Just as the title says. I am curious on the best tentacle maker. I know of three at the moment. Are there others???

I had no idea these even existed but looking at them now its such a simple idea with so many possibilities. Sorry, can't help you find the best one but thanks for making me aware of their existence. lol

I have the first one. It works, but since the tool is resin, you need to do a good deal of work to trim and square it so that it works correctly. Once you get it going, it works quite well. On the first PA Police Car I did there is a hose going from the passenger compartment to the gatling gun on the hood, I made it with this tool. You can also make a bunch of tubes and then store them in a jar of water. They will cure over time, but after about a week, they become solid enough not to leave finger prints, but still flexible. They will stay that way for....well at least 3 more months now and still going.
I'm interested in the last tool and will probably pick it up. Either way, BIG thumbs up!

Looks like handy tools, but I'm gonna stick with the metal tubes I bought from Dragonforge a coupe of years ago. They're simple, ribbed hoses (like you'd make with those tolling tools), but since they're metal, there's no risk of leaving prints or them hsving memory.
You might want to check those out too...

I bought one of these, it was badly cast, would have needed a lot of work to function minimally, and I felt totally ripped off.
I'll be getting the Masq-Mini one, best price, and being see through is a big advantage.

I bought it too, it took A LOT of work to get it fit, but once I did, it does the pretty well.

Mine was badly cast too so even had I worked on it it wouldn't have been 100%.
For me I expect a tool to work straight away though.

I'm totally with you there. Nothing pisses me of more...well some things but not too many of them :P
But i just ordered the third one on the list and got them fur-maker as well.

I have this one. It is made out of hard plastic (similar to PVC) and works great. It does not stick to green stuff and I have had no issues whatsoever. Hope that helps.

Too Bo Coo - I have read on more than one occasion of having to do this. And others here seem to say the same thing.
Daeothar- Yep seen them before and again recently when they were mentioned again. Cost and travel times and shipping fees have me looking for another source. Another company, starts with a Z is another source.
Zemjw - It is all good. je parle francais. OK well no not really. I sucked all four years in high school French. But did you see the tool the poster was using? A hair comb. Saw this recently when looking again over the three tools i linked to. He is using a damn hair comb.

And i agree that a tool should work right out of the box. I am not getting paid to work at the tool plant assembling the tools now am i?
Too Bo Coo - Fur maker. LOL When i initially read the description i didnt read "fur" i read "four". Got to stop surfing the net when i am tired.
Side note, how do the "fur molds" work for you? Worth it? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<?????/

Seems the populace is in the same thoughts as i am. A decision between the Masq and GSI version as i have read too many bad reviews on the Forge Planet one. Guess i am still weight six of one half dozen on the other for now.

I have both the course and fine fur makers. My biggest problem is that they are silicone and tend to distort the texture when you are pressing green stuff into it. They still work, but it is a bit of a knack.

I agree with Phil, it really helps to see the progress of the roll, you can then better fine tune the diameter of the hose.
When my new tools arrive I'll do a small review.

I use wound guitar strings and even though I am not playing much these days I always have a couple of old ones lying around if I need hoses

I ordered this and the fur maker (50 euro) 6 weeks ago, he keeps emailing me that the label keeps getting damaged in the post, but none of the 'tracking numbers' comes back to anything. I've disputed with Paypal, but I'm also thinking about contacting my local police and the police in his town in Germany for theft,
His last email was just a slap in the face. After sending a bogus 'tracking number' he told me 'it's in the mail'! and will be very happy to give me a refund.....when I return the items he never sent.
I am so angry right now....
So a warning to my fellow modelers to steer clear from this trainwreck....

Just got off the phone with Paypal. At first they ruled against me saying that Masq-Mini sent to them a tracking number. I called up paypal and pointed out that if they actually ran the tracking number in their 'investigation' that it would show that it was a bogus number. I had my money back 5 minutes later! :D
I think it's very important to send work to small businesses like Masq-mini, but there is also the added risk that the person running that company is not very professional and able to actually run the business. This bad experience wont dissuade me from using small shops in the future, but I do think it's important to warn fellow games when I have a bad experience like this.
