Austin armoured car from Sloppy Jalopy.
At 15.00 GBP, quite expensive I think for what you get.
The definition on the main resin body of the vehicle is poor in places, there are 'bubble holes' in the resin, and the metal components took a lot of filing and drilling to make fit - especially the axles and wheels. :(
The end product is looking good now I'm painting it - but on the basis of this particular kit, I'm not sure I'd recommend Sloppy Jalopy, although I know they are very popular here with Back-of-Beyonders...
-
Prof,
you have some cars there which could be of use for me either. But - excuse my humble ignorance! - who's Jules? ???

-

-
4 rackham at43 walkers, they are superb!!
-
3 Bigfoot-style truck wheels. Er... if vehicle bits count, that is. ::)
Found in a dumped broken toy and destined for - well, dunno yet.
-
Bought six die-cast burago-cars yesterday (nominally 1:43, but they're probably closer to 1:48) for 80 DKR (about €10) :
3 Italian police cars (Lamborghinis) for fututistic cops...
1 red Mini with Union Jack on the roof
and 2 more indistinct cars that I do not recall.....
EDIT: Those were a Volvo and a BMW
-
4 wondefuls kits from The HLBS recasts : 2 Schneiders CA, 1 Charron and 1 Laffly-White armoured cars.

Eight long-out-of-production Matchbox Models of Yesteryear - three cars, four trucks/vans.
They're slightly oversized for 28mm, really - especially noticable with the vans, which are quite tall. Still, they're nice models.
Purchased online, but not on EvilBay, and therefore purchased for about half the going EvilBay price!
Some of them are going under the paintbrush (hear the collectors gasp in horror!) but most will stay exactly as they are.

:-* Armored Train! :-* Armored Train! :-* Armored Train! :-*
The HLBS train arrived today. Beautiful!
-
This one a couple of days ago, off Ebay...
Perfectly scaled for 28 mm, I think
Needs some paint... The red passenger car will make a fine cargo car when I get the 'windows' covered (the post robbers will find it tempting, I think).
There's also an oil tank car, but it's too modern for Old West, which I intend this for. Might be useful for Pulp, though ;)
The set includes a lot of tracks, and a station that is totally out of scale with the train, but all in all I'm satisfied with this purchase.
-
I Need one of those old west trains... :-*
-
I got a very similar one, both of which I suspect are early versions of the Fastlane Western Express which pops up in Toys R Us from time to time. I think the carriages other than the loco are a fraction small (having said that, the train is a fraction large) but it can be made into something useful. A friend is contemplating converting it to a Russian Armoured Train for BoB or CLA.

Yep, but remember it's for gaming, not railroad modelling ;) The carriages are probably also too short to be accurate, but overall the train will fit my purposes very well.
I considered a paper model from RPGnow to go with my Whitewash City models, but this solution is so much nicer :D
-
British Warrior APC (AFV?) from TAG, looks very nice in the box, great resin cast =)
-
2 1/55 steam trains, one with a carriage and one with a tender (I think thats what the small coal cart is called), £2.99 each from B&M, cheap shop in the UK! A mega blocks boat, same size as the PotC ones and a Magisterium Carriage from The Golden Compass from TK Maxx.
-
A big plastic train set from Toys 'r us. I know it has been on sale before in other countries, but never managed to find it in the Netherlands, but now it's here.
Nice scale and useable for (weird) wild west games.
12 euro for the entire thing, but sadly can't find pictures of it on the internet (will try to make some on demand though :P)

The truck with the built-in skis and treads is great.

The truck with the built-in skis and treads is great.
I'm pleased with that one - well, with all of them actually - these are the ones I mentioned somewhere as being the cause of dilemma: to keep as collectors' items or to paint.
You'll notice the scale varies, especially for Rocket.
The ZIL-115 Soviet limo is one I wouldn't like to mess around with; the good news is it's the one which can be used as is, looking good without any touching up. It's surprisingly large, has four opening doors besides the bonnet and the luggage boot, and is purportedly 1:43 scale - and looks like they got it right too. The model was made in the USSR. It looks ok next to 28mm scale models.
Here's where to get one - quite expensive!

Tell me about it... Dom där små jävlarna are simply not to be found at Toys'r'us in Sweden.
-
Hammer, i saw one at my local toys'r'us a year or so ago,, 600 SEK (about 60€), i passed on that o_o
-
Is that the Fastlane Western Express?
no, it's the orient express this time, 1 locomotive that produces steam and noise and sadly drives a bit too fast ;D
a coal wagon and two passenger cars finish the set. All in all a good purchase, but a bit too little track for my feeling, so I'll just have to buy a 2nd set. The extra locomotive and so on can alway be put to use somewhere

Could I ask you for a pic - it sounds like just the right one for Pulp ? :)

No problem, I was already trying to find one on the web, but can't find it.
I'll try to take a picture at home tonight

Thanks, defiitely from the same manufacturer as my Old West train...same tracks and all... must keep a lookout for that one...
One thing I do not get, though, is the wheel-thing. Why do they make as well the working wheels and the fake wheels on the carriages...?? ??? ::)
-
Got a sloppy jalopy BRDM2 from northstar today,
looks nice :)
-
after weeks of trying (and being a little tight on the bidding) I finally got a Matchbox Rolls Royce armoured car from ebay today.

yes that model but a little cheaper- not much though

Picked up my RCW train from Lon at the Post Office today! :-* 8 days from shipment. Not bad. No duty, even better! lol
Casting isn't bad, just a little cleanup on the resin. Metal wheels will be a bit more work. Spokes, you see! ::) Engine is quite a hunk o' resin, mostly solid but partly hollow underneath for mounting the trucks and stuff. Got to pick up some individual rails and ties now, and then figure out how I'm going to have it displayed, especially since there are at least two more cars to come. It's for a diorama setting, rather than for gaming. Sorry, guys! :D
My train is as shown, except for the various loads.
-
Wow, that looks cool. I definetly have to win in the lottery...

Latest vehicles here, a pair of 1:72 Huey's from Italeri for my 20mm Vietnam project.

I've got a pair of 1:48 Hueys from Revell. I was going to go use 28s for my Nam project, but when I found the super cheap plastics I jumped over to 20mm.

A pal of mine has a couple of Corgi Hueys and Cobras. I think they are 1:48 or close to it.
-
A 1:50, I think, scale Eurocopter from Tesco, (a UK supermarket chain).

Just got a lovely package of Old Crow APCs. :-*
Can't stop, off to the loft!

2 Vabis Post Vans

Received an order from quarter kit:
3 excellent 1/50 scale solido diecast trucks:
Got this French/German staff car too, but won't keep it as it's too different in size from the tamiya one I already have (it's 1/43 instead of 1/50-1/48). :(
(http://wk.frothersunite.com/misc/pics/solido1.jpg)
And finally, a great Hasegawa 1/48 kit with a Japanese truck and car: :D

Be sure to read this interesting article (http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/preww2/bertor3c.htm) about this model kit. ;)
-
Now, I don't want anybody to go into shock, but, I bought this model as a model. It's not for use with any of my 28mm's. I'm one of those guys who cannot mix scales when I build a diorama or vignette. I've been modelling for 50 years ( :o ) and it's locked in my brain - 1/48 is too large to mix with 28mm (1/56), by about 20%. However, I know there are plenty of you who are not so rigid and might be interested. It's a beautiful kit and can also be built civilian.

I haven't bought the Hasegawa kit shown below yet but I'm on the lookout!

And 16x JB M113 kits..... lol

A TRAIN, a Classic Express set !!!!!
After many moonths of looking for one of the goldlok trains i finally found one in the second hand shop across the street for £3
It's not a genuine goldlok set tho but a toy state one, it looks just like the fastlane/goldlok ones tho :-*
-
Lucky bastard. I've been looking for that set for some time now.
-
So hard to find=(
i just picked it up because i was bored without realising what it was too, held it in front of me and almost shouted when i saw what i held in my hands :D
If they'd had more i would have got several, i only need one myself but i know there's lots of people that want them..
think i'm gonna construct a cart or two extra for it tho:)

Found a lovely US army truck(dunno what kind, just that it was in service around the time of the Korean war) of sorts in the dollar store for, well, a dollar. It's more 30mm scale but it doesn't look too big to just ignore. Wanted to give it a different set of wheels and remove some unnecessary height. Pics eventually once I get off my lazy arse and rig up an axle and dig up some tyres...

Two Model T ford light patrol cars, one model T ford tender and one model T ford ambulance from Brigade Games.

My local ToyWorld had a 20% off sale so I bought some Siku vehicles . I bought some of the cheaper sets as I really could'nt justify the extra cost of the Fire Engines etc as much as I wanted to buy them. :'(
2108 Ambulance
2543 Car with Motorboat
2313 Police Van
2936 Road sweeper
I also bought a Tamiya Volkwagen Car (Beetle).
-
Pictures, please, Dan! 8)
I'm constantly on the lookout for some modern ambulances, fire engines, trucks, busses, etc.... (at a reasonable price) for my Future Wars, Zombie-games, you get the picture ;)

Hi , I'm sorry I'm going overseas in the morning so wont have time to photograph anything.
They make some very nice models in 1/50th or 1/55th . I've seen the same model advertised in both scales ::) . I had a 1/64th looking car with a 1/55th scale boat in the same box. :o
Heres a link to the site which is not easy to follow .
http://www.siku.de/de/sortiment.html
And another site with some of the whole range mixed together.
http://www.toysnyc.com/home.php?cat=204&sort=productcode&sort_direction=0&page=2
Hope that helps. :)
EDIT , sorry I had another look at the second site and think some of the scales are way off . The Hummer for instance would be more like 1/76th or smaller , not the 1/50th they are saying it is.
They should hopefully be on the shelf in Europe though , so you can eyeball them for yourself.

Thanks! :)

Got this from uti_long_smile - anyone have an idea how/where to place the boiler/smokestack/hatch?

I've got this pic with the engine assembled, not a brilliant angle but it may help.
I think it's clear thet the smoke stack goes on the rectangle at the back of the boiler.
-
Ah, yes, that seems to be it - and the hatch if for feeding the boiler with coal 8)
Thanks!

Just arrived today - two of Company B's Model T "kits", with which I shall proceed to place last in their contest. Someone has to. :)
Also a miscellanea of Company B bits, most for the contest and some to salt my bits box with interesting stuff.
Anyone got a picture of the underside of one of these Model Ts? (or, heck, the underside of a real Model T?) I am not at all sure which bits go where to model the various undercarriage parts...

