Okay so me and a friend take turn buying a few miniatures that we like and paint for our group. He just finished with around 300 figures for numerous SAGA war bands and now its my turn. I chose the Wars of the Roses, but with a twist. Since we both are partial to football I decide that I will paint each minor factions within the Yorkist and Lancastrian armies in the colors of certain F.C.s.
Yorkist
Stoke City F.C.
West Bromwich Albion F.C.
Queens Park Rangers F.C. Yeovil Town F.C.
Lancastrian
Chelsea F.C.
Swansea City A.F.C.
Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.
This list is just to balance the colors so if anyone has a swap they think is on the wrong side let me know :D I will be posting the WIP pictures as I take them.
This was inspired be cause I find the War of the Roses fascinating and I enjoy being a football coach. We also plan on using this game as a teaching aid.

Interesting concept. Look forward to the photos of the works in progress.

Sounds like as good an idea as any for picking proven colour combinations, and a great in-joke into the bargain. Nice idea :)
-
I presume there is some sort of hatred rule in play for when Wolves face off against the Baggies? ;)
-
Nice idea but..........you'll need an away strip a third strip and a champions league strip for the bigger retinues, you'll also have to repaint every august ;)
-
I take it Chelsea will be the ones hiring all the foreign mercenaries? ;)
Haven't York got a bit of an easy job, QPR and West Brom are both blue and white, aren't they?
-
@ Ray I changed QPR to Yeovil Town F.C., is that a better color scheme? ;)
@Arlequin I believe they need one! ;)
-
The post came get ready for the pictures!
-
Hurrah!
-
I building my retinues 2 archers to 1 MAA or billman, and it just seems like too many archers.
-
Yeah, it might be historically accurate, but it's quite boring. I have a retinue of more or less 1:1:1 bills, bows and men at arms. Not historically accurate, but a lot more fun ;)

So I'm not sure how to post pictures ???

Here is my Lancastrian captain, Sir William Hemlock. He will be get some green stuff work on his arm.

Those look like very interesting conversions, look forward to seeing the painted result.

Which figures did you use as a start point for the conversions?

In a good way I hope. :D

Mike, I started with WR11 Mounted Standard Bearers. I will be doing a few more conversion if you would like a step by step.
-
Cool conversions, nice idea of mixing metals and plastics
-
Thanks Max, I am not nearly as good at conversions as you are.
-
Please do show your finished conversions before painting. I often get ideas from seeing what others do.
Mine are here

Here are some shots from a quick battle a friend and I played, sadly my Yorkist did not fair to well. I am still cleaning the figures up and I will post more glamor shots after I take them. We used Silent Invaders rule set.
