As everything I do seems to have a bit of a theme I have decided to start this one topic suits all thread for my posts.
Being on holiday this week I was determined to get something under the brush and set myself a target of one a day, I am pleased to say I succeeded :)
First up I wanted to do a four bearer version of the recent Redoubt sedan chair, Foundry figures and all plastikard
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/2-DSCF0101_zps2824abe2.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/2-DSCF0101_zps2824abe2.jpg.html)(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/3-DSCF0103_zpsea88dcc5.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/3-DSCF0103_zpsea88dcc5.jpg.html)
Tuesday I finished off these Tsuba Japanese that had been on my desk for too long. So long in fact I could not remember what paints I had used to base coat them so had some fun mixing shades.
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/4-DSCF0106_zpsb989ef12.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/4-DSCF0106_zpsb989ef12.jpg.html)
I also knocked these out, not my favourite figures tbh but I bought them blind and they were undercoated. Redoubt Japanese cavalry from the Boxer range

Some Westwind civilians
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/1-DSCF0099_zps5ae2d11c.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/1-DSCF0099_zps5ae2d11c.jpg.html)
and finally today I finally got around to adding to my Perry Choson Koreans, just the one mind
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/2-DSCF0092_zps225086a8.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/2-DSCF0092_zps225086a8.jpg.html)(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/6-DSCF0096_zpsa3fc42e9.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/6-DSCF0096_zpsa3fc42e9.jpg.html)(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/7-DSCF0097_zps72473b66.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/7-DSCF0097_zps72473b66.jpg.html)(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/3-DSCF0093_zpsa8431138.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/3-DSCF0093_zpsa8431138.jpg.html)

Just a quickie Sui infantryman this week. The sculptor obviously copied Michael Perry's pic in the Osprey book so I did too.

Stuning work, love the read, the shiled and the spear-tp-base in particular
-
Some lovely work there Svenn. Though I'd not seen those White Knight figures and now so much temptation. Think I'll resist till my Flintloque stuff is finished off though.
-
Back to Korea with another Choson, nearly joined the Mefieval Order with this one but decided to stick with the relative obscurity of this thread

That's a good colour scheme that I'm afraid I'm going to have to copy :D
The details on these figures have been putting me off but seeing yours I'm a bit more positive now :)
cheers
James

Looking great. I picked up a pack of the 'Chosen' some while ago and did actually manage to undercoat 2 of them :D

Excellent work, your in danger of becoming a soft arty farty southerner ;)
-
First addition since the end of September - that's a bit depressing but I have done quite a few bits for commissions and have been a little unwell so at least I have an excuse of sorts ::)
Another Choson, just four more from this pack to do and I have started them ;D

cheers Svennn
-
Wow!
Stunning!
-
Bloody hell!! :o Insomnia suits you. Wonderful shield painting there.
I'm sure you should be spending Christmas stuffing yourself with chocolate and drinking booze rather than doing anything productive. ;)
-
Saddo alert!! I painted this one yesterday morning, yes Christmas Day, and finished him about 7.30am :?
Couldn't disagree more, Christmas is abaiut just that: Children getting up early to play with their toys!

Still not sleeping so here are the results of many a wee hour this week. All a bit rushed but I could not find the enthusiasm for the sculpts. Worshipped like a god on here but the enormous misshapen hands and cartridges not removed on conversions etc. do not endear Mr Copplestone to me very much :o
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/1-DSCF0377-001_zpsb1301a2f.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/1-DSCF0377-001_zpsb1301a2f.jpg.html)

Wow! Great detail! :-*

Figures away Monday :D
cheers
James
-
Which manufacturer?
the two ladies are Redoubt. I think they are trying too hard to fit both China and Japan. The chap in the middle I knocked up in greenstuff a few years ago but never liked. I changed the weapon and slapped the paint on him to get him off the workbench.
Svennn
-
Ladies???
Lovely details :-* :-* :-*

Peachy of the highest order. :-*
Glorious technicolour brushwork! ;D
-
John Jenkins?
Who's ever they are they look loverly :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
John Jenkins?
That was going to be my question too :)
-
Yep, they are John Jenkins Designs - the best range by far but alas no longer available. I see the painting service John is/was involved in still uses these castings from their ebay listings so I presume they have the moulds?
-
There is still an entry for them on the website it just doesn't list any packs.... I think someone said you could get them if you contacted JJD. Of course without any pics of the range, how are you supposed to know what to ask for?
-
JJD (UK) listed a heading for them too but only the undead ones were ever offered and they have gone now as well.
I have quite a few different packs but only one of each and pics I saved years ago, I bought all mine in Hong Kong whilst on a business trip. I think I still have the header cards but it would be tricky to match my pile of loose metal to them for the codes.
-
Stunning as ever and purple is my fav colour...
-
Bloody gorgeous!
:-* :-*
As well as the last couple of update that I missed.
::)
I like the way you have tarted up the 'not so good' sculpts with such flamboyant designs.
Are they based on 'someone we know's kimono collection?
;)
-
Cracking work Svenn :-*
-
JJD (UK) listed a heading for them too but only the undead ones were ever offered and they have gone now as well.
Got any of those in that Attic of tours?
-
been awhile, a month in fact, so I thought I would add a couple of recent bits
done some more of the JJD. Temporary base whilst I decide how I will group them there is also something very unusual, in fact unique, about some of these - can you spot it?