Nice one... I'd like, say, a squadron of those in 28 mm scale... ;D
-
7 inches high, they're dirt cheap on ebay ($15)

7" is a bit big for 28 mm - at least for making squadrons.... but a single giant mech.... hmmmm.... o_o

You can also get them in 1/6 lol

OOh, i had missed that :o
Got another T62 from chieftain models today, :-*

Ooops , sorry had not checked back here .
The Car came with the figures , the tallest figure is very tall but could be cutdown to 28mm , the other two figures are close enough . Thats $20 New Zealand by the way . May have got it cheaper elsewhere but it was in the shop tempting me . :-*
The bikes are actually cheaper at home as I picked up a couple more for less than 80 baht . Allthough all versions dont seem to be available at the same time.
-
They are probably 1/50. I've seen some others in the range that come with civilian minis, so might make some useful additions for the period.

I'm wondering whether instead of a full repaint, I could just highlight and weather them and then give the whole a coat of matt or semi-gloss varnish to get rid of the toy look. Any ideas?

Just ordered Rolls Royce, and Japanese type 97 and Sunida armored cars from All Fronts Armor. Will forward picturs upon receipt. They are resin 1:48 scale. They are in their WWII line but I intend to use them for WWI or 20s action.

A Hasegawa 1/48 ISUZU TX40 FUEL TRUCK.

Kitech M1A1 abrams, will probably end up as a wreck :'(

4 1/56 scale `32 Ford Model A coupes. Two are hot rodded and need repainted, the other two are perfect including white wall tires and a white wall spare on back.

I received three 1/56 Chieftain Models T-72's today. It took about one month for them to arrive here in the USA, but they are worth the wait! I was impressed how clean the casting are. I haven't had a chance to build one yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so. I checked the exchange rate again today, US$1.48 to the pound. I might have to order a few more things once I get a few more paychecks in the bank.
-
They are well worth the price, i have three aswell bob :)

5 new bikes from Black Cat Bases. Kindly sent to me after I mentioned I was looking for some in my Geezers thread.

Which reminds me that I have to get some of my Black Cat pirates painted, so I can order some more.... and some Lost and Strange...
It seems that everyone is churning out great new minis at a tremendous rate these days...... my wallet cannot cope... >:( ;)

I picked these toys up a while ago. They are very nice and paint up well I am using them for my Quar army but they can be used for any WWI,Pulp Gangsters etc...

You b*st*rd! ;) Been looking ALL over toy stores to find something like that; no luck....
Want that!
-
I found this one on eBay for a few pounds. The only ones I can find now are way more expensive.
The model is from Cararama, from the series 210ND:
Maybe this shop (http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/974_1_1250284.html) has one left (not sure, because I don't really understand their system).
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Jase
-
Hmm, thanks, I don't quite understand the system, either... Maybe I should try ordering, and see what happens....
-
siku makes one aswell (1/50), usually available cheap :)
-
Sounds like a possibility, too. Thing is, with those toy vehicles, I like to have them in hand before buying. I've seen packs with different vehicles, where scale was all over the place in the same set....
-
if you want i can take a snap with the Siku one?

Vickers Tank from Copplestone . I dont think I've seen this mentioned in any of the BUF/ECW3 threads ???
-
Rob's got a couple of Vickers Mediums he uses for the 1938 stuff. I managed to get one knocked out by a milk churn full of dynamite using it in the Penarth game. They're a nice model.
My big vehicle purchase recently was 11 assorted inter-war diecast cars and trucks at the annual New Years Day collectors market in town for less than £1 a piece. One of the trucks has been painted up for my 1938 TA unit and given a driver I picked up at Penarth. There's another that'd do as it is if I can get rid of the "Cornwall Home Guard" decals it's got on it.
The cars are a bit too bright at the moment and in need of a paint job but at what I paid for them I'm not complaining.
-
Here's one that came out of left field! Just wish they'd do it in a larger scale.

Do you do 54mm/1:35th scale wargaming? Apart from that, lovely!
-
The Ironclad Miniatures steam tank I ordered from them at the York show arrived today! Hurrah! :)
But there is a piece missing. Boo! :(
I've emailed them about it already so they should be able to sort it out, but I'd been looking forward to getting it for nearly a fortnight and now I'm all sad.

That's a beauty. 1/48 works quite well.

Steam 4, the armoured car with the lovely big wheels. It really is a lovely little kit, too.
Of course, now I have one, I realise it's not quite big enough... ::)

No, it'd just go well with my other military models in 1/35. Never enough softskins.

I'd love to see a photo of the Cornwall Home Guard vehicle , it sounds like I could use it with my Home Guard which is where the Vickers is going to be used.
-
I've got to try to get some decent photos of my 1938 TA stuff once it's finished (almost there). I tried some on the corner of the Penarth game but they're mostly crap I'm afraid!
Will include the Home Guard truck. It's part of a diecast 3 vehicles "military" set that someone did that I picked up cheap on New Years Day. The other vehicles are a NAAFI tea wagon and an auxilliary fire engine. I also got an "RAF" set at the same time - a fuel truck, a barrage balloon tender and a "fitters" wagon. The latter being the same vehicle as the fire engine (complete with ladder) in RAF colours instead of grey.
-
Big Martin , I think I know the pack your talking about but it always seems expensive whenever I've seen it on sale on Ebay or similar. :-[
I found some transport for my Elvis Impersonator, its a Ford rather than a Cadilac but its the right colour . Made by Yat Ming $13NZ .
I also found a Fire Engine made by Burago in 1/50th scale. It cost $20NZ , so quite cheap.

Great car for "Elvis" Dan :)
I got a M24 Chaffee from S&S today,. the cutest little tank i've ever seen lol

I bought a couple of Siku Tractors and trailers today . I'm going to uparmour the cabs and use them for moving the loot for my scavengers . I will take some photos later.

Its a Corgi Classics, London Transport AEC Routemaster. RM5 Set. 35001. 40th Anniversary (issued in 1995)
I would say its nominally 1/43 but is a bit smaller than the 1/43 cars I have.
It actually fits in with the miniatures rather well.
I'll get you, Butler! lol
-
That looks just the ticket.
Marvellous :)
-
Thanks for the info. That Routemaster looks excellent
(I think Jack Regan would have told Blakey to Shut it lol)
-
Latest vehicle received here is the 28mm FT-17 produced by Brigade Games, ordered as part of our ACW 1935 project. The wife is doing the "bad guys" first this time, and this will be a tank allied to the Nationalists, but she will probably have me build it (she's an incredibly talented painter, but hates building tanks, and painting them, at least most of the time).
It's a nice piece, all metal. Cleanly cast, fits together nicely, and I suspect will glue up nicely as well.
We are still awaiting a Vickers E from Copplestone; I also ordered the Model T Armored Car from Brigade (a Company B piece). The Vickers E will go with my Constitutionalists; the Ford will go with my Anarcho-Soclalists in the Kentucky Free State. Looking forward to painting them all.
Also have some vehicles on order for my SCW project. These are the FOA CV33 and Bilbao Armored Car respectively.
There are two big 15mm armor painting jobs in my future. First, because someone stole my WW2 Italian collection almost in its entirety (I had a stand of engineers in another box, but they were the only survivors), I have to repaint everything there, and then I've got a Hungarian Armored Division to work on; the Hungarian book is done, and the boss is asking for photos, since he can't find any. But all in due time.

I just bought my fourth MATCHBOX YS-38 ARMOURED ROLLS ROYCE on ebay. I just can´t get too many of these. Great value at a low price, I never paid more than £10 each. And they paint up pretty quickly:

Another purchase which I am pleased with is a Model T with twin Lewis guns from Grand Manner. He also sells the drivers separately so I bought a couple of those as well:

My brother (who posts on LAF as Burgundavia) found a batch of perfectly-scaled (for 28mm) Matchbox Model T, Model A & Mack Jr trucks at a local dollar store for a whopping $1.50 each, and bought a bunch. I've snagged two, he's got the rest. They're all going to be repainted.

A Mage Knight Dwarf Behemoth steam tank! Jesus, White Knight, you must have won a lottery at some point. Seems like about 50% of these "New ______" are posted by you.

I exceeded this month's budget (and probably the next month's as well). o_o
-
Leadfool,
Is there any chance of you getting pictures up of your score at Historicon? I'm totally jealous!
-
As if further proof was needed that I way overspent, more loot arrived today. o_o
More Star Wars Action Fleet :
- X-wing
- Snowspeeder
- Sandspeeder
- Millenium Falcon with battle damage (too small, this one, but will do as a generic ship parked somewhere as scenry)
- 3x trade Federation MTT (the tank-like vehicle)
- Ep 1 droid ambush mini scene (not a vehicle, more a bit of scenery and a nice droid)
- Ep 1 droid stap invasion (for the droid on the flying bike thingie)
-
15mm BF Sting of the Scorpion set, all painted and based, consists of sentry boxes, 9 LRDG chevs, 2 SAS/LRDG jeeps and objectives. Also included was the old BF Pz Grdr box, 3 1/100 Stukas and 5 1/100 Me109s. the 109s are pre painted assembly jobs but the Stukas are ready to roll. The aircraft will probably go to someone else as I have decided to concentrate on 1/144 AC.
Now we can play the Barce scenario.

Well, the galoob Action Fleet range is bigger than the micro machines ranges. It scales perfectly with the old west end games/grenadier metal star wars range, which is true 25mm. It should work okay with the prepainted plastics if you don't mind it being a little on the small side.
As for resale value, not a lot. I've picked up most of these sets for £4-5 each. For wargaming purposes, that's great though as you can collect an impressive number of ships and vehicles to fill out your table for a reasonable price and they look good.

One of Tobsen's excellent Seagull 1930s streamline speedboats, and one of his Globo mini-bathyscapes.
Both larger than I was expecting, especially the Seagull, which is most of the size of my hand! Very clean castings, some minor thin flash, a few mold-lines, one or two trivial pits easily patched.
Both will be appearing in pulp games at some point; I'm also going to build a scaffold to support the Globo on dry land, so it can appear as scenery when not being used in a game. Perfect clutter for a mad scientist's lair or eccentric playboy's garage!
The Seagull will be grey or silver, probably. No idea what the Globo's paint scheme will be. Blue and grey, possibly.
Good delivery time from Germany too, pity the Cdn dollar->Euro exchange rate is awful... (hardly Tobsen's fault!) I'd considered ordering a second Seagull so I could add machine guns to it and paint it up in a full naval dazzle camoflauge scheme!

