Title: Remington's RCW
Post by: Remington on May 09, 2013, 11:53:26 PM
As we are preparing for the Partisan-Con in Mannheim (see here (http://partisan-con.blogspot.de/) and  here at the LAF (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=51369.0)) I decided to consolidate all my Russians in one easy (no, that is a cheap joke...) thread. So allow me to present you all my RCW miniatures, some old, some new:

For the time being, here are some group shots. I'd be honoured if you'd visit our joint blog with Lt. Hazel and Doc Morris and especially my RCW thread here:

(http://mountainsoflead.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/rcw-banner.jpg?w=300&h=90) (http://mountainsoflead.com/projects/the-docs-projects/russian-civil-war/)

These old sailors some of you will have seen in the past:

The past few weeks I've painted another couple of Bolshevik foot soldiers:

More to come soon, here and on our blog.

Very nice, I especially like the faces and the stubble. Stubble is one of the things I need to start adding to faces!

Good lord those are excellent! Always something I've wanted to do, the RCW. I even studied it at university, wrote some odd papers and such, but haven't really done anything game wise.

The faces and the small details are what make your stuff so great! ;D

Thank you, fellas! I am seriously blushing. :) I am painting some more of these (probably another 20 to go), but I'll be off abroad for 10 days, so we'll all have to wait a bit. I don't want to go to the beach, I want to paint!  o_o

No problem Dimi, just give me the ticket and I'll go for you. I think everybody agrees that it is better if you stay at home and paint.  ;)

It's late here so I'll keep it short... I've built and painted a wooden church for our Partisan Con:

:D

You can find out more should you dare to meet me at the Mountains of Lead (http://mountainsoflead.com/)!

I'll also take the pic for the SW and Partisan Blog if you don't mind.

Btw Nice to read something from you again, Mike!

Thanks, guys. By the way I used the technique described by barking irons.

Ben, sure thing! You do that! I would have done it myself but it was late last night.

That is a fantastic church. I'm almost inspired to break out the foamcore and start another Russian church, except I already have one!

A shameless double plug for our con in November, but please check out this thread here (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=51369.0). We have just "unveiled" our Con Give-away and we're hoping you'll come and visit and play with us.

Here he is then... Fyodor Merkuriev, the Cossack, sculpted by the talented Whiffwaff. (Thank you for this, mate!)

Very happy to have had the chance to paint this mini. Obviously the give-away minis will be untainted and I'm looking forward to the many painted versions after the con.

So, all you faithful... Please remember to register till the 1st of September and we're looking forward to our time together!

Thank you, guys.

Mason, I currently have a Bolshevik with a Lewis gun on my desk. It's not much, but we are preparing for a house move, so I doubt I'll be able to do much more than that at the moment. After that I am planing on painting some Bolsheviks in Budenovkas that I am considering painting in red along the lines of Trotsky's Red Guard.

More Bolos? Great! Now kick that Turbo-Ben in the butt and get him to crank out some more of his great buildings for them to fight over  lol lol

Oh, one of our buddies has a birthday coming up, so I am sure he is already.

Actually, you two should get together and share tips on blue roofs and amazing terrain! You are both producing great stuff.

...... It's not much, but we are preparing for a house move, so I doubt I'll be able to do much more than that at the moment. ......

I know that feeling, mate, as we are in the same boat.
Only little things can be attempted at the moment.
If I am in the middle of something major, I know it will take me ages to find anything once the move is over.

It is called Sod's Law!
 ;)

True... I only moved house 7 months ago and I was struggling to get everything together again. Now, by chance, we found a new bigger and nicer flat, so I'll be starting at zero again. :) To alleviate the situation I've decided to move all my miniature stuff by myself... Effectiveness unknown. :D I'm guessing I'll spend a weekend reorganising. Hopefully I'll discover stuff I had forgotten about, so it might be an enjoyable experience. :D

THAT sounds like a plan.
Consider it copied!

Thats not nice from you. Usually I sit while working on these houses, so if he kicks to hard it could happen that I cant build more houses for a while! ;)

Brilliant job you've made of both the figures & buildings. It's enough to make a grown man cry with envy. To make matters worse you might have just pushed me over the edge because I'm now feeling the urge to dabble in a little RCW project myself. Brace yourself, wallet, here we go again   ::)

Keep up the good work. Will be following this thread with interest to see what you have to amaze us all with next  :D

Also, thanks for the secret woodwork recipe, much appreciated.

Thank you and thank you, Michael! Coming from you, that means a lot.

@Stavros

That is the point of this exercise, mate!  :D RCW and BoB need to be revived and we're trying our best! Glad it's working occasionally.
