Woohoo!

I have been waiting for some 28mm Dutch!  Already placed an order too!!!

The colour guide is a very nice touch and really makes the blister artwork stand out from the rest, the colour guide is a fantastic little touch.  Very much looking forward to seeing this range fleshed out!

*sigh* more stuff is hitting the market faster than I can buy IT!!!!!

Great figs!

What is the break down of the 10 figs?
Looks like
1 Bugle guy no weapon (or pistol)
1 Pistol Officer/NCO type
1 LMG
1 SMG
6 Rifles

Great stuff. I like the fact that there are spare KNIL heads for those wanting to fight the Japanese.

Very nice, I particularly like the officer and the Lewis gunner. But I think the Thomspon only saw service against the Japanese?

Hello Hang Tuah, this kind of Thompson has been available since 1928,bought all around the world, either particularly, but also underwent extensive trials by several armies again all around the world, this and the fact that the Dutch did buy a a big number of them,is enough to place a Thompson in this blister.
It is one soldier with a Thompson (one) and the rest with Manlicher rifles!
The Dutch were invaded in a swift strategic movement,it would be normal to reach out for any automatic weapons,be it WW1 or "interwar ones",remember those pictures of Berlin in the end of the war, where lots of old unexpected equipment resurfaced : Spandaus,Ermas,Lewis machine guns and more.

Dutch didnt buy the Thompson till 1942. Only used by the KNIL.

It is possible one unit in 1940 was issued Erma SMGs.

In the Netherlands the Thompson did underwent trials before 1940,it has been around since 1928...2,700,000 approx. were made...

The Thompson SMGs bought by the Dutch were bought under the Lend Lease scheme which was enacted 11th March 1941.

The Thompson was produced from 1921, not 1928. That was when Federal Labs. took over production.

A figure with an Erma would be a more likely historical representation but even that is not confirmed.

Dutch sources mention an order for 150 PM Schmeisser 28 type II. This order for the Dutch navy(marines) dated
from january 1940 ! Apparently Dutch prince Bernhard used an Erma smg.

From http://www.grebbeberg.nl/index.php?page=vuistvuurwapens

hope this helps

Thanks and yes I know the 1st came out in 1921 the Model I have sculpted is the 1928 one.
I provide a bag of extra heads for use with the KNIL you can just see it in the center of the blister foto.
Will be sculpting the Erma for sure ! Extra fire power is much needed against the German paratroopers, some sources say they had a ratio of 1 Smg for every 3 rifles.

If you have done slouch hats for KNIL, what about considering Dutch helmets with a neck cloth? I have just received the book "The Loss of Java" and a lot of pictures show troops with this style of helmet as well as the slouch hat.

As an aside the book looks good. It is an English language translation of a Dutch book published in 2005 or 2006 that I saw in a Periplus bookshop recently in Bali and bought from The Book Depository. Not as many pics as I would like but reads well so far. Attempts to dispel some of the myths of the 1942 Java campaign.

Thank you Poiter50 the book is quite good, really takes one back to Timor!
Portugal was neutral, but some of the Portuguese there managed to put up a fight along with the Timorese colonial and native troops.
Some fought with spears, bows and arrows, and the old Kropatscheck carbines.

I received my Dutch!  Thanks for some wonderful miniatures Gothic Line!

The box they were sent is was nice and secure and the miniatures themselves were all wrapped safely in bubble wrap before being placed into the blister packs, this was a wonderful touch as it meant that they didn't rattle around during their international voyage.  Postage was fairly standard for a parcel coming to Australia and took no longer than any other miniatures I have purchased from overseas.

I will definitely be getting some more and look forward to an expanded range!
