I'd like to give this a try and I was wondering how to go about joining the league?

Unfortunately, you have just missed the cutoff for this season. :'( The rules say that you can enter any time until the end of Round 5, after which the contestants are fixed for that season. This is because you have to cut off participation at some point.
But! Not to despair! We've had two highly successful seasons and there is every reason to think we will have another.

As you might (or might not) know there are ten rounds, and Prof, who spends hours of time organising this, presents the week's entries on Monday (any minute now! :) ) The cutoff, as Pete said, is midway, or round five, so the last 5 rounds (round 7 is the one about to be presented) are only open to people who submitted at least one entry in any one of the first five rounds.
Still, as Pete (again) said, I'm certain there will be League no. 3 in the future :)

of course, coming autumn, I guess :)

do you run with the same submission or is it different groups each round or to a theme?

yes, always, all regular members of the forum are able to vote and are welcome to do it :)
-
Voting done. Some really hard choices to make !

First, check your sanity in at the door.

Evening
Am new to the forum but am keen to join. Is it just a question of waiting for the current season to end then signing up?
Will be getting some practice in, in the mean time.
Thanks
Phil

Unfortunately, since the good Prof is on a seemingly unending quest in the East, it will take some more months before we get a new season of the league rolling. However, it will be properly announced then. Additionally, you can just enter in any of the first five rounds (but may only enter in subsequent rounds if you already placed an entry in rounds 1-5). No need for a formal sign-up.

We're in between seasons currently, mate. Not sure when the next one will be, as Alex (our Glorious Leader) currently doesn't have regular internet access, due to being on an extended secret James Bond-type mission in Russia (well, a business trip or something).
I'm sure when the time comes there will be announcements aplenty.
By the way, did you ever finish building that house out in the desert?
Edit: I was too slow! And welcome to the LAF!

Thanks for that Gents and impressed with the forum.

Have you finished that bungalow yet?

Any further word on Season 3?

Any further word on Season 3?
I was about to ask the same question, then I saw this.
My personal dilemma is, being a slow painter, I have started painting a group that would qualify for LPL-3. If the League were going to start soon...ish I would hold the eventual photos back. If not starting for many months, I would post as soon as complete. ???
As I know the Professor is busy with work I'm reluctant to bother him direct.
-
I did volunteer last summer to administer a season of the LPL, to which the Prof said yes please.
Truthfully though, I don't think he's had time or access to do anything much at all from where he is (out in the real back of beyond!)
As things stand, I don't have the necessary permissions to run it, and I'd rather not run an 'on the fly' version when the organisation of the first two seasons was so impeccable.
Watch this space I guess... :)
-
Isn't Knoxville an administrator? Maybe he can give you the permissions you need.
If there's going to be a LPL3 I'll hold on to my pictures for just a while longer.
-
I'm withholding pics as well. If someone doesn't get an LPL going soon pictures of painted minis will dry up altogether around here. :)
-
You´re just not productive enough! ;)
Coincidentally, I talked to the Prof on Saturday on the topic, and without wanting to give away too much, he´s still behind the good Captain running it, just has to figure out how to properly organise all the authorisations and access protocols. From what he told me, I´d expect something in the near future.
-
All sounds good.
I dont hold anything back as I like to adhere to what I thoght was the original idea of painting something each round. Its a great motivator even if real life throws a lot of spanners in the works at times.
-
I'm new to the site but have lurked around here many times and I am looking forward to a "Season 3" compatition to enter! My hats off to all the past competitors and thank you all for the inspiring work done!
-
I thought about holding back mini's... but it just doesn't feel sporting, given the spirit of the competition.
Knowing that someone has a whole leagues worth of mini's already prepared means I'll probably sit the next one out. :?
-
Well, I'm holding back minis more in theory than practice. I so rarely paint that I've only now almost got my first anticipated five-man team done. However, I have no intention of showing them. Yup, I'm saving them for the competition. :)
I'll add that to my way of thinking part of the spirit of the competition is to show off new paintjobs that no one's seen. So hopefully I'm not digressing too far from the intention of the competition.
