Title: Space Combat Game
Post by: Jaeger on May 09, 2013, 08:14:42 PM
A new game I've been Brewing for a while.

So far I've purchased a whole lot of plastic Spaceships:

And I'm almost done with my hex-table:

(I plan on using it for Battletech also, so that's why it's green).

Arenīt those three ships top left from the old Buck Rogers game?

They might be. I just bought a few bags I liked from ebay.

Looking very nice, do you have a link to where you got the ships from? If you want more have a look at EM4.

Search "plastic Space ship" on ebay.com and you get a few to choose from. :)

I even think there's a EM4 seller too.

Have you had a look at silent death for a possible rule set?

Nope. I really want to make this from scratch.

Unless Silent Death has a ship generation system?

It does and it seems to be getting a bit of a rehaul at the moment.

Ah ok. I like the idea of using different dice.

I'm currently looking into a re-write of a free ruleset called Sky Full Of Ships.

Rtght-o. Fighter, battler, transport.

The others (edit: in the top row) were for 'gumball machine' toy dispensers (edit part deux: an eBay seller claims they are cereal box prizes). The designs include things from Message From Space, a Vic Morrow live-action-attempts-anime movie that I can't decide if I love or hate.

I've a metric b***load of each, but I admire someone who'll actually get them used!

A quick question, what size are your hexes? So I can work out how big the star fighters are?

I have the one third from the right top row in my collection of ship some where. It is a silver hard plastic and it came out of a gum ball machine. Mine is at least 30 years old.

Is the table remaining green?  I do recognize the Buck Rogers ship.  Also, they're perhaps 1"-1.5" in diameter - quite small really.

I'm just wondering how they scale with EM4's starfighters.

My hexes are 5cm in size.

The table will remain green, as it was primeraly intented for Battletech. I have a space-table, but without hex. I might decide to play wityhout hexes. Haven't really decided yet.

As it's a recent purchase, I'm fairly sure it's a softer plastic. Not PS/ABS type, more like a PP. Slick, damnably hard to repaint.

The two on either side are definitely from Message. I think the square one is Liabe.

Edit: Yepper. Not sure about any of the others...

The brightly coloured ones are hard plastic. The silver/gold/blue ones er soft plast/rubber-ish.

The brightly coloured ones are hard plastic.

Solid, but still softer than styrene, right? I'd LOVE to be able to get them in PS. Might even like resin.

You can bend the weapons slightly without them breaking.

I finally completed the hex-table:

Now I'll be looking at some rules and painting some ships. I'm still unsure which detial level and want for the rule system.