The Zvezda 1/72 "Mediaeval Lifeboat" from www.modelsforsale.com (http://www.modelsforsale.com)

Quite nice, aren't they? I suggest you glue a little sheet lead under the flooring as ballast to make it lay a little calmer on the gaming board.
-
Yes, really nice. Thanks for the tip re ballast. :)
I do this all the time. Styrene plastic make beautiful models but it is often too damn light for the gaming board.

Two Hummers from Poundland. Probably a little too small but I quite like them. They also have versions with flat backs, I might pick up one or two as support vehicles for my sci-fi self propelled gun. These two are being pressed into service for a big 40K game I have coming up.

DOUBLE EDIT:
There's totally room for a pillion rider too. I can't wait to get this painted up.

I have 6 of them now :) Need to put new wheels on them and sort riders. The width of the bike 'seat' makes it difficult and I suspect they'll need sculpted legs :(
-
Two of Mad Doc wee tankies...lovely little lads :-*

Just received a package from Imprint Models containing a BMP-3 APC/MICV. Great service, fine model (some minimal casting deficiencies, but nothing insurmountable and not really worth any serious mention), well-cast, with colour-printed instruction sheet. Thumbs up and a recommendation of this fine outfit. Buy from them if you consider modern vehicles in 1/50th scale.

Yesterday two 1/48 Humvees arrived via an eBay seller, bringing me up to 6. Today I got confirmation that I should have a 1/50 Abrams and a platoon of Bradleys arriving before Christmas from Imprint. Yippee!! I'm getting closer to the Battle of Yonkers!

Unfortunately I haven't found any that are spread wide enough to even go over. What I'm currently considering is using plastic Dark Eldar legs, cut into the right shape and then sculpting surface detail over them. Dark Eldar legs are really scrawny so they should work as a 'dolly' and it's about time I found a use for them :)

Hot Wheels VW Beetle, the one with the huge external engine. Doesn't scale up too well with my humans so I'm thinking of making it a staff car for my Squat Living Ancestor.

Work gave us a gift certificate for Christmas so I bought some Siku things I had wanted but did'nt want to pay for . ::)
I got the Leopard 4913, Caravan set 2542 and the Camper Van set 1934.
The Camper and Caravan sets have some outdoor furniture that I wanted to add some interest to my buildings. I also wanted to be able to do a country type Zombie game that I could easily take to the club so the campers etc will be useful.

2 1/72 Merkavas to try out as grav-tanks... Don't know what I'll do for other 20mm sci-fi however. ;D

A 1/48 Tamiya Standard Tilly.
Purchased the old fashioned way, by sauntering into a major Stockholm hobby shop, finding it in a on a well stocked shelf, taking a peek in the carton, and paying it cash. Classic.
Fiver, son of Hammers is turning two today so I thought it was about time I usher him along the road to wargaming by getting him his first miniatures and vehicle in the, well, lets call it Pulp, era:
(http://s7v1.scene7.com/is/image/Littlewoods/240x360prodtemplate?layer=comp&wid=240&hei=360&fmt=jpeg&qlt=90&resMode=sharp2&op_usm=1,1,10,0&$offerimg=is{Littlewoods/saleBadge_round_nosale?scl=1}&$productimg=is{Littlewoods/A011_SP334_07_UT06Ma?scl=1}&$productimgsize=240,360&defaultImage=/Littlewoods/imageunavailable)
Well, he's got a pulp police car already. Speaking of which: there is something distinctly Blue Oyster Bar over Duplo men in general.

I guess it is never to early to start an open minded discussion on matters of identity and gender...

A 1/48 Tamiya Standard Tilly.
Ah, but it's not a Standard Tilly, it's an Austin. That's why you shouldn't paint it RAF Blue, no matter how good it looks in that colour. There apparently isn't a single available photograph of the Austin in blue - lots of Standards, but no Austins. Only a vague reference to the fact that some may have gone to the RAF has led to generations of modelers painting it in that admittedly beautiful scheme. To be strictly accurate, you should stick to the drabber khaki/black 'Mickey Mouse' variation or even the strange Maltese 'stone wall' pattern. Green's good, too.
Of course, it's your model, so you can paint it however you like.
-
Archangel1 is right, Hammers. A Standard Tilly looks like this...
We had one when I was a child. I travelled to Arnhem in it in the mid 70s (a bit late to relieve Johnnie Frost, unfortunately, but we got there in the end).
You really need a 28mm HRH Princess Elizabeth to go with your Tilly...

-
I am glad you got to correct me, I am sure you both enjoyed that. ;) I thank you both, Plynkes, Archangel, but I am afraid the information is useless in my specific case as I am going to use it in a slightly anachronistic fashion anyway, most likely involving conversion.
Also, arriving yesterday, more than a week past the deadline of 'Build something' contest they were intended for. three trucks:
Blue Moon long and short bed stake trucks (sorry, doesn't say which make). BM consistently make themselves a disservice by employing that showcase painter of theirs. The kits are very nice. Crisp resin casts and white metal details which fit snugly.
Sloppy Jalpoy 1930 Ford AA stake truck. A beautiful model but a bit of a inglorius basterd to put together. Still a bit thrilled to get it as I just have finished reading "The Flight of the Great Horse"# by Sven Hedin, which very much deals the trouble of getting three such trucks and a sedan across the Chinese East Turkestan in the early 1930s. Heartily recommended read. 'S got everything from cartographers, dragon bones, warlords, White and Red Russians, turks, tungans, missionaries, mongols and what have you...
-
Soz, H. It's just that the Standard holds a place in my affections, on account of the childhood journey up Hell's Highway taken in her (though in those days I was more into Napoleonics, and I nagged my mum into buying me some Airfix French artillery in Arnhem).

I Just picked up some nice matchbox cars for my 15mm sci fi stuff. Out of the pack of 5, 3 were pretty usable and for only $5.49

I've read somewhere it's 1/50 but centimeters would be nice to know ;)
It looks 1/50th to me so I'm not too worried about it being in scale or not. :)
It measures 153mm (hull) , 50mm to top of turret plate and 69mm wide .
The hull/turret fit looks very dodgy but I can live with it.
-
that's about right for 1/50, thanks for the info :)

Mine didn't work either. I mailed them and said there had been a malfunction with the shopping cart (or something in that vein) and then they refunded the discount amount.

I must admit that Warlord's delivery timnes leading up to Christmas were very good indeed for me. Two days delivery time, arriving Christmas eve.

Alex, of Black Army Productions sent me an Ehrhardt Armoured Car as a gift and the quality of craftmanship including casting is fantastic. Highly recommended as it will fit in perfectly with your 25/28 mm miniatures.

lol If you must know, Rudi, Helen and I have been conducting a long distance trans-oceanic love affair for years. She said something about the ruggedly handsome men of the Hungarian Army, and I knew it was meant to be...
But in all seriousness, just a show of friendship. We share a lot of the same interests, so I hoped (and it seems I'm right) she would enjoy it. Helen, I'm extremely pleased that you liked the model. Thank you. I missed your initial note, and I apologize for the delay.
You can expect the check for spokesperson status to follow shortly...
Of course, it's being issued by the KuK War Department, so there may be a slight delay... of a few decades or so.

I just got the resin Renault FT-17 from Rif Raf (Force of Arms):
It looks a too small next to a Brigade Games poilu, even for a FT-17: I just can't imagine two guys inside! It will be probably worse next to Scarab or Renegade.
The few metal parts need some filing; the resin parts are perfect, I just needed a minute to clean them and I haven't seen any holes. It's got a lot of detail and you can easily paint every rivet on it. There's no instructions but there's few parts and everything seems to fit easily.
**Sorry, finally I fixed the picture... Photobucket hates me!

I know thanks. However the pic on his entry doesn't show relative sizes etc due to the angle. Plus I have no idea what figure that is in the pic so again it gives no real reference. Vyper is likely to use EM4, Copplestone, GW, Haslefree, etc figures that are recognisable to everyone.

A Solido 1/50 riot van? What other Solido did they have?
-
The riot van was a military green, with a box-like rear, with mesh windows. The other might be a water riot gun truck, or possibly another type of fuel truck, as it looked like it might have a hose on the back? Both were a design i didn't recognise - might well be a French or Italian truck, only got a glimpse of them.

Cars are destined to be wrecks. Jeeps will be a useful addition.

These will probably end up used for Sci-fi games, or maybe as part of a UN occupation force during a zombie outbreak.

A couple of toy helicopters.
One of them looks like a cartoon version of the Kiowa. It's some kind of Fantastic 4 merchandise, with a picture of The Thing on the side and Marvel Comics logos on the blades. It's pretty cute and is about to be militarised into an adorable gunship.
The other one is a load less detailed with really paltry rotor blades. It's going to be a troop carrier.

Going to up gun it so deciding what bigger gun to go for before getting stuck in.
-
A Fisher-Price Imaginext walker from Sainsbury's. It's dead stompy.
The yellow panel opens to reveal a little cockpit with space for at least two 28mm miniatures, it's really nifty.
-
Hooray for market day! Picked up this big truck, looks very post-apoc.
-
Got a delivery from Ramshackle Curtis - one of his new Ram Stoat vehicles, and a big box of miscasts for conversions and scenery purposes.
Quite frankly, I've seen stuff at shows the same quality as these "miscasts" for sale at full price. Mostly nothing that can't be fixed with a little filler and a good scrape clean.
You'll never get rich like this, matey! lol
-
Platoon of GZG 'Fan Vans' in 15mm... Lovely little things. :-* :-* :-*
-
Two Star Wars miniatures Telosian Tank Droids and a TIE Crawler. The Crawler's pilot pod is a bit on the small side, good thing I'm going through a Space Dwarf phase at the minute!
-
Was browsing for a in scale Helicopter, and stumbled over this nice little truck at the Toys R US.
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3513476
At 7 bucks, it feels like a steal!
The side panel even lift up for soda can storage....
-
Picked up a few pieces from Minimi at WMMS yesterday, all for LOTHS - a Large Sloop, a Pinnace and two of the small whaler rowboats.
I seem to be amassing quite a little fleet - if only I had enough men to crew them all!
-
Just received a box with 4 Diecast Models of Yesteryear cars that I win from e-Bay.
I got one of each;
1907 Rolls Royce – Silver ghost
1911 Daimler
1914 Prince Henry Vauxhall
1909 Opel Coupe
The Rolls Royce fit very well with 28mm figures. The Daimler and Prince Henry Vauxhall are a tad too big for my liking but still within acceptable limits IMHO. I think that the Daimler is too big (probably a 1/43 model) and I’m not sure I will keep it…
I plan to re-paint them to use with my WWI figures collection… will I be hunted down by hardcore collectors if I do so?
-
3 snatch land rovers and a 105 light gun form s&s models
-
I picked up the following for a Pulp game loosely based on the Mummy...
Sloppy Jalopy - Ford AA Flatbed
Sloppy Jalopy - Ford AA Pickup
Sloppy Jalopy - Crossley 19.6 Tourer
-
Two Slix diecast cars from Sainsbury's. I'm almost positive that these are the same cars that Tesco were selling as Phat Wheels. I picked up a police car, which looks really good and scales up nicely for 28mm, and some kind of Hummer with really small windows that scales up okay, but not brilliantly.

