Post by: El Frantico on August 04, 2013, 04:37:38 PM
Hello everyone! My first real post here :) I just finished putting together the HMS Fly  model from laser dream works and thought I would share. I really love the model. It has tons of detail and was fun to put together. If your looking for a ship definitely gove them a look Here are some pics:

You did  a nice job!  I have obtained most of their ships myself, but have not had the time to assemble them.  Did you sand and fill the hull exterior once assembled to remove the stair step of the strips?  Please tell us more about that process.  Thanks.

Great Work on the rigging and sails. The ocean and sand bar are pretty sharp also.

Thanks! I plan doing more work on the table.

As far as the process, I basically just followed the steps in the instructions that where included and everything came together fine. I only had to sand the hull below the deck since that part is pink foam. All the strips lined up very nicely and I didn't get any noticeable stair stepping. I used a polyurethane wood stain on the deck, mast, bowsprit and spars and the rest and I painted with regular acrylic paint. Primer was not needed as the wood soaked up the paint nicely.
