I am intending on running a 7 TV game at BLAM. We have decided to build a new board. First though while I wait on the foam to arrive. I am starting some of the cast.
The board is going to be a moon base. So first off the cast need a way to get there.
I bought the pegasus hobbies Apollo 27. Its 1/72 scale so I have to convert it to 28 mm.
I have used a crooked dice argo pilot

Some of the rough bits on the black paint are due to a problem I had with the spray paint. But they will be hidden once the rocket is built

Size of the rest of the rocket

Great! Looking forward to this Colin :)
-
Me too, I haven't even made a start on mine!
-
Damn, wish I could be there!
Cracking stuff. I've used the Pegasus Kit on a couple of different projects. Works a treat.
-
A great start

Picture of the rocket for scale.
Not sure what colours to paint it?

I'd suggest either "S:1999 Eagle White", or silver overall with prominent RAF roundels. Unless it's for a villain, in which case some death's heads wouldn't go amiss, IMHO.
-
Here we go. Get's the popcorn out and settles on the sofa to watch the next dose of magic take form.
-
This is looking good!

Excellent Colin! That rocket REALLY looks the part! The Ainsty buggy driver looks a perfect fit!

Took a bit of work. Had to chop the double 1/72 scale seat in two. Added the control desk in front of him

I'd Google Ministry Of Space.
-
Well, any update? Have you finished yet? You have had a full day now. ;D :D
-
:-* Great stuff. Can't wait to see it fully painted.
-
Thanks guys

Impressively nice. :-*
Wish we had cork chips available here. Just seems like the wonder material.
Already awaiting the next update.

Very nice where did you get the cork from?

That sounds brillant ! ;)

Superb build! :-*
The board will surely look stellar when finished!

How annoying! I just spentc.£15 (and postage) for five pieces on e-bay for my Salute 2015 game. Still, if i need more i know where to go.
Spectacualr work so far by the way.

Looking great. - those hydra robots fit in well
8)
-
Just found this... Can I say say fxxk, looking forward to seeing this at BLAM and hopefully getting a chance to play...briliant :D
-
Coming together very nicely. Love the Hydra robots they look grand ;)
-
Ahhh I always wanted to do a Nazi moon base with a moon scape to it. But of course I've never realised anything...
Will this be at BLAM!?
Remember that all impact craters on a moon surface will be exactly round and have a raised rim. They're made by explosions equivalent in power to nuclear bombs after all.
-
Eye-watering.
Now, just have to figure out how can I get out of Crisis and get to BLAM... ;)
-
Looks really good!
-
Some more updates photos
First one isn't great. Will try and get a better one tomorrow

Still have some stuff to do to fill up the open areas and the interior of the base plus a load of bits and pieces
-
Looking good, sir.
Very good!
:-*
That colouration looks perfect to me.

-
Fantastic mate :-* :-*
Second Paul on the colour 8)
It's almost tempting to do something like this for VSF ??? :)
cheers
James
-
Love the cliff face and blast door. Brilliant stuff.
-

Great minds and all that. Now let me think, something Victorian and set on the Moon........
Great work there Colin :-* :-*
-
That cliff face has come up a treat! :-*
Thunderchicken, surely Jules Vernes' 'The Earth to the Moon' would work? Part of your board could be a giant crash landed artillery shell with a couple of Victorian gentlemen stumbling out! ;)
-
Or a Cavorite sphere.
-
Another update.
I am afraid we are not going to make the deadline for BLAM with this. We have been too ambitious we still have loads to do and not enough time :-[
Anyway on to the pics
One of the smaller airlocks, inside.
Outside, hidden door
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/14/1912_16_10_13_12_36_02_2.jpg)
Still got a walkway to do above the door

Other things still to finish

That's a real shame chaps :'(
Use it at McLAM :D
Bring it next year :D
cheers
James
-
Well, I am sorry for you lot. I am still in awe in which speed you crank out your lovely things. I've been working on my CRotA project for over two yeas now.
-
Interior detailing looks great, just like the robot guards :-*
Any thoughts on using real lights as in LEDs or light cables etc?
-
Sorry to hear this won't be appearing at BLAM :'( lt looks amazing though. Cracking piece of work!

100% in agreement.
Gutted, as I was really looking forward to seeing this in 'the flesh'.
:'(
Great progress, though.
That interior is really taking off.
:-* 8) :-*
-
Wow.
This is fantastic work. Way beyond my capabilities.
-
Gamer Mac, you are a VERY BAD MAN for making me look at this! :`
-Todd
-
The interior on this is fantastic, even breath-taking. The giant robot pit is brilliant.
On the other hand, the exterior makes my want to cry. That moon surface is so amazing I now want to chuck the moonscape I made and start all over again. I'll never be able to look at my Space:1999 project again without knowing it can look so much better.
-

I've fancied using lights like this on dioramas for a while now but have no idea how to do it. Anyone know of an idiot's guide to using lighting / where to source it etc.?
-
Thanks guys for all the nice comments. Hopefully we will get this finished for next year.

My brother is the electrician. Maybe try to persuade him that lights are a good idea.
-
Lights!?! Did we not learn our lesson the last time! ;) If you particularly wanted, we could run fibre optics all over the shot, then you really only need one light source, but I think we'd have had to really plan that before hand! The other problem is actually seeing it. In the bright daylight of a certain Woking classroom, you won't really notice them!
I thought it might be worth showing one of our MkI Argonauts. I tried doing some sort of electrical crap on the gun...
-
That is brilliant
-
I tried doing some sort of electrical crap on the gun...
If that's not modesty I don't know what is!
Looks good fella.
-
Great boards, love the rocket, love the robots and most of all I love the the term "electrical crap". :D
Your electrical crap is painted beautifully btw.
J
-
Love the electrical effect Andy. Your model making and painting is exceptional. It's sickening really! lol If I was rich I'd pay you to make stuff all the time!
-
That is some of the best 'crap' that I have seen for a long time.
:-* 8) :-*
-
Really nice crap.
-
The whole project is great to follow. The robot, crap included, looks great