I need to look for some cars to carry my 1920's Strange Aeons Agents in..

I need to look for some cars to carry my 1920's Strange Aeons Agents in...
I was looking for car build before or around 1914 because I collect Early WWI figures. If your setting is in the 1920’s or 1930’s you could also check Lledo models. They should be less expensive than the Matchbox Models of Yesteryears which appears to be more sough after "collectibles pieces".

Need to run 2 projects at a time mate :D
Doing VSF whilst i await my Strange Aeons stuff..

lol, I'm different. I focus on one thing!
Albeit, quite a big thing. i.e. 2 armies at once, one painting, the other buying, basing and cleaning. :)

So your not doing any AA stuff at the mo then lol
-
Not painting any. Sculpting, for sure, but that's like... Work. ;D
Fun work though.
-
Two more Slix cars, this time an ambulance and a Nascar-style sports car.
-
Rogue Trader era Rhino APC through a trade on Frothers which I will one day repaint along with my lovely old Squats.
-
1/56 diecast Tiger (early production), for my soviet's to take back to berlin :D
-
1956 Ford Pickup for my 1950s alien invasion project, and a Testors Roswell UFO for same and a Dr Who Dreamland game.
-
A stubby little slix pickup truck. I'm going to try some weathering techniques on it, I think. I'm not amused that they've raised the price on them though. :-I
Edit for new purchases:
A slix fire engine, which is pretty small but doesn't look too out of scale because it hasn't got any visible doors. Also a couple of market day purchases yesterday- a really scratched up diecast sports car and a diecast sci-fi minibus that practically screams Judge Dredd, but sadly would only scale up well with 10mm figures. It'll make a cracking sci fi limousine, I imagine.
-
Three Blue Moon classics; the Capone Special, the Roadster and the Short-bet Stake Truck.
Gotta get with those Pulp Alley car chases.
-
A Days Gone Vanguards 1953 Pontiac Delivery Van from Ebay for my 1950s alien invasion project.
-
Thought I'd throw up a picture of all the cars I've been buying over the past few weeks.
Miniature stuck in the gridlock for scale. :)
-
I see Lledo listed on Ebay at mainly 1/64th. How does that scale to 28mm figures anyone?
-
if that is the actual scale of the models, then they will be more in scale with true 25mm (like Ground Zero Games, Denizen, old WEG star wars, old ral partha, etc...)
-
I see Lledo listed on Ebay at mainly 1/64th. How does that scale to 28mm figures anyone?
I have some Lledo vehicles and though on the small side I think they scale up fine to 28 mm. I am not sure if 1/64 is the true scale I have been told that these vehicles vary a lot.
-
Safe delivery of a 1/43 Corgi 60s/70s Royal Mail Bedford van suitable for blagging. 8)
Many thanks to Yankeepadlar01 for acquiring it and posting it on. :)
-
Another market day swoop. When I bought it I thought it was the Technodrome from TMNT. After some research it turns out to be in fact the Rock Planet from the War Planets toy range. Pictures aren't mine, my camera's out of batteries.
It's big enough to work as a big, archaic drop pod, and the opening hatch is a plus.

All need a repaint and maybe some improving. :)

A hobbyboss 1/48 KV-2, got it so cheap i couldn't justify not making an exception to my 1/56 only-rule =)

2 pegasus Area 51 UFOs

A hobbyboss 1/48 KV-2, got it so cheap i couldn't justify not making an exception to my 1/56 only-rule =)
Are those the ones that someone linked on Frothers? How is it? I'm very tempted.

Those are NICE. I particularly like the two on the far right. Hummer and some kind of future car?

Hind Gunship (1:60) from a toystore
:)
Good good :D
they're pretty easy to disassemble for painting
If you're adding pilots (ebob dollies) and painting the cockpit, you want Verdigris Glaze 832 from vallejo, just add several layers to get that nice russian cockpit feel :D

Another 1:50 Volkswagen Type3 Fastback and some Choppers from Hot Wheels, Damn, I'll need another display cabinet for my street fillers soon...

After seeing Grimm's excellent, excellent Chinese Warlord set up closeup and personal @Glam I have sort of made a strategic decision for myself to, if at all possible, primarily use diecast vehicles in the future. The reasons are several:
1) diecasts are heavy
2) they are robust
3) most often cheaper
4) comes in a gazillion choices
Drawbacks may be:
1) they often roll unless you lock the wheel axle somehow
2) they are a bit difficult to strip
3) aluminum is a bit tricky to prime, paint and weather
4) scales are often a bit off
So, said and done, I have ordered the following just recently:
From China, a 1931 A Ford sedan for my Sven Hedin expedition:
For my RCW Boshies, a AMO F-15:
This last item was a bit of a find @ $5 plus P&P from the US. I was quite shocked to see the collectors market for old Soviet made diecasts. Asking prices for these items easily reach $60-$100 or above.
-
A Bradley and T-90 from Imprint Models - more for the BF:BC2 buildup.
I must say, I am very surprised at how sharp the resin is - very high quality castings, would recommend them to anyone!
8)
-
A flakvierling from Tamiya and another hobbyboss KV-2 :)
-
For what it may be useful for: a Matchbox 1912 Ford Model T with Heinz advertisements from the fleamarket
-
My hopping from partizan mostly consisted of a BDRM2, BMP2 and a saxon apc in 1/56, that kind of blew my entire budget fror the trip :D
-
One of Crouchies new T-15 Light tanks (BEF Miniatures)
8)
-
I [icked up a whippet Tank from Curtey's at Partizan :D

New bits from Wargames South, all 1/144, to paint for website.
Comet, Staghound, Su85, A7V....all lovely models :)

You can buy official Dropships with 01 on the side (the one that crashed) or 02 (the one that Bishop remote piloted) - i'm lucky to now have both.
...plus a 1:72 plastic kit...which some loon in the US is selling on ebay for £460 + £100 postage... ;D
-
In my last market day assault for a good long while I nabbed a diecast Batmobile (maybe a bit undersized for 28mm) which is pretty worn and scratched, a Group 4 Security truck which is a little oversized but pretty cool and a big rocket launcher tank thing.
-
another Hobbymaster 1/55th M1 Abrams (number 6 for me) - unlike the previous 5 which were for my znti-zombie force, this one is for Battlefield Bad Company.

Um, while you're at it, um?

Scale of the train and cars is good, though they made it a bit wider and put the wheels on the extreme edge to allow for a wide track for kids to play with it on. Otherwise its really nice train :)
-
There were a couple left in the store, though some were the continental express version (great for pulp etc..., less appropriate for Old West).
Don't remember the price exactly, but I think it was around 23-25€, which might make them a bit expensive if you have to add shipping (would probably take them up to the 40-45€ mark). I've seen them go for cheaper (between 11 and 18 euro) in another store 5 years ago, but that was then. :'(

Another Aliens APC....

*cough* I finished the cards for the four main units (Heavy Suit, Krab PA, Pikers and Drovaks), but didn't get around to finishing up the article needed. It's my fault, but it's on a really low priority, although I hope to do some work on it over the summer.

M48A3 in 1/72nd which came with CombatTank magazine , very very nice. I'm again regretting doing Nam in 28mm instead of 20mm but its too late now as I've spent heaps of money already. ::) its probobly better for my eyes to paint in 28mm anyway lol

Warthog apc from Antenociti's GOT line

I got 2 more Danbury miniatures and have painted the first two, sorry no pic.
I am finding these "Highly Collectable" Danbury Mint vehicles, in Pewter, and they are assembled etc. and cheaper then the Sloppy Jalopy or Blue Moon vehicles. No flash, solid metal model, etc.
The first 2 painted up nicely. A 1913 Mercer 2 passenger car and a 1914 Rolls Royce sedan, which has now been taken over by the Red army for a command and Forward Observer vehicle. Of course it now has a flag holder mounted in it if the Whites should reacquired it.

I'm afraid no gaming models this time, but they still scale up very well with my minis
I was at the Interforst Forestry Exposition in Munich last thirsday and bought the Sword Model scale models of the Valmet Harvesters and Forwarder.
I could not find a good original link but Google (http://www.google.de/images?q=valmet%20swordmodel&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi) (<-klick) finds lots of nice pictures...now I really need to finish that forest modelling project...

First of my French Dinky EBR 75s arrived today. Purchased cheap on Ebay. It's a thing of beauty, r it's emarkably well detailed especially when you consider it's a 35 year old die cast toy, in fact it would hold head up with all but the most detailed wargaming models. Scales out to about 1/60. I've been playing with it ever since it arrived in the post today. Very happy boy.
-
Well, actually I could not get one to 28mm scale so I kit bashed my own T-28 for interwar use:

Three Chinese diecast T-55s, more or less 1/48 - 1/50 scale. I'd been eyeing off the FoA T-54s but for $6.99 apiece these were hard to resist and are incredibly well detailed. The turret rotates, the gun elevates and the tracks turn. It's taking some considerable effort not to push the damn things around the dining room table making brrm brrm sounds. :D

Those T55's sound interesting. Can I ask what make are they and how can I buy some?

Hi thanks it looks good enough to me.

