Title: More Renaissance non-humans
Post by: Franz_Josef on July 04, 2013, 02:06:31 AM
White Knight's latest Renaissance-era elf project has got me to looking for other period non-humans.  Have the Black Hat dwarves, some of the Mirlton (old Grenadier) evil elves and, a few Ogres and a a GW halfling.  Has anyone tried these Eureka miniatures as a halfling artillery team:

Yes he does. I just ordered a bunch of halflings from him the other day. Be sure to check out his blog for a bunch more nice stuff.

I did compile some illustrated lists on my blog of various manufacturers of human and non human renaissance ranges, which can be found here:

Includes listings for renaissance halflings, greenskins, ogres, dwarfs, elves and both fantasy and historical humans.

Shipping to the U.S. seems prohibitively expensive.

White Knight charges literally at cost for all shipping, not even adding for packaging, so what the Royal Mail charge is what you pay. Maybe prohibitive but hardly unfair.

In case there is any confusion due to my location, they are shipped from the UK.

I never said WK's shipping costs are unfair, just that shipping to the US is very expensive.  By the time you're done, between costs for conversions to lbs. or euros plus shipping, the figures can cost about twice the price.  The few Mirlton and Black Hat miniatures I have were purchased from dealers in the U.S. who, buying in bulk, can make the cost more affordable.  WK's product is excellent, but the price for us on this side of the pond is high.

Yes, the cost from UK to US and US to UK goes cyclically.

Though right now it seems "expensive" either way!

Maybe the Postal Services are finally charging what the costs actually are?

I refuse comment on customs fees because 1) I don't risk them (so far) in the USA and 2) that leads to political commentary sometimes.

Gracias,

Glenn

Seriously guys, try shipping to Australia sometime.  >:(

That said, WK (and the UK in general) offer decent rates to Commonwealth countries.

Also, the pound just sank to a 3 month low apparently.  ;)
