I used Pulp Alley to try a Fantasy game.

I love those old miniatures.....
I've lost the High Elf hero many years ago: it was one of my favourite piece.
Nice pieces and very good game table.
I breathed ten minutes of pure vintage!!!!

While I'm not familiar with the rules, the size & composition of the War Bands is VERY attractive. The minis are all BEAUTIFULLY painted...the Barbarian Babe in Hrothgar the Mighty's Band is a long time favorite with moi. GREAT IDEA & VERY WELL DONE!

Great nostalgia minis!

Your scenario to open/seal the forbidden tomb sounds like a lot of fun.

PULP ALLEY is a favorite ruleset for my gaming group too, and we've played several different settings, including fantasy and superheroes.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't know the rules but the warbands look fantastic.

Awesome, Jaye! I think Pulp Alley works great for this kind of adventure scenario. That looked like so much fun.

Looks GREAT!   :-* :-* :-*

Would you be interested in play testing some of the Brink of Battle Fantasy rules we have?  PM me if you are.

This is great.  I bought Pulp Alley originally in order to do some sword and sorcery games, but got distracted by the cool pulp figures out there.

Did you just give every figure (except archers) the "Animal" ability, in order to reflect swordplay?

I'm interested to know how much adaptation (if any) is required for the rules. I downloaded the free Pulp Alley pdf the other day; does this give all the rules needed, or is the full rules set required?

Thanks!

That's not a bad idea, or you could use the 'Animals' perk from Perilous Island.  ;)

The free version is not the full version, but it certainly includes everything you'd need to play Pulp Alley. If I remember correctly, the only 'game mechanic' that was left out was the hiding/stealth stuff - but that's not really a big deal.

Other than swapping out the figures and maybe their names, there is zero adaptation required to switch Pulp Alley to just about any setting you can imagine. For example, you could easily use the sample rosters from the free version to play fantasy scenarios.

One of the big parts that is missing from the free version is the league/character creation rules. Whether you're wanting to make a troll, town militia, mighty knight, wizard, or whatever it is simply a matter of selecting the skills and abilities that represent that character. For a high fantasy setting, I suggest adding one extra ability to your starting characters just to show a wider variety of races, magic, monsters and so on.

FYI -- The Perilous Island expansion includes lots of abilities/perks/resources that work great for fantasy settings.

HAVE FUN
Dave

An OLD topic for a good NEW idea.  o_o
Excellent battle report and nice vintage warbands  :-*
I've just ordered my pulp miniatures, so for a while I will not have painted miniatures. (I must do a Jungle board for my pulp adventures too  :'( )
However, I have more than one HUNDRED of painted miniatures ready to fight (I usually use them for MORDHEIM)... Why still wait? I could have yet the opportunity to try Solo PA with my yet painted miniatures and fantasy boards.  :D
