Title: BUF mini-makers?
Post by: JollyBob on July 09, 2013, 02:30:27 PM
Does anyone know if there are other companies that make figures compatible with the Musketeer Miniatures BUF? They only have the three packs, and ideally I'd like another 4-6 figures in the range.

I've seen a few similar, but nothing really matches the very distinctive uniform they wear, at least not without heavy conversions and I just can't be bothered with that.  :?

Cheers!

Bob

I was looking to use Empress SCW figures, maybe someone else can chime in?

Riever Castings make specific BUF figures, although they may look a little small compared to Musketeer. Artizans very private army figures might also be useful, although they lack the 'winged' trousers and puttees look of the Musketeer minis.

When I was still playing VBCW I built a full company of 100+ BUF from the Musketeer minis, plus the Empress SCW, making use of the different head swops available (gave plenty of variety)  ;)

Thanks for the replies chaps.  :)

I hadn't seen the Reiver figures before and although they are a bit crude, they are an option...

I'm only planning a skirmish force, not a mental Akky-style army group (combined BUF and armed Constabulary - think RIC supported by Black & Tans) so possibly I could get away with some headswaps on a second pack of the Musketeer rilfemen.

Food for thought.  o_o

You cannot mix Reiver with Musketeer sadly, Reiver being true 25mm.
I used Empress Assault Guards from the SCW range, some are in tunics and breeches that fit well, the peaked caps are similar to those seen in BUF photos. The figures in overalls are very generic and with a head swap can be used for most factions.
Some of the heads were replaced with Woodbine Brodie helmets as the Musketeer BUF have tin hats on their haversacks.
Sadly, mine are sold now and I do not think I have any photos, I am toying with getting a few figures again and will probably go for BUF first.

"You cannot mix Reiver with Musketeer sadly, Reiver being true 25mm." I think you can; the Reivers just look like short-houses. Not everyone is exactly 6foot tall.
