I don't know whether anybody has mentioned this before but Andrea Miniatures of Spain do a figure of Captain Alatriste in 54mm. Not knowing anything about the character, maybe the 'specialists' can comment. Don't seem to be able to post a picture but here's a link to the catalogue page.

It's great! The face really captures the heroes description in the books.
-
I'd say that's a really fantastic take on the hero of the novels. Of course, all of the Andrea stuff is photographed beautifully for their catalog shots, too.

Whereabouts is it? I kind of got lost on that site, and ending up looking at ...um... lots of models of naked lady Toreadors and such.
It isn't my fault. If a website has a button marked "Chicas" I'm afraid I'm going to click on it. :)

Did you notice thay eve have som naughty 28mm's? I am just saying in case you are planning to expand on the Pink Baron story. :-)

That's interesting. When I click on the link now I'm getting the Alatriste page. Before it was taking me to the home page.
Now to find those 28s Hammers mentioned...

The miniature is fantastic, including the scenic base. I have one waiting to be painted since 2005 aprox. (the miniature is so good sculpted that I don't want to ruin it with my paintjob)
The figure can pass for any given spanish swashbuckler, given that since the Alatriste film aired, the face of the character is going to be tied to the face of Viggo Mortensen, who is sleeker that the sculpted guy.

That's exactly how I wish to paint Dom's swashbuckler... :)

Check the 3d range. They are medeival, really, losely based on Hal Foster's prince Valiant.

Moduni (http://www.moduni.com/product_info.php/products_id/7938005)carries a range of 'gentlemen's collectibles' from El Viejo Dragon. True enough, 1:43 is a bit big, but hey, they could be teutonic beauties, right?!

They are rather nice. :) Alatriste is a lovely model, but not how I pictured him from the books. Still, that's my problem really, not theirs.
Some of those 30mm "Camelot" figures are quite interesting. I wonder how they'd stack up next to other manufacturers.

A have just a few of them and they are tall and slender, closer to Mithril in style. So heightwise they are in pair with Copplestone, but in build more naturalistic.

Those Moduni chaps seem a little obsessed with the theme of 'bath time through the ages.' I wonder why that is?
Still, it's as good a field of history to study as any, I suppose.

Moduni is a German company, and you know what they are like with their spa obsession. Its 'Bad Kleinkirchheim' here and 'Bad Kissingen' there...
-
Is that why they're always invading France via Belgium, then? To take the waters in Spa on the way?
-
Well, I agree that could easily be Alatriste, as described in the books. Still, kind of a dry figure, no? I like this one better:
