Im looking for a handful of slightly ridiculous sci-fi sailor models, something like the guys in The Fifth Element or a robot dressed as Popeye or something. Short trousers preferred but not a requirement.
Im fine with using some suitable pulp figures or whatever and adding a couple of sci-accoutrements, but if there are dedicated future sailor models out there then I would like to see them too. Do any of you know of anything?
Possibly I should have put this in another section I suppose, but I wasnt sure what one to be honest.
Any takers?

Not a robot, but I guess you could paint the skin in a suitably metal- looking colour and add some rivets/ panel lines: http://www.slapminis.com/skipper-fred-138-p.asp
These Pulp Figures' ones don't carry guns. No shorts though. http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/143
Less immediately sailory looking, but I guess the right colours could change that:

You could also use the dwarf sized versions:

Those are the sort of thing that I am looking for :) I am using other figures for the officers (including the Hasslefree Grymn that you suggested) so its the regular sailors that I am after. Are there any manufacturers that make models like that that are armed?

With a bit of work these could do. At least they are in shorts and multiposed

There's some armed ones as well, with webbing (I think that's what you call it in English anyways): http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/193

Im not a military uniform expert, but I think that "webbing" is the correct term in that context :)
Those models are close enough for what I am looking for :)
Order placed with pulpfigures.com. Thanks for your help everyone!

You mean like these?
Of course.
Calling the thread "cyborg sea-dogs" would have been too cryptic.

I think your easiest option would be head swaps. I know I used some of the Gripping Beast WW1 naval heads on my VBCW miniatures and they worked a treat, must be best option then you can use whatever figures you fancy

That's exactly what I thought! lol

That is a good idea Lowtardog, but I have bought this Pulp pack (http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/193) already now,so I will work with that.
My knowledge of non- sci-fi miniatures ranges is very limited, hence this thread. If I had known that suitable sailor heads were available then that would have opened up a few more options, but the full uniform look on the Pulp figures has its own appeal anyway. I am sure that sci-fi-ing them up a bit will work out fine :)

I have had all thirty words of the song going around in my head since I started the thread :)

Just a quick note to say that the order of sailors that I placed with Bob Murchs Pulp Figures last Monday arrived this morning.
Thats Canada to rural Ireland in five days. Credit where credit is due, I think that might be a record for my transactions :)
