As my solo campaign is shifting to more southern areas, I have ordered some more wilderness terrain, a few hills/ ridges and a river section and some other stuff, pics will be up when I receive them.
BUT, can anyone give tips on where I can find some suitable bushes and especially cacti, they are a bit elusive :(.
-
Legionnaire,
I made my own cacti from green pipe cleaner, appropriately based, washed and dry brushed. I bought pale brown lichen from AC Moore to use as tumbleweed and scrub.
-
Pegasus make cactus, several threads on LAF.
-
I agree - the Pegasus cacti are very good.
-
Yep, Pegasus make some good ones. I too prefer clumps of lichen (not all beige) for scrub.
-
I think I remember Ged of Gringo40s writing that he was intending to produce Cactii to go with his various Mexican ranges. Ask him if they are due out soon?
-
I'll echo the Pegasus cacti comment, great set. Also the Imex Alamo accessories has a number of cacti, a little on the small side (1/72 scale) but they do the job.
-
Thanks for the info gentlemen. Might have to order some Pegasus cacti then.

Here are some of the Pegasus cacti:

They have two different boxes;one 1/48th, one 1/72nd. Its worth getting both sets and mixing them up, so you can have the same plants in different stages of growth. :)

They are very nice, you get plenty in a box, but make sure you get both boxes :)
-
now that's some amazing piece of scenery :o

Just a small factual note for those unfamiliar with the area. If you're doing the Saguaro cactus, or the famous cactus from the cartoons:
It is only present in the Sonoran Desert, or...
Or, Mexico, Arizona and a small piece of California. The other cactii from Pegasus work in a larger range, but the Saguaro is only really found in the Sonoran Desert, so don't bother with it if you're doing Texas, New Mexico, or a northern desert (Deadwood etc.).

I use Houndstooth burrs for cactus.

Thanks Elbows and workerBee.
And Cory - talk me a few seconds to see them, but that's inventive use of flora!
