I usually don't make posts with just a few pictures and then a link to my blog, but this time there is really a wall of text and loads of images on my blog.
So if you want to see more of this:

Shark's mouths. Love it. :-*
-
Beakie goodness! :-*
-
Thanks guys.
-
I find this utterly inspiring. Great stuff :).
-
Great stuff. :D
Agree about the sharks mouths. Brilliant.
-
Lovely work, love all the little touches like the different helmet stripes, and the checkerwork.
(although having started playing during 2nd edition I do feel proper blood angels should be orange)
-
The old beakies are my favourite Marines. Great work. Love the terrain too.
-
I like the marines enough to look past my biggest pet peeve in all of miniature wargaming (black bases). Awesome stuff.
-
That's a lovely set of Beakies! I've got about 60 or so of those chaps in my historic pile I need to do something with, and that's certainly set a standard.
By way of a digression, I bought the Space Marine paint set back in the day - the one where the Blood Angel paints were Terracotta and Blood Angel Orange - a suggestion that really didn't work, paint scheme-wise. Still, that said, all of the paints are still usable some 20 years later. :)
-
Lovely RT goodies :D
cheers

Shark mouths!
Beakies!
Warning chevrons on close combat weapons!
I LOVE IT
Excellent work- the Blood Angels were the first chapter I really got into and you've done them proud, to the extent that you're making me re-think my paint schemes for my little guys.
The yellow furniture on the storm bolters is especially cool.

Sooo late eighties, I can almost hear Def Leppard and Roxette when I look at that photo lol
Cool stuff! I dont recognise the psyker in the middle left. I am assuming that its an old Citadel, right?
-
Thanks for all the comments :)
I have chosen to give the shark mouths to the assault marines, since they need to look a bit more dangerous.
I was inspired from looking at a couple of old pictures. Especially this one:
The Flesh Tearers Jaws of Doom assault squad.
And besides the black stripes on the helmets of my Blood Angels, I guess they just as well could be Flesh Tearers. I don't count on doing any Death Company or such anyway. If I am goinf to play any 40K verseion beyond RT I will probably just play these marines as vanilla marines anyway (or mix units as I please with the Angels of Death codex 2nd edition, but no Death Company).

I can almost guarentee you that I have been listening to Def Leppard and Roxette at some point whle painting these... on vinyl of course ;) hahaha
The psyker is from the old Adventurers range. Apparently she was originally supposed to be a civilian in distress.

awesome stuff man! love the buildings too!
-

lol
The only thing that I can imagine myself listening to either of those bands on is heavy medication ;)

That image is from Warhammer Seige IIRC. The illustrations and photos in that book are fun, with a lot of them being quite goofy. I recently showed that book to a local 40k player who was born in 1990. He was very amused. The mullets and sleeveless t-shirts in particular. He couldnt believe what he was seeing lol

Im not familiar with the figure :?

Thanks Jonas, I recognise her now.
That page has a lot of RT goodness that I would like to get my hands on. Lovely.
One ugly mother f***er...
Maybe, but lipstick painted on miniature top lips pretty much inevitably doesnt do figures any favours.
-
Sometimes I think it is amazing to see the difference on the same miniatures from catalogue/WD pages to how they actually look.
Makes me feel a little better about my painting skills lol

Lovely. I really like the RT-era rank insignia and helmet-stripes. :-*
-
Thanks. I hope to some day give them all their chapter badges too. But for now it is a future project
-
Great work, Jonas.
:-* :-*
This thread really does take me back to 1987..... 8)

They are psychos, which is why they get arrested by the field police ;)

Ohhh beakies, they look great (but being beakies, that's mandatory) ! The chainswords are modern ones though no?
Looking at that WD add, it really strikes me how ahead of their time GW minis were back then... they could be released now, 25 years later, and they'd still look awesome.
Thanks for the nostalgia trip ;) I still see myself, age 12, looking at the marines box and wishing i could buy it...
-
Nice Bolt Thrower background reference, on top of the rest: In battle, there's no law (what an anthem for wargamers ...) ;)

Yes, the chainswords are modern, I use those from Imperial Guard, they size up better than the ones from modern Marines.

Thanks, I chose a lot of old school stuff for posters to put on the walls of my buildings. :)

Nice work! 8)

I think an 'Awesomesauce' is appropriate here 8) 8) 8)

Thanks guys.

RT essence, undiluted. 100% pure.
Fantastic stuff
-
lovely
-
:-* Love the Field police, they're on the list of marines I want to paint myself if I ever get around to painting more marines
-
Cool burger Jonas!!! 8)
-
Thanks all :)
-
Really cool, Jonas, this makes me paint field police too!!
-
lovely, I'm a BA fan too, my beakies (the ones that have seen paint) are BA - and before any of the horrible different helmet colours, I much prefer the old school look and rank/squad markings. Lovely work. - I've got a field police model painted up too :D
time to dig out all the RT era stuff I've been collecting and see what I have, then start painting it. I know I have an unbuilt box of plastic IG to do for starters :o
-
My epic blood angels have helmet colours, but not my 40K sized. I think it looks good on the little guys, but I wouldn't do it in 40K scale.
