Title: Mick's 28mm Fantasy Projects (LOTR, Otherworld) Mirkwood Rangers 27.07.2014
Post by: Mick_in_Switzerland on June 02, 2013, 04:49:13 PM
I have a long running topic in the Medieval section about Swiss and Burgundians.
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=42627.0

Here are some of my fantasy projects.

Here are some Hasslefree fantasy adventurer women.

Here is the GW Plastic Flying Fellbeast.  I modified the flight stand so that the post can be swapped for a longer one.
The mounted Witchking is a spare rider on a Perry WOTR horse.
The Fellbeast head is a spare from the kit.  Eowyn and Merry are from the metal set (which I also have).

You've got quite a variety of VERY NICELY painted & universally cool minis. The Other World Idol & the Hasslefree Babes, not necessarily in that order, are my favorites. GREAT WORK!

This is a lovely collection! I admire your painting quite a lot, and I like what you did with the chun-li lookin' dwarf lady.  ;)

That's exactly how my set didn't look when I was a kid... lol

Thank-you for your kind comments.

This is a tiny part of the collection.
I have about 3,500 painted 28mm figures, mostly historical.
Though not everything is painted up to this standard.

There are Spartans, Romans, Celts, Vikings, Carolingians, lots of Medievals, ACW, Zulu War, lots of WW2 and some moderns.
In fantasy, I have a lot more GW LOTR and some more Hasslefree and Otherworld.

Here is my Flickr Gallery

I will add some more pictures from time to time.

Regards

Mick

I had to wait a long time for the Otherworld figures.
The Female Thief came as an extra in the parcel - to say sorry for the delay - it has not been launched yet.

I have some more Otherworld figures  - Djinn, Harpies, Fire Giant, Minotaur, Satyr, Lizardmen and Medusa.
The figures are very nice. I will photograph them and add them to this thread.

My next big things will be Reaper Bones - a work collegue bought into Bones 1 Kickstarter and is mainly a Sci Fi player.
I will buy a lot of the Bones 1 fantasy figures from him.
I am also backing Bones 2 with Core and extra sets.  That is 186 miniatures so far but I will have to wait a year for them.

All the Guys, Gals, & Whatever look WONDERFUL! GREAT WORK!

With each post, I come closer to cracking & sending of an order for Other World. I think when I do give in, you should receive a commission...I'll suggest it in the order.

I love the way you do your blues! The contrast between the blue and the flesh of the Djinn is particularly striking. The minotaur has some great definition in his flesh too. Nice fantastical collection!

This past fortnight, I have returned to my dungeon project and started to improve some Heroquest furniture.
I also bought some resin furniture from Scotia Grendel.

Heroquest furniture rebuilt with plastic card from Renedra bases.

That is a great collection of minis from a variety of manufacturers that go very well together. It is always nice to see collections of disparate minis themed together by a great paint job.

Title: Mick's 28mm Fantasy Projects (LOTR, Otherworld) Reaper Bones 1.6.2014
Post by: Mick_in_Switzerland on June 01, 2014, 12:48:52 PM
I have been interested in bones for a while, so I bought a few in the Bring and Buy sale at Carronade.  I was quite impressed so I bought some more from Miniatures Heroes.

Here are Reaper Bones Griffon, Owlbear, Eyebeast, Worm, Oxidation Beast, Medusa and Spider with Otherworld Characters as comparison.

Bones is a very good material for large creatures as it is light and durable.  These beasts will survive gaming better than metal equivelants.
Do not use spray primer as it can stay sticky - I undercoated with GW Black, GW Scorched Earth and Vallejo Green Grey and all worked OK.
I have had a strange problem with Vallejo Games colour on these - some of the colours came out very glossy - I don't know why.
I repainted the areas with GW or Vallejo Model Colour and that was OK.

As far as I can remember they are Mini-nature 6mm blossom tufts from Silflor
I think that the actual part numbers are :-
726-31 Silflor 6mm Spring Blossom tufts
726-32 Silflor 6mm Summer Blossom tufts
I bought them from a trader at the Carronade Show in Falkirk in May.

You can get them by mail order from Antenocitis Workshop
