Title: The Interwar Vehicle Wish List
Post by: Arlequín on October 24, 2013, 04:12:14 PM
As we have had a few threads appear over time, asking for particular, if somewhat obscure vehicles and that we do have the odd 'resin baron' about, I thought it might be good to have a thread just for things we would like to see and from which prospective manufacturers could take ideas and perhaps some idea of numbers who want them from.

Brief Rules:

1) It has to be a real vehicle, not necessarily anything more than a prototype, but there do have to be photos and/or plans etc. for someone to work off. It would be great if you could actually include a photo along with your suggestion too.

2) It can be any scale, but clearly identify which scale you are interested in.

3) Try and include a small amount of description (made by, wars used in etc). It helps people research the vehicle if they choose to have a go at it.

4) It must not already be in production in the scale requested. Mistakes are inevitable though, so where there is one available to buy, I'll edit the post to indicate this. If a suggestion is posted and you know where there is one available, don't hesitate to point this out!

If people want, I'll happily make this a sticky.

Probably not what you're after, but I'd like to see more interwar folk on bicycles - they were pretty much ubiquitous, but apart from 1st corps WW1 minis and Resistance types, no-one does them to my knowledge.

The same could be said for motorbikes.

Light Tank Mark II, Indian pattern. Iconic British light tank saw service on the NW Frontier. Just the ticket for for a good Bugles and a Tiger game. I think Company B had one planned but I'm not sure of its status.

A Birch gun. The world's first SP AA/AT gun mounted on a Vickers Medium tank chassis. Would go a treat with the Copplestone (ex HLBS) Vickers Mediums.

T-19, The first indigenous Soviet tank and one that saw action against the Chinese in the late 1920s. They were still in use as pill boxes at the German invasion of the USSR in 1941. Whilst we are at it, the T-24, the medium counterpart to the T-19 for some what if games.

Fiat 3000, Yes I know it's an an easy convert from an FT-17 but why not, they saw a decent amount of service.

Oh and a Strindsvagen L-60 so that some day I can play the 1965 Invasion of the Dominican Republic and so that our Swedish friends can crunch through barns with somewhat more impressive tanks.

(Mod) Hope you don't mind me dropping this in here.  :D

They're technically vehicles... so why not?  :)

Motorcycles in particular are very poorly served unless they are German ones and as we know, Triumphs are better.  ;)

A briliant idea  :)

I try to make myself useful occasionally.  :)

Poland had a really cool TKS tankette.  Lots of character.

http://home.comcast.net/~storto10/tk7.jpg

There's one in about 20mm size but I'd really like to see a larger one, ideally in 1/48 or at least 1/56 (28mm).  I prefer the 1/48 because the bigger, bulkier minis tend to come out more that size.

I'd like to be able to put any mini's head or shoulders poking out of the hatch.  Cannot do that with the smaller, existing one (trust me, I've tried).

Cool page about it: http://derela.republika.pl/tk.htm

I am a fan of seeing the Strindsvagen L-60, and an M-1 combat car.

I'm still pining for a Skoda PA II Zelva, preferably in 1:48 or 1:56.  A classic in interwar modernist design.

I'm pretty sure that there are TKS tankettes available already: IIRC Black Tree Design does one as do Warlord Games (two variants). So as wishes go, yours has already been granted. :)

Bolt Action had one in 1:56th. I don't know if Warlord still sell it (they continually take stuff off the list to "re-master" it).

By 're-master', do you mean; take it away, get someone else to make a similar model and then put it back up for sale hoping nobody remembers that the original was better?

;)

I have Bolt Action's.  It could be improved and enlarged - a lot.

Warlord makes one I think.

Warlord makes one I think.

AFAIK They make the Mk.VI (B&C), the Mk.II looks like this:

The Indian Pattern was a little different, but I didn't have a pic of one of those to hand.

Light Tank Mk II India pattern (Mk II B). The basic difference is a small non rotating cupola atop the turret.

Of course the best photo of a Mk II is the of a standard version with unusual additions. This looks like a Top Gear project gone wrong ( right?)

Then you have the Mk IV India Pattern

Being cute and in action in Waziristan.

I'd like a Belgian T13 tank destroyer.
They were pretty numerous in 1940 (about 340 of them) As they were based on a British Carden Lloyd tractor
they could turn up in VBCW. They were also briefly used by SS units (repainted in panzer grey)

I think there is one in 15mm, as far as i know nothing in 20mm (early war makes a mark VI version of which only 6 were made)
I think Ian Crouch made a green for a 28mm version

Retrokit made one in 20mm / 1/72

Splendid Thread...and I will be watching this.  How about a WW2 and Cold war one too?

If you mosey over to our site, you can see what's been modeled already.  But these small tankettes are fun to do.

India pattern...yes.  I should get on that one...

Cold War I can do, but WW2 is Tank Girl territory and she's not a woman to be crossed, especially as it's the sort of thread that potentially requires a fair bit of moderator input to keep things clear and usable. The member input for WW2 is potentially massive too.  :)

For a Cold War list, it's actually easier to say what has been made, which we've started to do. I say we, Carlos is doing it and I'm just polishing the brass work.  ;)

I'll start it over the weekend though, but it's likely to keep you busy for a few years to come Brent.  :D

I thought all I was doing was metaphorically polishing my helmet. :D

I should update that thread before I go but the laptop is in the shop for repairs engendered by my four year old and everything is harder on this apllety tablety thing.

Be prepared for a truly long and arcane wish list should we go Cold War.

Egad!   Well, I don't like giving out out we have in mind, since I have no idea when a specific model will release.  But if the new moderns do ok once they come out, the sky is the limit.  We literally can pump out a master model in a week or two, ready to cast.  It's quite scary.

Now, if anyone will buy it is another story.

I do have an affinity for the interwar stuff though, as it's smaller, and does not cause our buddies 3D printer to destroy itself as much as the larger models do.  I also tend to get my hands dirty with plastic card when it comes to interwar.

I know no one is ever going to do a 1/56 version of this monster, but this is a wish list and this is my wish:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_2000

Of course those lucky guys who do 1/72 have their chance:

http://landships.activeboard.com/t38846661/172-fiat-2000/?page=1&sort=newestFirst

And I think there is also a 1/35 version, if I remember correctly. We lesser beings of 1/56 credo have no luck, though
