Title: Is this the place a "Help - how do I paint this....!?" topic should be posted?

The subject title sums it up. I'm trying to paint a black and white dog and it looks poor - even worse than my usual efforts. so, is this where I can seek the help of the brilliant brush wielders? If not, where?

With much embarrassment, I'll post a pic when I know where it should go.