Yep! What Don Nicco said, 'specially that chariot, excellent colours 8)

Stunning!
You are taunting me with all that purple!

Oh, yes!
Very nice indeed.

Very nice minis...I think the unique point is that perhaps some are left handed ???? :)

No, I have had to do left handed before. Believe it or not the second set of four infantry are my first using a full black undercoat instead of white. I was happy with them but they were no quicker and I had to change and think through how to do some of the colours, everything I have painted so far since has been on white.

You must be a posh southerner, as proper southerners cant afford black as undercoat and use brown instead.

Been awhile (again!!) I have finished a few more bits but they have mainly been additions and duplicates of stuff shown before. But I did finish this chariot today.
It is the same model as the purple Generals one but I did not want two (and I had already painted the commander as a foot figure for an infantry unit) so I scratch built a new front and sides and swapped out the crew.

That chariot is excellent work even allowing for how good your stuff is in this thread.

I considered adding this to the Colonial Expedition but as I have already joined I decided to return here to the quiet corridors of the deserted Other adventures and leave a slot for someone else to grab.
anyways, a provincial Mandarin mid 19th C.

Its just a mass of brush strokes to make an approximation of the picture Michael Perry did in the Taiping Osprey book

and another month has gone by and due to the arthritis, bad eyes and a large dollop of can't be arsedness all I have added are these few disparate bits
I have started re-doing the Foundry pirates after I traded the originals

and these Tsuba figs that were surplus to my RJW needs so I painted them as early war or even Boxer Rebellion

Great stuff Bagovich, I especially like the Tsuba Japanese. ;D

a few more of the pirates, I have done a few more figures but they do not make much sense without some more I still need to finish

Lovely colourful chaps :)
-
More nice work there. Love the shading.
-
Not getting much done for myself lately but I did enjoy doing this chap. Its an SHQ miniature and although he seemed very much true 25mm when I was painting him he does scale up really well with the Mike Owen Cavalcade / Forlorn Hope sculpts. I bought a few others from the range, all blind as there are no pics on the website, and they are ok too - all seem to be directly from Osprey illustrations.

How depressing :'( :'( Almost two months since my last post in this thread and to make matters worse I had nearly three weeks off work over the holidays. :-[ >:D Got virtually nada done during the break but had a bit of a spurt this weekend and the last couple of afternoons.
A couple of civilians from Redoubt

Yep, Boxer Range - BOC4 in the Civilians section. No picture on the website of course. I bought two sets and swapped the loads on the other pair.

Really like the coolies Svennn :o :o I think that they will need to labor in the back of beyond!

Nice additions!
-
Are these the ones we chatted about at the other day? Looking good.
-
Fab work Svenn!
-
Lovely work as usual. How do they fit in sizewise with your other stuff? Redoubt are supposedly big.
-
It has been a very long time but I finally got a little time and I managed another unit for my Warring States army. Previously I had been doing these pretty drab but decided to inject a bit of colour this time.
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/1-DSCF1054_zpsdkwv5ch5.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/1-DSCF1054_zpsdkwv5ch5.jpg.html)
I did these very quickly and I was on quite a roll so I did crossbowmen to accompany them (back rows are the same figures from above).
(http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w198/svennnthedhnut/2-DSCF1055_zps0mtqr2mj.jpg) (http://s176.photobucket.com/user/svennnthedhnut/media/2-DSCF1055_zps0mtqr2mj.jpg.html)
and as I thought the blue worked quite nicely I did a unit in green too

I have just bought a unit of armoured crossbowmen from evilbay so they are next, when they get here and after I have stripped them.

Yeah, lovely brushwork :-*

When have your colour schemes ever been drab?
These look fab old chum :-*
-
Great paintwork :-* :-* :-* though those greens are a *bit* bright :D
Lon
-
They do look great. Though for a moment there I half hoped they might be some of your Crisis loot. ;)
-
Well it was going to be the crossbowmen I got on evilbay but they only need rebasing and I managed to get these from the seller after the sale. Tried to replicate some museum exhibit shields I found pictures of and after a few goes I ended up just sponging them for speed.
