as the title mentions I am wanting some basic Star Wars skirmish rules that I can use with about 8 to 16 miniatures per side and that won't take long to play. Mainly aiming to play this with my kids.
I am wanting to use characters from A New hope onwards [eg Episode 4 to 6]
any one got any ideas, rule sets, links, sites, etc let me know
Thx for any and all help given..

It's a hasbro mandalorian shuttle. Works well with 28mm, it's one of Col Bagshot's vehicles.
Very nice and obviously mandalorian.

well 6 boobs is three more than the triple breasted whore of eroticon 6 and she was never short of a date.
of course there is those that think more than you have hands for is a waste. ba boom.
I do have all the old starwars minis rules and expansions I want to shift as well but its too complex for kids.
I'd snap them up mate but no funds at the moment, I'll drop you a line if I work some cash free.

I'm really partial to West End Games Star Wars Miniatures Battles if you can find them. Also Blasters & Bulkheads (or is it Bulkheads & Blasters?).
-
Blasters & Bulkheads is basically Star Wars minus the intellectual property. It has laser swords and not-The Force and everything.

I have the SuperSystem3 and Delve Goal System both from Four-colorstudios
where would I be able to get a copy of Blasters and Bulkheads?
if it plays similar to the others then the kids should be able to pick it up.
thx Tom Reed and PatrickWR... will see if I can find both and compare them..
i found a copy of WEG and OMG its not for kids as Scurv mentioned.
Currently waiting for approval on the shockforce/the warengine Yahoo site. seems only place where I can get a copy of the rules.
Still looking for a copy of the Blasters and Bulkheads rules.

ok after looking into this for a bit now I am thinking I might try and make a Mod for the Incursion board game, and see how it goes after I get it crossed over to the SW theme I might see how the SoTR rules could handle being modified to SW theme.
any one with Incursion and SoTR back ground keen to help?

out of interest, what makes it obviously Mandalorian?

Angles, shapes, lozange usage and the fact that it's a mandalorian shuttle. ;)

Blasters and Bulkheads rules from Wargame Downloads (http://www.wargamedownloads.com/item.php?item=983)
You get a colour version and a print friendly(ish) version - the cover uses a lot of ink :(

not seen any Mandalorian stuff, so couldn't have said... looking at pics, it just seems to be trying to hard to have a hint of Slave 1 about it...

I have Delve Goal System and SuperSystem3 and still getting my head around how they work. For this game I want something different to play for the kids.
I have the Incursion game coming next year so wanted to get the kids playing that system now so hence the Star Wars Incursion idea came about...

Ok if you watch the clone wars dvds and extras you see a huge amount of background on mandalore the shapes used and inspiration taken from fett's armour. Although you also find out that Fett is..... spoiler alert. ; )

Are the Wizards of the Coast rules not an option? They seem ideal for playing with kids, since the figures are durable and the rules are (based on the one game I had) basically simplified D20, minus all the roleplaying aspects.
I think the game is normally played on a grid, but converting distances from squares to inches should work fine, and if you don't like the plastic pre paints you cold use different figures and just the rules & profiles.
-
I'll have a look and see if I can find the rules.
My order of West End Games Star Wars minis arrived the other day will start painting them pretty soon.
I got:
Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia
Han Solo
Yoda
Obi-Wan
R2-D2
C-3PO
Darth Vader
Emperor
Bobba Fett
Royal Guard [x2]
Imperial Officer
Stormtrooper E-11 Blaster [x8]
Stormtrooper DLT-20A blaster rifle [x1]
Stromtrooper DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle [x1]
Will be getting some more in a month or two.
Cheers

Played Star Wars with my son using LOTR rules slightly modded. Made all shooting stuff more effective. Seemed to work okay. We haven't quite worked out force powers yet.

I tried to find a cheap copy of the LoTR rule book since I don't own it and its not cheap [go figure its GW].. so that was a no go for me..
plus it goes against my religion... the Cult of do not buy GW stuff.

Empire of the dead is pretty much the same system. But you can buy the early rules sets for pennys. (When they did a boxed game per film release they had their own rulebook, look for the return of the King one)

My children have a selection of Lego like Star Wars characters that came in Kinder Surprise eggs. I suspect they are about 28mm tall albeit a little portly and you get the chocolate and a plastic egg thrown in free. :D

Col Bagshot and I used Lotr as a core for our Legends of the Force rules. jedi/sith/force powers all sorted.
Ian has the current version post play testing last month. I will get round to posting the battle reports up when I've got rid of this nurgle's rot. Shoot him a pm.

I've used them with my daughter. The fact that the values are on the cards greatly reduces the mount of remembering.
We did avoid most of the special powers though, as they distort things quite quickly.

You need FUBAR by my good mate Craig, They are FREE very easy to play and they have star wars supplements.