Well the 15mm Star Mogul project is shaping up nicely!
Just came home to find an Old Crow 15mm Provider Transport (http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/15mm/15prov/15provwl.gif) and some big stacks of crates (http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/15mm/15access/15cratestackl.gif) & barrels (http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/15mm/15access/15canisterstackl.gif) waiting for me in the mailbox. The provider will make a decent little salvage rig and the crates & barrels are an obvious choice for recovered salvage (& cover!) back at the drop-zone.
These will all serve very nicely for games of Gruntz (http://www.gruntz.biz/) too!

Those T55's sound interesting. Can I ask what make are they and how can I buy some?
Interestingly enough, I unpacked another one today and in the clamshell I found a little paper writeup, about the size of a couple of cigarette papers. I must have missed it with the first one.
Very interesting. One side is in Russian, the other in English and it seems to cover the range of vehicles produced. It talks about an M-1 Abrams and T-62, produced in 2007 . There are potted blurbs on the T-55, T-62 and T-34 suggesting that all three have been produced. Russian company manufacturing in China or Chinese knockoffs of a Russian model. The plot thickens. Definitely going to keep an eye out for the T-62. then I really will look at doing Afghanistan. I've always said that if there was a Soviet T-62 sitting on the Khyber Pass we wouldn't ve having all this unpleasntness there today.
-
Oh and the first one has already been repainted solid all over Russian green. Decals go on tonight.
-
Carlos,will we get pics? :D
-
I asked the seller about how much to combine shipping costs as I was thinking of getting a few T55's.
Dear ,
How many you want to buy ??
3-5 PCS ,about 18.00 USD each one .(includes postage)
5-10 pcs .17.00 USD each one .(includes postage)
As they were they same price for 1 to 5 , I had another look and found another seller with cheaper prices. $13.65 inc postage each for 3. Even cheaper as you buy more. I will let you know the seller once its confirmed.

An excellent model. Some parts were a bit roughly cast, but the resin is a pleasure to work with - cuts, carves, and sands easily with little dust, no smell, and most parts were very well done. You get a load of options, and I've gone for the basic Battletech variant, but will paint up both head turrets (med laser and twin MGs). The arms can just be stuck into the torso, but I'll eventually add some rare earth magnets to that. The left hand got a plastic pintle to allow for 360° rotation (demonstrated in the second pic), the torso rotates, and I've pinned, but not glued the weapon arm so I'll have the option to use the large laser arm at a later time.
I'll paint it for the Draconis Combine (thread to follow in Future Wars).

lovely model!!! will you post some pics when painted, please?
I have no use for it, but would be great to find a good excuse to buy and paint it

Another 1/48th MkVII Viper turned up this morning - Mrs Akky is getting concerned that it isn't the same one she keeps finding around the house, but that I may have been caning my credit card again....

:o
Akky, you're doing the first mistake in the art of hiding miniatures!
First of all, make sure that you are home when the post arrives, and then later take the rubbish out yourself. With a quick move you'll sneak the package down the bin and voilá, no "Hey, we're suppose to buy clothes to our children"-battering ;)
Secondly, don't share the same credit card, and for god sake, don't make her open the bills...
-
Unfortunately:
1) Mrs Akky has security cameras with nightvision, so sneaking out isn't going to work, no matter what time of day.
2) I work, and Mrs Akky doesn't any more, so she is there when the parcel AND the credit card bill arrive.
3) Mrs Akky isn't stupid - she knows all the tricks - trust me i've tried them all over the years lol
-
Get Mrs. Akky a hobby. Mrs. Arg has. Mrs. Arg gets her own secret parcels, so I don't have to defend my right to buy little men :D
-
3 Cruiser Mk 2
3 Light Tank Mk VIb - all 15mm, painted and decalled for France 1940.

Then the answer to your problem is obvious:
Briber her.

Sort of, i think he wants to make a metalversion, said the resin one was a bit tricky to cast :)

I'm a bit hesitant about repainting it now since i have chinese aswell as russians, might go for a no-markings variation so it looks ok for both :)

No markings sounds like a plan.
Latest vehicle...a Raptor.... ;)
-
2 boxes of the Revell 1/72 Hanse Kogge (which is big enough for 28mm minis).
The beauty is that the hull separates in the middle to allow for a complete hull or a waterline model. The idea is to see if I can do without gluing them together so I can attach the lower hull to a large flying stand for use of the ships as both flying ships in fantasy or regular (waterline) ships on sea. And if that doesn't work, then I can build one of each. ;D

There is only so much of a 1/50 scale battlestar galactica hanger bay you can hide under the cushions Matt, seriously, I'm suprised you haven't been lynched/divorced/lynched again and buried in a shallow grave, ressurected as a zombie, killed again and buried this time down a really deep hole.

Some recent vehicles, and one I've had for a while, but really like.
Zombies are Studio Miniatures. Fighters are Hasslefree and converted Foundry streetfighter figures.
Most recent was a Camper Van - made in China, if that helps :)
Followed by Motor Max "Service Series" dustbin lorry (no scale on the box)
Motor Max "Super Wheels" pickup truck - claims 1:43 on the box
(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_a_0PfAqvAWI/TQ5v3zGlh_I/AAAAAAAAAMY/AYOuNOpZPM0/ThumbPickupTruck.jpg)
and Siku "skid Steer Load" 1:50
(http://lh5.ggpht.com/_a_0PfAqvAWI/TQ5v5IW2msI/AAAAAAAAAMg/Y3ozBTtMkmA/ThumbDigger.jpg)
Slightly older one I picked up in a local cash and carry. The button on the top plays sounds, although the battery already needs replacing
(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_a_0PfAqvAWI/TQ5v4rWmlVI/AAAAAAAAAMw/L80darWI-tk/ThumbStretchLimo.jpg)
Lastly, a Monster truck, no scale, no name etc, but good for crushing the Zeds :)

Snap together kits, 5 or 6 pieces.
Tempted now to get the T34/76 early and the Pz III G that will be released in Feb 2011. Perhaps I can wait until I get to Canada later next year.

Another A wing and y-wing won on ebay, (for the princely sum of £12 including post!).
Will be a welcome addition to the fleet.
-
continuing the arms race, an Action Fleet Trade Federation Droid Tank....
:D
....my thinking being, that between Episodes 3 and 4 of Star Wars, there must be lots of surplus Droid/Clone kit lying around on battlefields/storage, before all those shiney new walkers get handed out to the Imperials (and the rebel kit is basically old Republic designs anyway).
-
another 1:48th resin Viper (Number 10) - this time a SciFi Model, but still compatible with my Black Sun models (another model, as yet unidentified, on its way - spotted by Whiskyrat - cheers mate).

awesome lol
I'm defiantely lagging behind in the US armour department
-
A broken thing that I found beside the road! Which isn't even a vehicle yet.
It's made of horrible soft plastic and is a kind of easel thing. Possibly some sort of music stand. Essentially an A-shaped wood-effect frame with a flap on the back to act as a stand, it's about 10cm long (ish) by about 5cm wide at the base.
I was walking up the road thinking 'I really shoud sort out some kind of limber-drawn VSF artillery device... ooh look, that will do for a limber'. Very serendipitous. Now I need to get some wheels...

Corgi 1/50 scale Kingforce Churchill, even has a pennant.

*hums Ode to Joy as he types*
Today, a desire I had for 20 years was fulfilled - my local Modelzone received a batch of Revell USA resissues of old Monogram plastic kits, and huzzah, it included the 1/48th scale Hind kit! Got one straight away, and will possibly get one of the Frogfoots on the weekend. Chuffed to bits, marvellous kit to "abuse" as a gaming piece, although it is HUGE - some 40cm all in all.

Lucky bugger how much were they?
Just a penny short of twenty quid for most of the kits - they had the "Century Series" as well as the Su-25, and some others which I don't recall. I think I'll get back there on Saturday and see what's left, and maybe buy a Su-25 to avoid disappointment later on, even if I don't build it right away.

would love to see the Hind - 40cm long...that would put quite a dent in the Battlefield Bad Coy 2 table, at Salute.

How big are the tables gogn to need to be to accomodate all this Star wars gear ;D ;)
I am just jealous as I am having to sell of lots of lead to raise cash :'(
-
mine will be about 4'x10' which is also the size of the Battlestar Galactica project (which the viper is for) - needless to say, only one project will be on tabletop at any one time..... lol
-
Scruffy old Dinky Berliet Gazelle truck for my Portuguese. Needs a repaint and some minor repairs.

A humvee from Maisto I intend to use in "zombie hunt" games.
I'll probably add some roadkill details to the painting first.

An 1:35 "Aliens" APC :D
Now I just have to convince a friend that he doesn't need his Dropship anymore.
-
1:64 1936 Cord sedan, Hot Wheels, found cheap on FleaBay. Slightly on the small side for 28mm pulp, but such a neat design that it's forgiven.
I am going to have to repaint it, as mine has a stupid logo on the roof. Pity, it's a lovely burgundy colour otherwise.

Where did you get those?
-
yeah! where did you get them?
-
You can get them on Ebay from various retailers in China. All up with postage they are about $18.00, although if you buy in bulk you can knowck the postage costs down. I bought three last year. Excellent little models, really well detailed. Good to go out of the box, though I've repainted mine. I've been contemplating replacing the AAMG with the Eureka one but the one that comes with the model is perfectly good.
@Col Stone Ten of them? Hmm it's an arms race. I want some more too!
-
Oh and the intriguing thing about these is that the ones I bought had a little flyer in Russian about the T-55 and purported to show other tanks in the range like a T-62 and T-34. I've searched high and low for these but no joy yet.
-
Carlos is correct =)
and i'll probably be getting more when i've repainted these lol
-
more Siku diecasts
A VW Pickup, a SUV-taxi, 2 Dodge charger US police cars
and a
maisto beetle that looked like it was close to 28mm :D
-
Jesus, Stone! Where do you have room to game with all those massive helicopter and tank armies you are collectiong? :)

table is too small really, 6*8 feet, but i like having complete companies lol

Christ, man...! I thought I had collectors mania but I feel I run into a master. :)
Still, it'd be grat if you brought that to SLAM. I never playeed tank battles in 28mm (1/56), only with little paper squares (Blitz Krieg)or 1/155 scale plastic things (FoW).
-
hehe, won't make it to this one, but i'll see if i can't get a lebanon-game set up for a later one, or just arrange a miniSLAM up north :)

I bought one of those awhile ago but it was much bigger than I expected. I figure to take the wheels off it and convert it into a street barricade. Well eventually when I get around to it.

