Title: Attack on Gravenstafel Ridge 24 April 1915
Post by: Will Bailie on April 30, 2008, 04:29:01 AM
This weekend at the Edmonton Wargamers' May Day Convention, I will be hosting a game based on the German attack on Gravenstafel Ridge, 24 April 1915.  The game will be played using the Contemptible Little Armies rules.

Some pre-game photos of the miniatures and the terrain can be found here:

A view of the trenches:

Nice looking board.  I hope you and the folks at your table have a good game!

Thanks, guys, I'm looking forward to the game.

The players seem to like using the rats as morale markers, too - there's a lot more enthusiasm for "ratting" a unit, then when we used dice or bingo chips.  Dice were a particularly bad choice, because people kept picking them up and using them!

Cheers

Nice.  And I like the comparison shots in your gallery.  Is it my eyes or do Renegade and GWM go quite well together?  I had a notion that they wouldn't  :?:

IMHO in case of the germans they don't, the Brigade helmets are very different from GWM or Renegade.

Thanks for the kind comments.

While I'm happy to mix figures from different companies, it's easy to tell which ones go together.  The GWM models are quite distinct from those by the other companies.  Brigade and Renegade are closer to each other in appearance - same sculptor, I believe.  As much as possible, I keep like with like - I try not to mix different types of models within the same unit.

I've updated my photobucket account with photos from yesterday's game:

The outcome of the game was a victory for the Germans, as they captured the one of their targets (the village of Keeselaere)and were poised to push through to St Julien (off the Canadian board edge).  Congrats to Rob and Matt, the successful German commanders!
