Nice work! Did you scratch build or purchase the buildings? "Hell On Wheels" really is a great setting for games.

Wow that's some good stuff - love the figures. Great brushwork and a lot of character!
-
Nicely done majorsmith. :D
It never ends you know? That town will just keep getting bigger.. ;)
-
thanks guys, smokezombie the trees are off ebay i think by bachmann, they are good quality and not too bad in price as well!
-
Just took another look and I love the surface you use for the forested area. Another gaming mat?
-
Oh my, is that the dreaded Stockburn's men from Pale Rider? :o
-
ah yes Stockburns men were the inspiration for those figures! Dave its a hanging basket material £2.99 from pennalls!
-
I must have some! Good find!
-
MajorSmith,
Fantastic collection!!
Where are the rail workers from??
Mac
-
the rail workers are from brigade games, many thanks

more stuff ive just finished! i must admit im not keen on the mdf wagons they lack a certain weight even after painting and weathering, i think i will stick to metal! the house is a dead mans hand building i had to drybrush it a bit as i dont like the laser cut wood look, and also it might nullify the smell of smoked haddock these kits make!

Lovely stuff :-* :-* :-*
Who makes the part built house?
-
its a dead mans hand building :)
-
Great stuff!
-
More lovely brush-waving going on here, I see.
Very inspiring, Andy!

Not convinced by the new fangled 'painted MDF' stuff yet as I find the colours too cartoony.
Not a big fan of most MDF buildings, but I think they do work for Old West wooden structures.
Would rather colour them in myself, though.
I do want one of those 'under construction' houses, though, they are excellent.

Yeah, the pre-painted ones remind me of cell shaded graphics. The buildings themselves are lovely but ironically I'd rather buy them unpainted.

The pre-paints are a good start, I find. If you don't like the 'soot' staining, it's easily wiped off with a damp cloth to leave a 'pristine' building. And they're easy to 'improve' too, by painting in cut edges and adding weathering and additional details.
-
Also worth pointing out that the colours are quite a bit muted from how they appear in their store photos. I've taken a black or sepia wash to a couple of them though to dumb them down.
-
thanks for the feedback guys, yeah i must admit i would only buy the unpainted buildings for price, tempted to make a few of my own!
-
Beautiful work Major. Having started my own Mdf building this week looking at your creations are inspiration. The detail and weathering you work into them are impressive. They can be a bit tricky eh.

What he said, not a fan of those MDF kits, but the half built one is a nice idea.
Great stuff again Andy. ;D
-
Uhuh, the pre-painted buildings I bought ended up with a bit of a repaint as I thought the original colours weren't drab enough. Nice kits though, and a flat pack building kind of fits with the way I see these towns springing up.
-
Really lovely collection of buildings, love the pigs and chickens! Where did the mill accessories come from?
-
the mill accessories are from frontline miniatures very nice too