It's HUGE but from that pic and with a 28mm figure, it looks about right anyway lol

Lots of vehicles for my "The Prisoner" project.
2 Dinky Mini-Mokes one is an official Prisoner one, I am leaving as is, the other is being completely repainted.a bit big scale wise but still looks good with 28mm figs.
A Corgi Bell Huey helicopter with floats, good scale wise
Corgi White Jag E-Type and White Cortina both a bit to large but usable at a push
And best of all a Lotus 7, with the KAR 120C number plate, beautiful little model and is a perfect match scale wise about 1/55th
Very happy

What scale?
If that one is directed to my post (Citroen C4), it's 1/43rd scale. A bit big, but IMHO does work well with large 28s, especially if they are based on Slottabases.

Anyway I got a pair of Vito vans, (DHL and Euro-car liveries) cheers Predatorpt And two Halo warthogs from Dwartist, (cheers Dave you're a star).

Just got my hands on a Panzer 35(t) from BEF miniatures. To be brutally honest, for £18, I think I could have done better. The metal parts are great, but the resin hull and turret detail is not at all as crisp as I was expecting. The mudguards are very thin, too, and have broken during transit in some places. I like it, but all the same, I'll make an effort to find a plastic kit next time, I think...

Another Tugboat for my Innsmouth docks.

I had seen that copy in that store some months before, so it's not a new mag. slim chance to find another, specially since I live in the Flemish part of Belgium and French mags are only to be found in specialized bookshops let alone french agricultural mags.
However should one be interested in a vintage tractor, there are some fine models over here (http://www.bemomodels.com/en/tractors/menu/schuco-204)

The joys of youth indeed. In my day it was Rimbaud this and Rimbaud that, pens, poems and french letters. Naturally the squinty looking kid with the receding hair line in our gang couldn't be anyone else than Baudelaire. :)

Yes, and yes.

I just picked up 2 Cyclops land wheeler from Rafm. I wanted to use them with my Quar but alas they are to small for the small Quar. I can not see any 25/28/32mm figure inside it but they would be great for 15mm. That being said they are very nice vehicles and castings.

It is a nice kit but requires a bit of modelling work to be done for handlebars and railing for the gun. Perhaps not exactly 50 quid nice, but there are few alternatives since AKULA bought all the toy ones ;) :D

A Mega Blocs Black Pearl which is incomplete but is going to be converted anyway so am not worried about the missing bits.
I got it for NZ$20 on an online auction site. ;D I didn't realise just how HUGE it was going to be.

Which reminds me, that I have a Black Pearl toy model that is really huge, too. I should rekindle my pirate project... as with so many others pending :?

How do they look next to TAG, Mongrel or similar?

I don't have any other Technicals to place them against although I have some Stan Johansen ones coming (ordered before I found these on the web). BE figures are roughly the same height as TAG (have some) but a far slimmer figure.

They go well with 20mm metal ranges though, perfect fit for Britannia Afghans.

Via one of the local thrift stores, a Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Ford Model A Coupe. Judging by photos found online, it's very nearly perfectly in scale with 28mm.
We don't actually have many enclosed cars, and this one is especially nice to get as it's a vehicle that was as common as stink back in the pulp era!
-
My thrift store finds, a couple of tractor-trailer rigs about 1/60-1/56 scale. Plan to use them in an up coming zombie game.

Warlord Sherman Firefly - not as impressed by this (no box, mould lines along the front of the hull, big globs of resin between the wheels and the bottom of the hull will need a good sanding as its quite rough/badly cast?)

Corgi Tactical Strike M2A2 Bradley - 1/64th scale.

Gasoline 1/48 VBL. It's a really lovely little model and brilliantly designed and cast. No flash and the casting gates/dags are designed in such a way as they are easy to remove without the major surgery that often comes with resin kits. Looks pretty good sizewise against the Eureka French, so all up I'm pretty happy.
This was part of an order that included conversion kits for the Solido/Verem VAB and some beautiful liitle multi media .50 cal machineguns. Really cannot speak too highly of the product or for that matter the customer service. The little pieces I ordered were sensibly packed into the box for the VBL and a little note attached expalining this. I'd heartily recommend anyone considering doing business with QuarterKit to do so.

Just bought a 1/48 scale Hi-Tech BTR-70 (same as the one in the Stalker thread) from China and a 1/35th scale barge from Historex - it was cheaper to go to them than get one off of Ebay.

Corgi 1/50th M48, Sherman M4a3 and a German Halftrack with quad AA. All from Ebay.

It's just Mel Gibson's ex-wife's way of making him come out of his trailer. :)

For dangerous camping holidays?
Clearly. Car Wars had a great scenario involving picnics, cars with enough cargo capacity for a mother-in-law and much tongue-in-cheek. Bringing something like that armoured car to the annual company camping trip would really force the Joneses to pick up their game next year.

3 sets of Fastlane trains with 14 trucks/cars plus 3 locos and 3 sets of track. Woohoo!! Woot! Woot!
-
Just got a JFTM Staghound I.Incredible model. This is my first vehicle from JFTM(I have the 150mm IG) and I must say it is as good as my Tamiya kits for detail.I'm sure once painted up you won't be able to tell it's not a multi part model kit.
-
Been on a little vehicle craze lately, with lots more to come :D
Company B m24 Chaffees and the Jap anti tank gun SP.Both nice models little flash and went together very easy.
JFTM 234/4, very cool looking, no flash went together beautiful. Both of these companies have excellent detail my only advice to buyers would be they are as fragile as plastic model kits so don't have any illusions about them being "gaming" pieces.
Force of Arms Centurion Mk III nice finish and a little more "robust" than the others but still with good detail.
All in all I'm VERY happy with all these models and would recommend all of them.
A boatload of Warlord vehicles are on the way.Hopefully I'll stay pleased.
Pete
As a aside I mostly have 1/48 Tamiya and Bandai and 1/50 corgi and Percision Model Designs vehicles.I stick with a single scale for any given vehicle type. The 1/56 are mostly smaller type vehicles(armored cars, light tanks, halftracks) and I think they all go well together as they are supposed to be small anyway.
The Centurions do seem a little small but the alternative is the old Aurora model(what they called 1/4 scale) and it is HUGE.

Not recieved yet, but I am assured my Force of Arms Vietnam era M48 is on its way from Bob at the Wargames Command Post.
Just wanted to say thank you really, Bob has not only managed to get the Model from a business that is currently 'on hold' but has kept me informed of exactly what's been happening, even while nursing Mrs. Bob who has a bad foot and is consequently chairbound. What a star!
It's not often I'm actually moved to write a Thank You note BUT Bob at WCP has been brilliant and I can't recommend him highly enough.
No he isn't paying me.
Buy stuff from Bob you swines...
Best as always, Old Goat.

I got a pair of Centurions from the Wargames Command Post, 6 days from ordering to the USA.I was very impressed.
Just got my Warlord vehicles, well most of them.
2 Pumas
2 250 halftracks with 75mm
251 with 75mm
250 with the 20mm
2 Tetrachs
Humber IV
3 Shcneider French armored cars
and 2 25 pounders plus some Belgian infantry.
The Warlord vehicles are nice, not as fine as the JTFM vehicles but they are a bit cheaper and made a little more like a wargame piece. All in all I'm happy with them.Except the 250 20mm base.I didn't realize they made any vehicles with bases,Ycchh!
The highlight of the order is the 25 lbers and Belgians though.Very nice!
-
The vehicle has been around since Christmas but one part is new anyway!
My older son has a 12v Power Wheels truck that he loves to tear around the yard in. It has no lights though (none of the power wheels do). So this is what I did this Saturday morning:
There is a switch I installed on the dashboard that turns all the lights on and off, the lights are wired into the 12v battery and do not run on their own power source. The LEDs draw very little power so their is little effect on run time for the vehicle. I may consider adding a few more lights up front or maybe a light bar, if I do then I will add an additional 6v to run all the lights.
-
From Copplestone, a very, very nice Armstrong-Whitworth armoured car, the first armoured vehicle for my Russian Civil War forces.
I'm planning on doing it up fairly generically, and adding a flagstaff off the roof somewhere so it can fly White or Red flags (or others!) as appropriate.
-
Vehicle?
110 1/3000th scale WW2 ships for naval gaming (not gazing). About half were named in the Ebay listings so I have spent most of today trying to identify the balance and thanks to various manufacturers have manged to identify all bar 10 of the rest. ;D

found this one in a 2nd hand/antiques shop :)

2 X Company B Mercedes Special Ops G-Wagens. Very nice stuff, will complement the LAF Marines perfectly. Now I just need to convert some crew. Hint to Bruce, talk to Kosta about making some German crew.
-
Vehicle? No, Vessels. Shapeways delivered 7 Italian Heavy Cruisers, 3 Italian aircraft carriers, one French aircraft carrier and 2 French destroyers, all with tiny 2mm wingspan aircraft, 1/3000 scale for WW2 Naval gaming.

Diecast M-41 Walker Bulldog, circa 1/50. Corgi diecast toy M-60A1 and a diecast 3/4 ton Dodge Weapons carrier, which will end up in my Colonial Portuguese collection.

May I ask where did you pick up the M-41?
It's a Japanese diecast toy, or at least it was, it has already been converted and painted. In it's original form it was complete with firing toy gun and an oversized commander whose head popped up out of the hatch. Gun replaced with aluminium tubing, repainted and stowed.
I found it online at Model Cars of the World, an Australian diecast car outlet who have a big sale on all their stock, 40% off, 45% with cash. Even so, it was still bloody expensive but it's the only M-41 out there that's even vaguely scaled to 28mm figures and well... I really wanted one.
I've searched high and low to find another of these but no joy. For reference it says on the box 'Diapet M-41' and it was manufactured by Yonezawa toys. According to the packaging it's 1/50. Judging by photos and comparison with my minis that seems about right.
I suspect it's a rare collectors item these days, which means I've probably lost a small fortune by converting it for wargaming use.
Good luck.
-
Yep, defunct:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yonezawa_Toys
Pity, save for the toy features it's a very well detailed model.

