You have more patience than me to do all those plates and laces in different colours.  Agree the boats are looking interesting already

Is that an anchor he has strapped to his back or is it a Japanese stylised palm tree or other botanical obscurity? If it is an anchor, I hope he doesn't get his ship sunk under him.

Post by: Byblos on November 05, 2013, 09:42:55 PM
lol Yes it's a "grapin" ( I don't know the english word ) , an ancient anchor for Japanese ships !

Murakami was a Wako (pirate) leader who sided with the Môri ...

Old glory are much better than I expected. I am really tempted by their monks.

You could ! OG minies are very cute , and cheap !

I will buy some others later !

And don't forget Black Hat minies too !
Title: Re: [Sengoku Jidaï] Some Samuraïs !
Post by: carlos13th on November 23, 2013, 09:58:33 PM
I like black hat a lot. I am making a Samurai force for kings of war. I am probably going to use Black Hats Ronin for my Militia Mob and a combination of The Assault Group and Perry Warrior monks for my penitents mob. Only have 10 Monks so far though so many add some old glory in the future.

Do you have any other old glory mini's btw? The website has no pictures of most.

Yes ! I 've got some cavalry and Yari / Yumi / Teppô ashigarus ...

I will post some Yumi ( archers ) ashigarus but ... let me some time to paint them  ;)

(They are excellent with straw rain coats and very well engraved )

Oh ! But i think :

Here , you could see Koreans and Samuraïs / Ashigarus , a lot from OG , from an axcellent and enthousiastic painter !

I really like straw capes on miniatures.

Thanks for the pictures.

Btw do you mind If I use your painted Old Glory as the Picture for the Samurai sticky thread? Atm all I have is a picture of their unpainted seven Samurai and I think one of your pictures would represent the range better.

(I'm currently painting some Perry's ashigarus)

Yari ashigaru from Perry !
Title: Re: [Sengoku Jidaï] Some Samuraïs !
Post by: carlos13th on November 26, 2013, 08:34:22 PM
Cool. I am tempted by the Archer Ashigaru and the Kneeling Firing line.

Already have the Monks with Nagata and the Charging Samurai that I need to paint by them.

Are you going to place them in a unit with old glory or are they gonna be separate.
Title: Re: [Sengoku Jidaï] Some Samuraïs !
Post by: Byblos on November 26, 2013, 08:55:12 PM
I will place them with Old Glory , and maybe some Northstar / Ronin ...

1 Unit = 12 minies including 1 leading Samouraï & 1 Nobori bearer

(For Killer Katana 2)

Killer Katana looks really intresting.

Yes , and written by a real specialist , with a lot of optional "chrome" !

( And siege rules )

With a lots of supplement (Including Imjin Wars) with specific army list ...

Going to have to try to acquire a copy. I hear its worth it for the pictures alone.

Hmmmm ... Not so much pictures on the rules book , but more (with maps) in the supplement books !

(The more in Imjin Wars)

But KKII is a very good set of rules , with a lot of flavors !

You could buy them directly fron the author - Brian Bradford - via Ebay : heartbreaker28
Ouch ... prices increased !

Thanks Byblos, I really should have that book by now. I love richard hook paintings, it's that samurai in the tall helmet that's caught my imagination, I have a photo of the real armour but it does not seem the same...

The samurai with the tall helmet is Tokugawa Yoshinao , 7th son of Ieyasu : his armor is preserved in the Tokugawa Art Museum in Nagoya (said the book)

The other samuraï is Tokugawa Hidetada , Ieyasu's heir , and his armor is preserved in the Kunozan Toshogu Museum in Shizuoka  :)

Here my 2 firts bases for an Ashigarus Teppô unit (Arquebusiers)...

Minies Perry Miniatures et Old Glory

OG are cools : they wears simple ( and fast painting ) armor ( from the second half of XVIth century )  , and are very dynamics  !

Mixed with Perry's , it's very sympathetic !
