Title: Making a gaming table
Post by: Justin Buck on August 07, 2013, 09:41:33 PM
Ok, I want to shoot some ideas off you guys for making a gaming table.  I have been able to annex and fend off repeated attempts from my wife to take away my war room, the only room I'm allowed to keep my figures/paint table/gaming books.  Since space is very limited I have not been able to have a gaming table that is more than a cloth over the dinning room table.  I was thinking about having a table that drops down from the wall.  I was thinking about a 6' x 4' table.  The only problem is that if I had it hinged to the wall the table wouldn't fit.  So I thought of having the table sit on a ledge when in the up position and also another ledge for gaining use.  I was going to have 2 legs hinge down when horizontal and the other end connected to the wall.  When up, I was thinking of having the top secured by a cord or something so it wouldn't fall over.  Here is a rough sketch of what I was thinking.  If you know of a way to do something better than what I described, let me know.  I've never built something like this before.

I did something similar in the past for a 4x4. Just make sure the 'lip' on the table that hooks onto the ledge is solid. Preferably have it integral to the structure so it can't move as people will lean on the board.