1 troop of 25 pdrs, tractors, staff team etc
2 17/25 pdr ATGs & cmd
2 portee'd 6 pdrs
2 ground mount 6 pdrs, jeep and cmd
2 Hurricane IID
2 SP AA Bredas

one Aussie motor? platoon
3 dismounted tank crew
4 Ram Kangaroos with crew/passengers
1 ACV
All 15mm based, painted, flocked in desert colours except the Rams which are NWE colour. I think my Brit/Commonwealth desert troops are complete now if I finish the armour.
-
Tamiya 1/48 VW Beetle, that's going to sport civvy colours for post war adventures. This really is a delightful little model, it almost builds itself and really fits well with 28mm figures. Big recommend for anyone wanting civilian vehicles. Might pick up a couple more.
-
Secrets of the Third Reich Spider Mecha tank.Very nice vehicle.

Just got in the mail 2 Imprint models.
A BMP-3 and a Scimitar.
They are outstanding.
Bob at Imprint will be getting more orders from me, soon.
-
A couple horsedrawn carts to populate the streets of my future EotD scenery:
3 of them have a driver that's close enough sizewise. Overall they're a tiny bit on the small side, more like 25-26mm than 28mm, but for something that's really just moving scenery, they'll do.

Battlefield Evolution Warrior (1), RSTs (3) & Technicals (3). Bargain from a US supplier but postage pushed the price up. Still, $AUD 10 per pack is good value.
-
5 x 76 mm Shermans (PSC)
3 x 75mm Shermans (BF)
All 15mm scale, painted for US armour forces, perhaps a Battle of the Bulge game.

A bag of truly superb goodies from Imprint Models. Three AAV7 A1 amtracs, a couple of technicals and the weapons pack. Fantastic quality castings and great customer service. Arrived within a week of ordering. Happy customer.

Hallmarks new 2012 Xmas ornaments have a couple of nice additions.
First is the Bat!
Looks to be 1/50 scale. Here it is, next to some miniatures from Crooked Dice and Hasselfree, along with a Hotweels 1/50 Batman Tumbler.
And they also released this which has been on my want list for awhile.
The Bat was about $30. The DeLoreon was about $20

Commando Miniatures SWB Landrover, purchased from another LAFer. It's pretty poor to be honest. Seems on the smallish size scale wise, detail is overstated and the casting is a pretty rough and ready, the white metal wheels are particularly bad. Actually, it really comes across as a home cast item. Acceptable when painted up and really cos it's the only SWB Landy in a reasonable scale out there. Alas, I have also been constructing and painting a couple of superb pick up trucks/ technicals from Imprint, so it really does suffer by comparison, a case of chalk and cheese really. Pity, I was enthused by the pictures on the web page.
-
I bought a cardboard pirate ship (http://www.topthatpublishing.com/title?id=5896) from the works for £7.99 yesterday.
It's about 61cm long and 58cm high. The cardboard pirates that come with it seem about 40mm, so scale wise, it should be okay. No idea how strong it will be when built, and it's no match for a resin one, but for £7.99 it will do :)
Now I just need to dig out the coloured pencils/cheap craft paint, as it's not coloured in, despite the picture on the front of the box :(
-
2 28mm LCMs (one helo, one ATC) as part of an Ebay buy.
-
Wild wild west - steam walker – bought in group of other toys from E Bay – waiting for me at the post office sorting depot as package too big to go through letter box.
Opportunities endless – imagination running away with its self.
Shame the end result will not live up to expectations :( – but the dream is there. :)

A couple of damaged Mark 1 Rhinos from Ebay to tart up and use with my (long planned) Squat force, and a nice chunky wheely-crawler thing from our very own very_lazy_dragon to make into an engineer/recovery vehicle for the same project.
-
Some more wonderful vehicles from Imprint via Nic Robson who put in an order a while ago. A BTR-80, a HMMWV and a T-72. Alas, silly bugger me I had mostly built the T-72 when I realized the supplied version had two right hand side skirts supplied as opposed to a left and a right. Time for a politely worded request to the manufacturer. That aside, very happy, Bob's vehicles are the gold standard for resin castings.
-
A nice sized box of AT-43 walkers is sitting in the trunk of the car having just been picked up at the Post Office today. An assortment of Red Bloc with at least one UNA thrown in, IIRC. I can hardly wait to get home to open my "prezzie." :)

I put in a test order to Daemonscape, who now have the Ground Zero Games range of sci-fi vehicles.
www.daemonscape.com
Bloody impressive. Got an email to say they were being cast to order, so resigned myself to waiting a week or so. No, arrived next morning, clean casts and very well packed, approximately 36 hours from placing the order.
Have bought a snowcat type apc and a little attack flyer thing for my Grymn, very impressed and highly recommended. :)

It's the swinging sixties here so I bought some suitable cars to populate the streets of Aden, Brunei and my fictitious little Caribbean island hoping to throw off the yoke of British Colonialism. Some Corgi and Dinky veterans from the 1960s, a Humber Hawk, Austin A40, Ford Anglia and a Mini. All in need of a good repaint but they're cheaper when they are scruffy.
-
Three magnificent resin Centurion tanks from John Bruce of Force of Arms. Eurovision semifinals are on TV, I have a couple of bottles of Swedish cider in the fridge so God is in his heaven and all is right with the world. :D

I got 3 Stuart Honeys,3 Italian M13s and a Grant all in 1/48 from Blitzkreig today.
Beautiful models!!! Minimum flash and hardly any build time, just pop in the guns and go.
I've got resin tanks from Warlord(never been overly impressed),Army Group North(OK) , JTFM(lovely models but the wrong scale for me) and PMD from Battlemart(1/50 and good value) but I think I'm....yes I'll say it...
a Blitzkreig FANBOI
Thanks Paul!

Can you say Helicarrier?
A True Heroes Aircraft Carrier bought for 7 euros in a charity shop! It is huge.
Product Dimensions 79.5 x 37.1 x 10.7 cm
Going rate new is £20 so a fiver is not bad? I have no idea how to use it yet but I love it.

A box of Plastic Soldier Co. Panzer IVs. I think it's high time I took a look at WWII gaming (might take me a few more years to screw up the courage for Naps) and if I ever turn up at the old club again, it might be handy.
And three of these. (http://www.homebargains.co.uk/products/8447-star-wars-revell-easykit-armoured-assault-tank.aspx) I can think of a few 28mm things that could peer out of the turret rings. :)

got me a boat
1/48 swiftboat from Revell, very old mould, poor detail, acceptable fit.
I already started chopping it up, I want to try to retrostyle it to interwar.
This is the beginning of my fleet program.
Having a Revell flower class corvette hull lying around for years, I thought I'd start small before ruining the big thing
On board we can see the GI that came with it, a Tamiya 1/48 german and a 28mm Highlander, for comparison
-
I ordered a Force of Arms Chevrolet M37/T-26 Armoured Car from eBay, but what arrived was a Force of Arms BA-6 but missing the extra 'raised' wheels, never mind, I still have stuck it together and my Republicans will not care.
Shonky photo I'm afraid:

Aha! I think i saw that one floating around on ebay? It's lovely. What are you going to do with. I suppose you're not heading up river in search of colonel Kurtz. Whatever you do....have fun. Cheers.
-
there are a lot floating around of these on ebay, but this one was a bargain. it was boxed.
I intend to provide a mast and a deck on top of the deckhouse, and exchangable weapons.
It will certainly be useable for all kinds of adventure, so why not some interwar Kurtz.
However, this project just got pushed back on the schedule because of a commitment to a certain convention....

The trains are from a brand called Kusan. I got 'em from an ebaystore aptly called Trainz and I've seen some sets pass the revue since.

A Warlord Games/Bolt Action M-24 Chaffee, bought on spec. Hmmmmmm. I've bought some Warlord vehicles before and thought them ok. The Chaffee is a bit hohum. Bad part fit on mine, plenty of flash and only after I started cleaning it up did I notice that the tracks were deformed and had a hole in them. What are supposed to be lift rimgs on the mantlet were cast like wings. Took a bit of filing to get them into shape. Grrrr. To add insult to injury, the tank commander was a miscast and missing an arm. The faults can be hidden with liberal application of 'mud' but overall it looks a bit odd.
Anyway, I know better now, where possible I'll stick to Company B and JTFM. No complaints with any of the purchases I've made with them.
-
Dinky Toys 'Shado2 Mobile'. :-*
It's beat-up,worn to heck and has no tracks, but I have wanted one since I was 5 1/2. :D
This will be the main ride for my long neglected Pig-Iron Heavy Infantry, so I'll paint it up with a livery to match. Lots of 7TV fun will be had with this one!

Three galley models bought for a very good price at Hot Lead this last weekend. When I bought them I was actually thinking they were resin b/c they were that sort of honey colour like resin often is. Of course, I had the wrong glasses on and when I examined them properly (and could actually see them) I discovered they were in fact strips of wood glued together to build up a galley shape. :?
A homemade job by the look of it b/c the holes for the oars are not spaced evenly along the sides. :-I
That'll teach me to look things over closely! It also reminded me how poor my eyesight is getting! :o
Won't be too much of a problem though as I was intending to convert them into some sort of fantasy "river patrol" vessels anyway. Just a sirprise to find out my resin boats were acually wood! lol

At 15mm or even 1/72nd you would be hard pushed to tell? ;)
The D had a cylindrical turret cupola and a 'letterbox flap' for the hull-mounted MG, compared to a hemispherical cupola and ball mount on the A and G. Not a major difference but I'm pedantic enough to care. ;) I could also challenge me modelling skills to convert it, but then I'm a bit too lazy to care...

This wonderful conversion was a done by Tom Kiley and posted on the Dust Tactics Fans - Official group on Facebook. I'm planning on doing a German version.

Quality stuff and nice camo job too. I wonder if Bob could be tempted into making some Cold War kit?

