I've been commissioned to write a wargame!
I can now officially announce that I have been hired to write a game called Frostgrave for the Osprey Wargames series. The game will be released in 2015.
Frostgrave is fantasy game in which each player controls a wizard, his apprentice, and a band of warriors and leads them into the frozen ruins of an ancient magical city in search of lost secrets of power. Of course, despite being buried in ice for a thousand years or so, there are still plenty of nasty creatures that survived the deep freeze. Players will have to battle against undead, constructs, demons, and, of course, other wizards as they try to build up their magical libraries.
Anyway, there is more information on my blog: http://www.therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/frostgrave.html, where I’ll be updating the writing process as I go along. I’ll also be showing off some artwork samples. The ones here are just a few of the thumbnail sketches from the artist.

Bloody 'eck! Sounds similar to an idea I'm entertaining for a birthday game at my place this year. Will follow with interest similar to that of other interested parties, such as the interesting von Lucky.

Great idea for a game! Also, fantastic title!

Never been a fan of the magi, being a Dwarf player, but this has piqued my interest

Sounds great! I love fantasy skirmish above all else, and it sounds like this'll be a great unique setting. Smashing.
Really keen to know what sort of game mechanics you're planning on using (derived from Osprey's IHMN or Ronin or maybe something completely different?). Keep us posted!

sounds good... :D

I knew if I googled "Frostgrave" a black metal band would come up first! lol
Not that I'm into that sort of music, you understand. ;)
Good concept though and a great excuse to break out every snow effect known to man.

Ooooooooh. This sounds like my kind of game. :)

Very interested in reading some info on this game's mechanics as the make up of the warbands are so unusual (mostly mages as I understand it?)

Hey guys,
Thanks for all of the interest in the game so far. It's still a long road until it actually reaches publication, but its getting there. I've got a new blog up talking about one of the big early decisions I made before writing the game. Which can be read here:

I've actually just finished off the first draft of the rules. I've still got some work to do, but before the year is up, I will be calling on play-testers and priority goes to Lead Adventure members! In the meantime, I thought you'd like to see another sample of the artwork, this time a finished piece. This one depicts a Chronomancer, one of the ten different types of wizard in the game.

The Chronomancer is a very good piece, but two of the battlescenes were delivered today... wow. The artist, really upped the ante with them...

ah, great to hear more on this game! sign me up for playtesting. I have slowly been collecting wizard miniatures for a rather similar project of my own.
