-do-wells in the heat of the tropical night... Great figures. Who makes them? I'm guessing Pulp, except they don't look quite as overtly cartoony as the usual Murch style... Or maybe that's the paintjob...

There are at least 3 Pulp Figures included (http://pulpfigures.com/files/pbt24.jpg)

Really difficult choice this one. The skin tones on the thugees are very nicely done and the cavalry have a richness which is stunning. Both excellent entries.

@gnome those thugee are fantastic!  Very scary and full of character.

Thanks all on the comments about the horses... I appreciate the positive feedback because these are the first horses Ive painted in about 15 years and I had forgotten what a pain they can be.  I may wait another 15 to do more! Too bad I want this unit to be at least 14 troopers in size when complete...sigh.  I have a standard bearer almost finished for them as well but couldn't get the banner done in time.  I'll post up pics when he is squared away.

Cheers,

Blue

Great work Blue! You've become one of the people I can recognize without seeing the name :)

I like the skin tones and color choices on the thugee, too, nicely done.

Those horses are magnificent, really beautiful and realistic paint on them!

The Thuggee are all from Pulp Figures. The rightmost trio are from The Mad Guru (http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/148), the leftmost rifleman is from Thuggee Fighters With Rifles (http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/147), and the swordsman is from Thuggee Fighters w/ Separate Weapons (http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/145). They're among the most recent stuff Bob Murch has sculpted, and really show how his personal style has evolved, I think. Lovely figures.

Most of the skin tone comes from W&N Burnt Umber acrylic artist's ink, applied nearly full-strength over a basecoat of Reaper Intense Brown with a quick highlight (before the ink goes on) of Reaper Oiled Leather. The hair is mostly Reaper Walnut Brown, which is a very-nearly-black dark brown.

Nice job guys
Blue what make are those cavalry?

These figures are from the WFB 5th Ed bretonnian army...these particular figures are called mounted squires.

Though some one recently pointed out to me that they are still available from GW...though at their normal nutter prices! In the US $13 each!

But don't you start hunting on eBay until I finish my collection ... ;D

Cheers,

Blue