Some roughly 20mm scale James Bond cars (Aston Martin DB5 and Lotus Esprit) plus the engine block of a Me-109E to make copies of for home made wrecks, plus a M35A1 with recoilless rifle for my Cold War Dutch

And my 1/48 saga continues:

Now with an extra incentive, since I lost most of my model collection in 1/35 during a flood, last week:
Doesn't look like much, right?
But that picture was taken when the water was lower. At its highest, it reached this high
(http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj93/predatorpt/Forums/10665120_862346040444721_7339887906920565928_n_zps7b7ca607.jpg)
Meaning that all the shelves (except for the first) were under water. The older boxes looked intact but they were flooded and the interiors ruined. Some others just turned into pulp. If you can spot the GW box, there's a white box on top that survived intact but between them, there's a box with a Merkava that just disappeared
(http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj93/predatorpt/Forums/10689713_862346367111355_8415754730077689864_n_zps7d246835.jpg)
And I won't talk about all my terrain that was stored in a lower cabinet that was completely under water for 6 hours (the time we took to drain the basement)
Plus some paints..all of my resin; my compressor; and a sci-fi model that I had commissioned from Mainly28s.
Sorry for the long post, non-vehicle related but I just needed to vent a little ;)
-
Predatorpt, that's a really shitty thing to have happen. Vent away.
-
Aw man, that is horrible ! :'(
You seem rather calm despite the disaster.
Here's hoping you can salvage most of your stuff (and with that I don't just mean the gaming stuff)
-
That's really bad luck. I feel for you amigo. Rain or plumbing?

I'm calm because it's the third time in 10 years that this happens. But I was confident enough to put most of my models there because we installed a powerful water pump - it shouldn't have flooded. But alas, Mother Nature gave me and my parents a hard lesson. In 5 minutes it rained enough to overwhelm the pump. So, I lost most of my stuff due to my own fault, I can't do nothing else but be calm about it.
I'm cleaning the scale models in warm water and soap - they are full of mud - but lost all the boxes, decals and instructions. Some of the little pieces broke from their sprues and were damaged. Guess I now have a big pile of sprues for scratchbuilding stuff :o
Most of my GW paints - the old ones - survived pretty intact even after spending all those hours under water, same for Vallejo ones. But lost most of their labels, lol.
My compressor is an industrial one - without oil - so it's closed I hope it survived the water. I'll let it dry for another week before trying to start it up.
Assorted terrain got all broke, same as the model from Mainly28s I mentioned above - the pieces were too light and floated in their cabinet, bumping against everything. Lots of books were also destroyed, same for clothes (old ones and some that was left to dry). The main problem was that water that came from the street was loaded with sand and it turned into a smelly mud that enters everything.
The only thing that didn't get completely destroyed was a Warlord Hetzer that I was painting for my SOTR project - found everything (the figures were still on a bag, they floated; the hatches and guns didn't broke) except for one track. Now I have a semi destroyed Hetzer, lol.
But as my brother jokingly says... I will rebuild. Yesterday I bought those 2 models, some paints and decals.
-
That's really bad luck. I feel for you amigo. Rain or plumbing?
Heavy rain, something that we call "tromba d'água" :(
-
You will probably find all instructions as online files
-
Decals can be found from aftermarket sellers.
Might set you back some euros :?
-
zizi666 and former user - except for a couple of models (Merkava and a Jagdpanther), there's no need for instructions and decals, I'll just use the parts for scratchbuilding stuff. I'll now have the opportunity to build one heavy German mech for my SOTR guys.

Another ship project

Some nice toy trucks from LAFer Cuprum. All arrived very securely packed in a nice blue box from the Russian Postal Service. Good service. Today they get taken apart and repainted.

They really are excellent castings, but a small word of advice. Wash the Blitzkreig Miniatures vehicles really well with some detergent before applying paint. The mould release agent is particularly 'slippy' and if you don't get rid of it all the paint will come off - I found this out to my own cost.

Wow, your Blitzkrieg Vehicles look nicer than mine. I got myself the Matilda Mk II and wasn't to happy about it. A bit warped and bend, along with not so nice casting leftovers :/
But those look quite nice. Might give them a second chance.

Wow, i envy you. Trying to buy that car, costs an arm and a leg. Never found any offers less than 60 bucks :/

I bought the car as a Dinky Toy ambulance and converted it. It was my Christmas holidays project :D
Eventually it cost about 20 euros.

A Mini Cooper, three Citroen CVs and an Austin Princess taxi from Kmart. They are actually by Welly, listed as 1/60: 1/64 scale but are really 'fit the box' scale. The Mini and the Citroens look perfect against 28mm minis, the taxi looks too small but for $1.00 a piece (60p) I'm not complaining and the Austin is a useful source of spare wheels.
-
In the Toy section of Kmart? Is Welly the brand?

Yep, Kmart toy department. They have some Kmart specific name on the box, can't remember quite what but the packing is a silver grey IIRC. They are made by Welly. There's also a useful VW Beetle and a Kombi in the range.
-
Great, Beetle & Kombi will come in handy for Fighting Seasons Africa.
-
Mini turns out at 1/48ish beetle is a bit smaller, closer to 1/56 I'd say (haven't measured) and the kombi is smaller again. The Disney Cars kombi is larger. (1/56ish)
Cheers
Matt.
-
Oddly enough there are two Minis and I don't mean old vs new models. I bought one at Kmart a year or two back and it is dfinitely smaller than the one I bought a week or so back.
The Disney cars Kombi is a reasonable match size wise for the Akula one and the Welly one ( purchased at a BP servo) is definitely smaller. As I said they're fit the box 'scale' but look good with 28mm minis. The Citroens look spot on. Must hunt down the VW Beetle, haven't had any joy so far.
-
Damn! My local Kmart only had a 1:24 scale kombi and I didn't notice that you got one from a BP servo, will have to check out the servo. No luck in Target either.

2 1/55 scale BTR-80 & 2 Modern Soviet trucks (same scale). There is a dump truck as well which I might get later. Looking at a read of Fighting Season and some play testing but I may not be back from OS before they finish the testing.
Will need some ANA from Eureka methinks.

Who makes 1/55 BTR-80s? Do you mean the Empress ex Imprint ones? They're actually 1/50.
-
Ebay item 221759969124. If you search his items he has the BTR and 2 trucks in 1/55.

This?

How do they scale out? Because that's an incredibly good price.
-
Measures up at 14 cm L, 5.5 W and 4 cm H. Fraction out for W & H but L is spot on for 1/55. Only the front hatch opens and the interior is blank. The cam is as shown on Ebay but it is quite glossy. Top & bottom screw together but I have not taken one apart as yet. The 2 BTRs and the 2 trucks cost me $AUD 64 all up.
BTW, I found some of those Disney Pixar VW Kombis online as well and have 3 of them coming from China for $24. Will use at least one for a wreck and may pass one on to a friend for FS.
-
Thanks for the head's up. That works out at almost the same length as my Imprint version. I need another two to complete a platoon so these are tempting. I take it those are light in the turret and the excrescence at the rear is where the batteries go. If you would be so kind as to take some photos I'd be grateful.
-
There are various hatches underneath that appear to be battery housings, the batteries are not sent because of airline regulations. The turret has some plastic pieces that appear to be the lights referred to in the Ebay ad. I will attempt some pics on the weekend (long one here in Perth).
I'm hoping more stuff pops up. Interestingly I found the Pixar Kombis when I did a search for 1/55 after finding these ones.

Rubicon T-34/85 to mix in with my Warlord ones for my Egyptian Army. Looks like a nice model, can't wait to start on it. I especially like the fact that all the hatches are capable of being posed open.
Bizarre that it comes with a spare hexagonal turret for their T-34/76 model. Something of an afterthought I gather.
-
James Bond Car Collection Goldeneye T-55, marked 1/50 scale underneath and scales reasonably well to that, perhaps a little narrow but for just over $20, I'm not worried.

These two vehicles arrived from ebay and are from the Del Prado Fire Engine collection. The white van labelled as "Fourgon Fire Police, Bohemia" is a 2000 Ford E-350 XL Super Duty. The red water bowser is a 1969 Zil 130. Both are labelled as 1/57 scale. The series is "fit the box" so the scales vary between models.
Both will be disassembled, paint stripped etc. and reassembled.
Here is a link to a site with a full list of the models in the series with the scale and comments.

I may buy a second Zil 130 to convert into a GS truck.
The Ford will make a transport vehicle for the SWAT team or similar.
As my time is now allocated to Christmas preparations nothing will be done to these until after the holidays.

First part of my Spectre KS just arrived, 3 technicals each with different weapon system. a single AA, a twin AA and a RCL, one crewman for each. Now waiting on the extra stowage and additional towel head crews.

More a vessel really. 2 LCM Mk I, 1 LCS and a Vietnam river boat, all 28mm, all in resin from Barrage Miniatures. Very nice. :)
The LCMs are the result of a suggestion to them that they produce one to match their existing range and they agreed. Just a few months later I have my Landing Craft for Norway or Western Desert action. :-*

I figure the submersible will be useful for an SF EVA type vehicle and the bus looks usable and should fit in with some of my other oddly shaped SF vehicles ;D

The "bus" is actually loosely based on, and painted like a Tube (underground/subway/metro) train

That makes a lot more sense. I thought they were taking liberties with London buses, but I haven't been in the place in years so wasn't sure if it was some weird tourist thing ;D

"Same crappy blue Chevy Nova." [Eddie Murphy laugh]
1:43 diecast model from GMP found on eBay. Will serve as a Car (3 Ratings) in 7TV2e. Of course, it's going to need a lot of weathering before it really looks like the POS Murphy was driving in the movie.

Dont forget the banana. :-)
Not in the tailpipe. Maybe on the seat.

Blimey, no-one's posted in here for so long I've got a warning!
It wasn't very recently, but my eldest, who I used to call 'Orc Junior' on here 10 years ago when I used to talk about our Warhammer/LotR/40K games and has now grown up and moved out and is living with his fiance, came home for a visit sometime before lockdown started, and brought me a bag with some parts from a Mini kit that he'd found at a charity shop - no box, instructions, transfers, paint or glue, just some sprues in a bag. A couple of the pieces were cracked but nothing too egregious. He thought I could use for parts, and probably build some kind of Ork warmachine from it.
He's right of course. It's (I've since found out) a 1:32 scale Airfix Mini Cooper S (I found a thread about this kit on a blog from 2012 here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234916642-airfix-mini-cooper-132/ (https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234916642-airfix-mini-cooper-132/)). I have no particular interest in modern cars, and it's completely the wrong scale for anything I might want to do anyway - but the floor pan is a similar size the old Ork Trukks (by 'old', I probably mean the '90s-'00s ones). So, now I'm going to try to make an Ork Trukk out of it... there will perhaps be sporadic updates over in the 'Workbench' forum, and eventually it may even turn up in 'Future Wars'.
