Title: sci fi creature
Post by: Alan maguire on July 13, 2013, 02:16:54 PM
Unfinished sculpt, progress so far . no idea of what to call it or where it might fit into. The creature is about shoulder height to a 28mm figure...

Hi Von, the tail needs more work, make it bigger and more reptile i think? not sure if the legs are ok, thick enough? not sure if i should add eyes n a head or just leave the head as it is. whats your thoughts Von?

I was thinking lips, arms and eyes, but for something different how about lips, large nostrils and little T-rex style arms? Tail to balance the head just like T-rex I realise now). Legs fine if head doesn't get much larger.

Von... defo somthing different! i just added the basics of the nostrils, got figure how to build the head around them n the lips, A head without eyes. hmm? brain storm time me thinks! .. he locates his prey with smell? , *no vison* sound/vibration maybe? . like a bat? ....

Purely smell - no eyes or ears! I recently found my copy of Dougal Dixon's 'After Man'. Some weird and wonderful stuff in there.

Von... Yeah purley smell, keep it simple as such, that would maybe call for some radical looking nostrils? i've never heard of After man? also im trying to get the nostrils not to like their his eyes if you get what i mean.

Maybe slit (ie not round) nostrils? Maybe Google some images on real animals, or search for some of Dixon's stuff (here's a search on 'After Man'):

Von.... cool, i tried the slits a few times but they kept looking like eyes or atleast gave a slight impression of eyes if you get me?, so i thought i'd try the nostrils in this way, given it a reconisable nose feature . glad you like it!  :)   .....

Credit to Von Lucky!!! for his input and ideas which have made this little beasite progress!  :D

Have you tried rubber and resin? Don't know what country you're in - or a good tutorial to show you how to do this.

Anyone else able to help?
