Title: Muskets & Tomahawks- French & Indian Wars Battle Report
Post by: Iain R on August 18, 2013, 02:25:54 PM
Hi chaps,

Managed to cobble together a few photographs from Wednesday night's clash of Empires in the Canadian wilderness into some sort of battle report! OK, so it's not 20mm and it's not modern, but it makes a nice change to painting all that DPM and drab greens!

Allow me to set the scene...

In the year of our Lord 1756, on the shores of the New World, two mighty powers were at work, carving out new settlements and hegemonies for themselves.  Those two powers, unfortunately, were the Kingdoms of Great Britain and of France, oldest and most bellicose of foes.

And thus it was, on the banks of an unimportant river in what is now Canada, British settlers, with Government coin in hand, were sent to till and work this fertile land, claiming it the name of King George. France, however, had other ideas...

"Charge your firelocks!"

"En Avant!"

Like hungry wolves...

The local Militia take some pot shots

The French tighten the noose...

How will it end? The full report can be found on my blog- http://watchitdry.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/muskets-and-tomahawks-battle-report.html (http://watchitdry.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/muskets-and-tomahawks-battle-report.html)

Cheers

Thanks guys, afraid I can only take credit for the Royal Welch, all other figures were painted by a friend, Dave Stewart (no, not that one), a talented painter who really needs to get on here and show off more of his work!

I did do the trees, swamp and rocky outcrop, though...

@former user- what do you mean? With the Rangers getting chewed by the bear?

You said "Canadian wilderness" and I was joking about Your golf course  lol lol lol

What I mean is I expected a few more trees, the table is nice but it reminds of Nebraska  ;)

:D Lol, I know exactly what you mean now! Yeah we can normally put on a reasonable amount of trees, but unfortunately one of our number who supplies the bulk of the forestry couldn't make it that night! I have loads of trees at home but have run out of bases for them, so we had to settle for a verdant valley look...

Cheers

Great report. Bears seem to have a habit of eating my troops too.

Cheers Dave, welcome aboard

Folnjir, it certainly adds to the fun of it! I have mooted the idea that once we get a suitable bear model, we could use an artillery scatter dice and a D6 to have it move randomly around the table, charging anything it comes within 6" of, once the appropriate card has been drawn and it's in play...

Ta
Iain.
